My wooden mailbox post was quite old and finally keeled over. USPS stopped delivering my mail so I had to fix it ASAP. I found Tony on yelp and despite him not having too many reviews, I gave him a try. He was able to come out later in the week and put up a new post. It took a day for the cement base to dry and afterwards he made another visit to make sure the post was sturdy and fixed my new mailbox on top. All is good now except I needed USPS to restart my mail service which took about a week and an actual visit to the post office. read more

Very important, and unique to handymen, he knows what he does not know, and will not start something he does not feel he is competent to complete. I use him for my business and for personal jobs- 8 years now-maybe 2 dozen times, from 2 hours jobs to 4 day jobs, from minor fix-it/put together/pick up furniture, to completely help transform a 3 car garage into a functioning warehouse/workspace for an internet business to fix up a house for staging, to putting in a floor, etc, etc. His price is cheap given how focused he is-he barely stops to eat or go to the bathroom. I called Tony Ray Smith at the suggestion of my sister who highly recommended him. My sister is very particular so when she refers a service, I know that it must be good. And Tony did not disappoint - he responded to a Friday afternoon call and showed up early the next day on Saturday morning and fixed my kitchen faucet within a couple of hours (it would have been sooner if the store where we needed parts had been open an hour earlier). In my business as a professional organizer I have subcontracted with more than a dozen handymen. Some are good at one thing, say plumbing, others at another,say carpentry. Most are slapdash, and others so slow and compulsive I want to scream. Today I used a handyman who is literally fabulous at everything I threw at him. Great prep and painting skills, electrical repair, plumbing, cleaning (he scoured my roof and cleaned my gutters, trash area, etc), changing out smoke detectors with bizarre hard-working - nothing too hard for Tony. He smiled all day, worked like a demon, never complained, even went to the hardware store to purchase what he needed. This is a talented, kind, wonderfully skilled gentleman. He is a deacon in his church, a grandfather, patient and kind. On his way out he sighted a nail in my son's tires, and encouraged him to have it looked at. The tire man said that had he driven on it, it could have caused a blowout! Tony's prices are quite reasonable, way less than what similarly experienced people are charging. I hired A Affordable Handyman based on his Yelp reviews. Tony answered my email promptly, and came over in advance of the job to review the tasks. He showed up on time the day of the job, and worked a full day. I miscalculated the materials for one of the jobs, and added another job that wasn't on the original list. He had no issues with this, including going to two hardware stores to get the needed materials. The jobs ranged from finesse tasks to building a base frame and assembling a large storage shed kit. He had all of the necessary tools to do the job, and has a wide range of skills. His rates were more than fair for this area. I will hire him again next time I need a handyman. read more

We used Tony for the first time today to replace 9 hardwired smoke detectors with new hardwired combo smoke and Co detectors. He was on time and completed the task in less than 90 minutes. Handyman Tony Smith did some work for me on my rental house in Mountain View. He stabilized a large overhead trellis on my patio, painted, replaced rain gutters, replaced door molding, and replaced an exhaust fan. He was reliable, cheerful, courteous, cooperative, and competent. He took pride in his work. He thinks out-of-the-box: I had bought a replacement exhaust fan that was a completely different size and shape from the original fan, which didn't work any more. I assumed he would have to spend a lot of time re-shaping the hole in the ceiling from a rectangle to a circle to accommodate the new fan. Instead, he saved himself time, and me money, by simply replacing the motor of the old fan with the motor of the new fan. I'd gladly hire him again if I needed more home improvements. read more
