My husband and I leased a beautiful new Tuscon Select Premium about a month ago at Brandfon Hyundai. We love the car so much, we decided to lease a second vehicle. Even though we have closer option, there was no question that we would be returning to Brandfon for car. From the initial phone call to driving off the lot, the employees were professional, accommodating, and kind. They were transparent and we felt no pressure in the friendly, warm environment. We were given the time we needed to discuss our options with Dennis, the sales manager. He helped us make a decision and there were no hidden fees. Dennis went out of his way to find a vehicle on the lot so we could drive away with it the same day. There were no Tuscons on the lot that matched what we were looking for, so Dennis found a higher model and gave us an exceptional deal. The sales and leasing consultant, Tyler, was very patient with us. He was extremely knowledgeable and spent time making sure that we felt comfortable. Tyler really seemed to prioritize a relationship with us, rather than just making a sale. He communicated with the service department, making sure our car was ready for us as fast as possible. Tyler spent time reviewing the car with us and going over all the features. He reached out the day after we got the car to ensure we were comfortable with the vehicle and its features, as well as setting us up on the Bluelink app so we could use all the technology that is available to Hyundai owners. Rafael, the business manager, went through the financing we us, making the most stressful part of the day when buying or leasing a car much more comfortable. He provided all the information to us in a clear manner, and just as he had with our last purchase, Rafael felt more like a friend than a businessman while still remaining professional. My 2017 Elantra engine light came on as I happened to be driving by so I thought I'd stop in to see if they had an opening for service. To be honest, I have been noticing very slight hesitation for maybe a month. They took the car in right away and scanned it. Two issues were identified in the scan. The service rep sat down with me and had a chat about the issues. No pressure and she was very nice. They were able to take care of one issue right away and ordered parts for the other (2 days.) We had purchased our car from the Branford Hyundai dealer and so returned there with the three issues that had to come up soon after our purchase. We were extremely disappointed by our service experience.. On the phone, we described the issues and the person was very nice and scheduled us for an appointment where we would wait for the car. We showed up as scheduled and 2 1/2 hours later, they had not fixed any of the problems. One issue was that the driver side door stopped auto opening as it was supposed to when it detected a key. After 2-1/2 hours we found out that that issue was not even diagnosed because apparently they didn't have someone trained to work on the electronics available. They asked if we wanted to wait an undetermined amount of time or "see if it got worse". What? It didn't work. What was going to happen worse? DO NOT PURCHASE FROM BRANDFON HYUNDAI. Go literally anywhere else. Purchasing from this dealer is the largest financial mistake I've made in my adult life. I purchased a 2020 Palisade from this dealer in November. 70,000 miles on the car. About 2 weeks after the 60 day warranty expired, the transmission failed. I brought the car in for service, it's been 2 weeks since my service appointment, and after 8 days of left messages and dodging my calls they finally gave me a quote of $4000+tax to fix the car, and they won't have the parts for another 3 weeks. I applied for a Goodwill repair through corporate which was rejected. Not only am I stuck with a $4200+ bill on a basically new car before I even had the chance to get an oil change on the thing, but I am without transportation for over a month at best. I'm unsure if it's the official stance of Hyundai to sell as many lemons as possible, but it sure does seem like that's the strategy of Brandfon Hyundai in particular. We purchased our vehicle from McDermott Chevrolet (Hyundai Palisade 2020). About a year later we had brought it for service to Hyundai in New Haven. Apparently, we were told that the motor went. The car had less than 100,000 miles on it but Hyundai would not honor the 100,000 warranty as we are not the original owners (this should not be legal or matter). McDermott was bought out by someone else and they wanted nothing to do with us. After going back and forth with Hyundai they agreed they would cover half of the cost to fix the motor. However, additional charges somehow kept getting added on. Within a week of getting the vehicle back it now leaks oil. My husband brought it back to them and they tried telling him that the car was leaking before. In addition to that, now the told him that there was a dent in the radiator and that we must have been in a collision. What???? There was no leak and no dent before the motor was installed by them and now we are looking at a radiator repair and/or replacement. DO NOT PURCHASE ANY VEHICLES FROM MCDERMOTT CHEVROLET OR HYUNDAI IN NEW HAVEN/EAST HAVEN or bring your vehicle(s) there for repairs. You will regret it, unless of course you like being taken advantage of and want to spend thousands of dollars. read more

The service manager is a woman who will try to scam you into paying for $150-$200 assessment of the issue that you may already know is covered by the warranty after the experience I had with her and her terrible team, I called corporate Hyundai and spoke with someone who stated that the $200 assessment was unnecessary and they could have submitted the issue in writing to the Hyundai corporate office to validate whether or not it would be covered by the warranty This location do not trust the service manager pretty much all around this place is awful. I had my most recent car (2019 Ioniq PHEV) serviced on 9/22/23, and paid ~$250 to have the tires balanced & rotated, oil & filter changed, fluids checked, multipoint inspection completed. I work from home, so do not drive a lot, and this car being a PHEV allows me to get around town and do 80% of my travel on the all electric motor but i have been noticing a growing oil spot in my driveway since the fall. I checked under my hood today (1/17/27) and was astonished to see that my oil cap was not put back onto my engine and oil was everywhere inside the engine compartment. I called the service department and spoke to a rep, who was told by the master tech that it's not their fault, and "the timeline doesn't add up". I asked to speak with a manager, who told me that too much time had elapsed since my last oil change so it was not their fault and they didn't believe me that they were the last to service the car. Since this is an advanced type of car, being a PHEV, i have serviced it almost exclusively (except for a recent brake job) with them. I don't let anyone else touch the car. They have nearly destroyed my $35k car that i bought and serviced from them and told me they were not going to take any responsibility for this. