I wanted to love this salon, had my first appt last year with a stylist, initial cut was ok, the stylist didn't really understand my request for a layered cut for volume. Second cut was better, however, I have been scheduled and rescheduled and rescheduled. My original stylist left, and I was put with someone else, then canceled and put with another stylist, got my hair cut, was ok, then this stylist was no longer there so I was put with another and this cut was just way below average, and the price had increased without any advance notice. I don't know why they have so much turnover, prior to coming here, I had the same hairstylist for years and years until she sadly moved away. I need to find a new place as these haircuts have been mid at best and they can't seem to keep their stylists. read more

I've had two disappointing color experiences at this salon and one particularly insulting interaction with reception in Shelton. First appointment (March): I requested a bronde/ash blonde color but ended up with gold/yellow hair. I returned a few days later for toner to correct my hair by the same stylist, but the result still didn't match what I asked for. I was told "to wait a few weeks" to see how the color washed out. Second appointment (June): this was pre-booked during my March visit. I arrived early with my one-year-old but realized I had forgotten his entertainment bag. I let the front desk know I was here but needed to quickly run home to get it, so we wouldn't disrupt customers. Despite being a returning client, I was told they would give away my slot if I wasn't back within 15 minutes of my appointment time. There was zero flexibility or understanding offered. Owner intervention: after I posted a yelp review after my experience with reception, the owner reached out right away to investigate. She later provided a $100 voucher and arranged for a senior stylist to do my hair at the original stylists rate. When I mentioned I didn't feel comfortable returning to the Shelton location, she offered the option to go to New Canaan. Ultimately, since the stylist had an earlier cancellation and was local to Shelton, they went above and beyond to have me come in on a day they are normally closed. That level of care and service was genuinely impressive. Make-up appointment with senior stylist: once again, I came prepared with clear inspiration photos of ashy blonde hair. Instead, I received golden blonde. When I gave feedback via email to the owner, I was told by them that the ash tone I requested would make my hair look "dull" and "darker" and could only be achieved with a full head of highlights-despite the fact that I had a full head of highlights done a few short months ago. That explanation didn't align with the bright, dimensional Inspiration photos I provided, especially given my existing base. While I truly appreciate the owners commitment to customer satisfaction, the consistent inability to deliver the specific ashy tone I've asked for points to a technical gap in skill or approach. I hesitated to reach out to the owner after this appointment because I didn't want to be perceived as a "problem customer"-first for the Yelp review about how I was treated as a mom and repeat guest, and now again for being disappointed with the final result from this session. But the truth is, clients paying premium prices deserve to receive the color they request the FIRST time they request-especially when they come prepared, clear, and open to direction. I got so lucky when I called for an appointment on Wednesday evening and got an appointment the next day, Thursday with Anthony. It was my first visit to Luscious. They have gotten a new customer! Anthony worked magic with a hairdo that was outgrown and the color had turned a not so fine shade of brassy! I trusted him to figure out the color and a cut. The result was wonderful. I'd be careful with Luscious & Co. I had highlights and extensions put in by Chelsea and they destroyed my hair. I've been getting highlights for twenty years and have NEVER had breakage before but the front of my hair snapped off after Chelsea colored it. I've also had extensions multiple times before and have never had any trouble. This time, however, they were installed so poorly that they were visible and also left my hair extremely damaged. I had to remove them after 10 weeks and ended up losing inches of my natural hair because of the damage incurred by improper installation. The owner was lovely and tried to remedy the issue by having a few of the extensions placed differently but the extensions really needed to be removed and installed by someone who knew what they were doing. Now I'm out thousands of dollars and my hair is a mess. I really wish they had have offered me a refund or a reinstallation by a more qualified professional. read more

I've been coming here for a couple of years and each time I usually have some sort of an issue. The first time I came here for microbead extensions and they slipped out of my hair because it's very fine. It was years ago so I don't recall the details but they used me as a hair model for hair dreams and the first application remains to be my favorite job they've ever done. Since then I've had hair dreams one more time from them & a third from a diff salon. The second time, the quality and amount didn't feel as thick as the first time and it was put in very uneven. I had to go back and have it corrected. Fast forward...had them in for months then came back and had them taken off. Then after about after a month, I wanted extensions again but moved out of state so I called them asking to purchase the hair and see if I would be good for the new perfectness actions they have but even after going here for years they would only let me come in for a consult that takes 40mins. Ended up finding out hairdreams would still be the best option for me. At some point in between hairdreams I wanted another option because you CANT put your hair up with hairdreams. The flat bonded pieces are actually pretty big and if you have thin hair (which most people would who need hairdreams), they are very visible, so I got clip in extensions and had a consult for that as well. They were too heavy for me and it ended up being a waste of $$. Then because I live out of state now I wasn't able to have them ordered and installed in time so I found a salon in my new state. But I was pretty disappointed they made me come in for a consult as if I was a new client. So when I returned to CT I figured I am loyal so I would get a hairdreams wellness cut for around $50-60 and it was an hour of the stylist departing my pieces (which I do daily) and no wash, no cutting my dead ends. Literally have no idea what she did with my hair for that high price and time it took. Last straw. Over it. They do great coloring, and cuts but I can't see myself going back anymore. Spent way too much money not to be happy every time I leave here. The pics are the second time I got hairdreams extensions. I honestly don't know what I was thinking even leaving the salon or how they let me and though it was okay. They did follow up and I went back to fix it but it's just hard keeping up with a salon you have to make sure you are getting what you pay for..which you should be. That last "wellness cut" was the last straw. Waste of money. read more

