The aesthetician stuck to my preferences and executed the work quickly and professionally. The building and environment was a little unfortunate being in a 1950's cinderblock office building with laminate stairs and long corridors but the salon has done a fair amount in their suite to overcome that. read more

I have been going to this salon for several years. I always get a great cut, highlights and color. My highlights and color have lasted longer and blends in with my natural color better than any other place. Flexible appointments and reasonable pricing. The salon also offers several other beauty services. I highly recommend Annette (owner) and anyone on staff to get your hair done. I love all the Aveda products too! I don't know what Becky's is talking about. I have been coming to this salon for many years and I am well below the age of 65. The atmosphere is relaxing and the staff is professional and experienced. When you first walk in they greet you by asking if you would like coffee or water. They are caring and listen to what their clients want. I am very particular with my hair and have never walked out disappointed. I would highly recommend the salon. read more

I have to take credit for not speaking out - but I was so disgusted I just wanted to leave. I called the salon and asked how much it cost for a single process color, I was told $50.Great, made the appointment. Arrived for my appointment a few days later, was happy enough with the color consult, the colorist applied my color, waited for it to process, had it shampooed out. A second operator, actually the owner, took me over to her station and blew out my hair - I asked her to leave it curly, and she pulled out a sock diffuser and I told her that would not work on my curls and that it would be better to let it air dry. She sock dried it to a frizzy mess - looked like crap. I ended up putting my baseball cap on that I wore in, it looked horrible. When I checked out she said $75! For what I said - color and blow out!!! These are things that should be discussed with your client before. I was so pissed. I just paid and I will never darker that doorway again. read more

Love this place! I have known Jinelle for 20 plus years, and she has been my stylist since she was in beauty school. Regardless of where I've lived - in CT, MA, or now NYC, I make a point to come to Jinelle and have her work her magic - both in cuts and colors. I can walk in (as I did today), tell her "do what you want," and know that I will always end up with a fantastic result that is age appropriate (I'm in my early 30's) and professional, while still fun and not boring - perfectly fitting my personality. The salon itself provides a warm, calming experience - very unlike so many of the NYC salons I tried, where you feel rushed, not listened to, and just another job. That's why I keep coming back to Jinelle. Not only is the end result fantastic, but the whole experience is one that is definitely worth taking the train up to obtain. ive been going here for years, even back when they were in the corporate towers. My old girl was Adrienne and she was great, but when they moved to Trap Falls she didnt move with them. I like A Albert becasue it is an Aveda salon and like their products, but after getting the same half assed haircut the past 5 times i went there i realized that the salon caters to a more older clientele. They do not get edgy with their cuts or adventurous is the better word. I should have known better but i kept going back. Every time i would bring a picture and it would never be what i asked. The last haircut and color for $120 (without $15 tip)was a disaster!!! Bangs too short top layer too short, no layers in the bottom. I got the comment of "you look like you're from 1984" Great. Even though i had asked her while she was cutting to thin out the bottom. She took all of 10 mins to cut my hair, i knew something was wrong. The color didnt even take, still had roots and the greys that i wanted to cover up. Called the owner, b/c i was just devastated she offered to fix everything and also refund me. Very nice, but to be honest i didn't want to go back. She ended up sending a check for just the color and made an appt for me to see her to fix the haircut. I'm not going back, i went to Karma in New Haven the owner was attentive and was actually appalled at the haircut i was previously given. Oh and a note to the hairstylist if you are not feeling well and decide to vomit in between coloring and cutting my hair dont tell me about it and just reschedule the cut for when you feel better...thanks. If youre looking for just an ok, non adventurous haircut go here, or else if you like to look youre from the 80's, and not the good 80's either then this is your place. read more

avoid this very unproffesional salon at all cost. one has to wonder when no one else is at the salon when you show up fir your appointment. not a good sign. the owner over charges and ask you to blow dry your own hair while she goes in the break room and eats her lunch. there is a very high turnover and the 1 or 2 colorists that are there are terrible! they do not care about you as a client only your money. they do not do things the traditional aveda way. not relaxing but quite a stressful experience instead of that spa experience. they will over chatge you and your hair will not be treated with care. go online you have many other aveda choices in the area. their clientele also appears to be mainly over 65+. hope this helps.. i would not reccomended this salon or it's employees under any circumstances!!!! read more

Love this salon. I started going when I moved up from Philadelphia and wanted to find a reasonably priced Aveda Salon. Everyone is very friendly and it has a warm, family-like atmosphere. I have been going for about 2 years now and I am always happy with my cut and color. The stylist always does what I ask her to do and I have always been told ahead about the cost. n fact she tends to err on the side of caution and then will edit it to make sure that I am happy. I am 32 years old and do not get 80 style haircuts! In fact the stylist has updated my hair style! read more