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAUGE! Brought my car in for second time picked it up in worse condition then when I dropped it off. I was having a headlight issue... they told me it was a wire and bulb even after I explained that if you hit the lens or a bump it went back on. Charged me 173.00 ... that night same issue ..called couldn't get appointment for 10 days was told don't worry about the time. I dropped car off 45 min later they called asking for 163.00 diagnostic fee. I called for an oil change appointment and must have been transferred to the front desk. I called back to see if I could get the right line and the woman picked up the phone and muttered "oh my god" under her breath to let me know she was annoyed. Well my experience with Hyundai of Brandfon was the worst that any human should recieved. In April of 2023 My car like many others were apart of the TicTok challenge stolen and damaged. Police recover had it towed to storage company. Meanwhile, the insurance company had it removed and delivered to Hyundai of Branford. I spoke with a service rep that stated my car was #4 for the week. She said a serve manager would contact me now we are in 4 days no one called. I called them. After the adjustor alerted me my car was not on the lot. I called and spoke with Brenda who confirm the unfounded vechical; i trace back called the towe company they confrimed delivery. 4/11/23 so I contact the service department again and again they were on speed dail. My calls were daily on the 23rd I asked to speak with the service manager ED in which Brenda gave me his name, He was standing next to her as he perfered to speak in third person. Once he took the call his voice was loud " tow trucks just drop off cars. I reply my car has been on your lot since 4/11 its now the 23. So, I drove to and around the lot after work and found my perfectly parked car. I met them on 4/24 in the morning alerting my car on the lot with pictures. The rudeness, carlessnes of my car or me was applauling. My conversation was to Ed how rude he was no accountability for my car just be missing on their lot. The service was unacceptable the slowfulness of everyone's behavior changed once i called them out. That wasn't very smart of me. they had my car and things moved very slow, no commutation with anyone but the receptionist her behavior changed as well. I called both extension of Ed and BJ/BD no response at all. I called Hyundai of corperate office. Funny they had a hard time reaching their own people. The less good news- they agreed to match an online price from a Baltimore dealership- and we were in the process of doing the paperwork- and it turned out they were using the CT evehicle tax credit to offset the cost. That would have been ok had they explained that ahead of time. Granted they were trying to "help us" but greater transparency would have been much appreciated. If I could leave a negative star review for this dealership, I would. I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Brandfon Hyundai of New Haven, and I must say it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a car dealership. From start to finish, everything about this place left a bitter taste in my mouth. And unfortunately appears to be the "Gold Standard" for this brand. Firstly, the customer service was appalling. The service representatives seemed disinterested and unhelpful from the moment I walked through the door. I had specific issues that I needed addressed regarding the car. My A/C was recharged and needing to be refilled (i.e a leak somewhere), my anti-theft software needed to be updated, and my starter was failing if the car sat for more than a day (mind you the battery is brand new). My experience began with just trying to secure an appointment which clearly isn't an easy feat and now I know why. Interestingly enough the morning of my appointment while waiting in line to drop off my vehicle I was approached by a salesman who wanted to purchase my vehicle and sell me a new one that day. This location is clearly more focused on selling you a vehicle rather than being treated as a paying customer. Moreover, the lack of transparency and lack of communication at Brandfon Hyundai was deeply concerning. I called daily to get a quote and diagnosis for my vehicles issues, but most days my call was rerouted to sales or sent to voicemail and not returned. It became clear that my vehicle was not a priority and basic issues were not being assessed, making me question the integrity of the dealership. A reputable dealership should prioritize honesty and provide customers with all the necessary details to make an informed decision, but sadly, that was not the case here. I received a call later that week that my vehicle needed new brakes with a hefty price tag, but still no diagnosis for the other two concerns. Furthermore, my vehicle sat for two weeks before I called and let the Service department know I was going to come pick up my vehicle. To no surprise when I arrived they still had no answers and insisted that I pay for the "Diagnostic Fee" for $153.63 in order to take the vehicle back into my possession. I was told by my Service Representative that I was getting a "deal" because they did not charge me for the A/C recharge. I was also told to "just bring the vehicle back when the coolant ran out again" or to leave the vehicle there to be further inspected for an unknown amount of time. I would like to add that they could not figure out the issue with my starter and instead continuously jumped my battery and recommended a new battery. It was evident that this dealership did not invest enough time or effort into properly assessing my car or the staff is just incredibly incompetent. This lack of attention to detail further reinforced my growing dissatisfaction with their services. To make matters worse, when I expressed my concerns and frustrations and asked to speak to the Service manager, they were "unavailable" and never returned my call. Instead of addressing the issues I raised, they simply brushed me off and tried to shift the blame onto me as a customer. This level of unprofessionalism was unacceptable and showcased the dealership's disregard for customer satisfaction. In the end, I decided to take my business elsewhere, and I strongly advise anyone considering purchasing and servicing a car at this location to steer clear of Brandfon Hyundai. A professional mechanic was able to find and diagnose the above listed issues in 2 days and at a fraction of the cost! The poor customer service, lack of transparency, and overall unprofessionalism demonstrated by this dealership are not worth your time, money, or sanity. There are plenty of reputable mechanics out there that genuinely care about their customers, strive to provide exceptional service, and are knowledgeable about vehicles. My husband and I were shopping for a used car. We found one on AutoTrader and it was located at this Hyundai dealership. My husband called to ensure the car we were interested in was still at this dealership, and we made an appointment to come down to look at it. When we arrived, we were surprised by how long we were waiting around in the lobby. We were never greeted by anyone and continued to wait around for a while before someone finally came to say hello. We were told all of the staff was busy assisting other customers and to have a seat in the waiting area. I was a little surprised that there was such a long wait, given that we had an appointment. It seemed we would have been better off had we just been walk-in's a little earlier on in the day. We considered leaving, but we had spent 45 minutes driving all the way there so we stuck it out. After waiting for quite a while, we finally met with a sales rep. The meeting moved so slowwwwwly. Everything he did seemed to take forever (he typed with one finger, seriously). He spent about 90% of our time together talking about things completely unrelated to buying a car (like asking my husband a million detailed questions about his job and if he had met this person or that person, telling us about and showing us pictures of his son, etc) and I was getting incredibly frustrated with the length of time this visit was taking. We finally went to see the car we were interested in and took it for a test drive. My husband then made the man an offer on the car, and he went back to his boss (the guy who greeted us after we were waiting around a while in the lobby). When he returned to us, he said "good news!" so we were expecting either A) our offer to have been accepted, or B) a fair counter-offer. Instead, he gives us a piece of paper with the original asking price PLUS all the hidden fees, which made the car more than $2k higher than the asking price. I don't know what part of a higher cost is "good news," but that was annoying. After having spent SO much time at this dealership and having gotten nowhere in the process, and then realizing they were unwilling to come down even ONE PENNY from the asking price, was enough for me. We got up to leave and then the boss himself came over and asked if we wanted to see less expensive cars because "we came from so far away," he said. No thanks. This place was a total waste of our time, from the long wait to meet with a sales rep (even with an appointment), to the painfully slow meeting with the sales rep, to the not budging a single cent on an offer we made. The car had been on the lot for more than 60 days already, and it was the last week of the last month of the year so you would think they'd be a little more motivated to sell, but I guess they wanted to hang onto it. Good luck, guys! Unfortunately we didn't feel this dealership had any interest at all in selling us a car. We went the next day to Lia Hyundai in Hartford and ended up leasing a brand new 2017 vehicle and were in our new wheels faster than it took this place to have us sit down at a desk. The experience was quite different when I purchased my Hyundai Elantra from this facility in 2014. They use high pressure tactics to get you to lease a car. They play games and ignore you until you run out of patience and leave. It's too bad because it use to be enjoyable to buy a Hyundai when it was Quality Hyundai. The previous owners took the "quality" with them. I left with no car and disappointed that the sales manager felt it was ok to treat customers so poorly. I've been doing business with this dealership for 3 years. Once my warranty was up, my car had issues. Upon replacing my struts, I got an alignment but wouldn't go inspec. Firestone informed me my strut might me bad. Brought the car to branfon hyundai did a work up for them to say it wasn't the strut but most likely my tie rods inner and outer. Asking my mechanic who normally services the car said it definitely was, I went about replacing everything else but the strut since branfon hyundai swore it wasn't the strut. Finally, after pleading with the manager, he wants the orginal receipt which I don't have in order to contact hyundai to see if this would be covered by the warranty. I was sold a lemon part and they won't cover it. I followed their recommendations but now I have a bad strut that's throwing my alignment off and wearing through tires. Mind you since my car is a special model (they never told me about) no aftermarket parts are avaliable and I'm at the mercy of the dealership. read more

On Tuesday morning I called and spoke directly to the service advisor (John W.) about an issue with my Hyundai. He told me that their computers were down and he would get back to me soon. I gave him my work and cell number. On Tuesday afternoon, I called back and left a message on his voice mail. Today is Thursday - still NO CALL BACK. I got my car repaired somewhere else and will never go back or recommend this dealership. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! read more