I never leave reviews but I need to share. This was a really disappointing experience. I went for a consult and booked asking for a specific stylist who was referred to me by someone in the hair industry. When I got there, they had me sit with someone else instead, which is fine. It happens, right? I was getting hair extensions for my wedding, and because of this, I told them I was on a time crunch to get it done in time. (they knew this was very important to me.) So if you've never had extension before, the salon has a swatch of different colors, and they have to match your hair so they can order packets of your perfect extensions. So, she matched my hair color and went to order them through the extension company's website (Luscious Co. orders the hair and doesn't keep it in stock) On the website, they couldn't find that specific color (a sign they were keeping an old swatch in the store to "match" hair color.) - the hair that was my color wasn't being sold anymore. They discontinued that color. But at the time, Luscious didn't know this, and thought it was just not on the website for some reason. Not knowing this, they told me to go home and they would call me the following day to let me know that the hair was ordered and that I could come in to get them installed. Four days later I still hadn't received a call. So I picked up the phone and called them, only to be told "Oh.. yeah we called and that company doesn't make that hair color anymore. Amber will give you a call later to talk about next steps. She's with a client right now but i'll have her call you back later today." Um... What? Like why hasn't anyone called me to tell me this. My wedding is literally right around the corner! No joke I am embarrassed to say this, but i started to cry! My hair is too short to be styled right now for a wedding... I was banking on these extensions. I waited for Amber to call me so we could discuss next steps. But Amber never called me. I never got a call from anyone at the salon. Literally more than a full week later, Amber calls me to tell me "the hair color isn't in stock anymore." -- This lack of communication, poor follow up and neglect of the client really disappointed me. If anyone out there is looking for extensions - please be weary. Go to someone you trust who values your experience as much as you do. read more

This review for LL&L is from two perspectives: their on-location bridal service and their in-salon haircare service. For our wedding last August, we hired LL&L to come to the suite and service my entire bridal party. It was an amazing experience, I've never seen such a diverse group of girls be so happy with each of their looks. From the perspective of the bride, I was thrilled. The wedding day was exactly what I wanted: stress free, fun and relaxing. The team couldn't have been more fun or professional to work with. I was thrilled with my look and so thankful that I hired this team to come beautify my girls and I on my big day! Flash forward about a year later and I decided to venture to LL&L's new salon for some birthday beautification. I live about 45 minutes away from the salon, but to me it was well worth the drive. The salon is gorgeous, relaxed and a good time. They carry the eufora line which happens to be my favorite as it is all-natural and aloe based. This was my first time venturing into the world of color, and the girls put my mind at ease and gave me exactly the look I was hoping for: soft, subtle and warm while still remaining professional for my career. I definitely plan to return next time I need a refresh and think I've finally found my go-to salon. Overall, I couldn't have been happier with either of the experiences I've had with the LL&L team. We used Luscious Locks and Lashes for my wedding on 9/26/15 and LOVE them! I live in Brooklyn, am unfamiliar with CT, but was getting married in New Haven. Liz was so great from as soon as I contacted her about giving me all the information I needed, answering any little question I had, etc. My hair and make up trial was really great - I came out to CT and spent a good amount of time that day testing out different looks, going over my bridal vision, etc. The wedding day was just as great! Liz and staff are some of the best professionals I've ever had the pleasure with working with across ANY industry, and it was such a relief to know I could wholeheartedly trust them on my wedding day to make my vision come to life. We got ready that day in the gorgeous private bridal salon, and our 3-year-old even got her hair done and a little lip gloss with absolutely no trouble at all. They were really great with her, and the flower girl woke up the next morning asking if she could go back to get her "princess hair" again! :-) I'd recommend them time and time again! This review is for Asian brides. Probably doesn't pertain to anyone else. I originally hired them last year for my wedding day. I wanted to get all my vendors booked early and done and over with. When I initially spoke to them, they said they were skilled in doing makeup for all ethnicities. I held off doing my trial until closer to my wedding date, due to the recommendation that I might need a second trial if I were to do a trial too early like a year in advance. As someone who wears minimal makeup, I thought any makeup artist would be better than myself. What can go wrong with this place that has wonderful reviews and awards best of knot hall of fame etc, so I went ahead and booked. I did my trial last week, and ended up letting them go and doing a mad dash to find someone who specializes in Asian bridal look for my wedding in 7 weeks from now. Beautiful studio, nice friendly ladies. The makeup artist I worked with was extra gentle with my sensitive eyes when putting on the eye makeup. I initially wanted to to continue working with them since they were so nice and did try to make me happy but in the end, I couldn't if I was going to be honest with myself and if I wanted a stress free wedding day not having to worry about how I and my wedding party would look. For me, it came down to western vs Asian beauty standards. I brought at least 5 pictures of the standard East Asian bride look (Chinese, Korean, Japanese) and had shown them, but somehow everything was lost in translation and they did what they would normally do. The only thing I liked was the eyes after some adjustments. What I really disliked was the rest of the face and complexion. There is a big difference in how Asian makeup is done vs western makeup. Asian makeup focuses on brightness and uses shades that are a bit lighter than actual skin tone and uses blush to give a more youthful look. The look is more subtle and makes the person look youthful and cute. The western look focuses on dramatic, dark eye brows and contouring the face with bronzers. So let's just say I was quite shocked by my look where I looked like I was in my late 50s or older post my trial when I'm only in my early 30s and look much younger than that. They also had me faced away from the mirror, so I couldn't see how I looked until the big reveal, which my reaction was sheer shock and I didn't even know where to begin. I did go to work afterwards with the full makeup on and multiple people who are Asian told me I looked better without having any on. That was really upsetting. The final straw was Mom and my fiancé who both said I was better off doing my own makeup. They did offer me to come in for second trial and was more than willing to work with me. But as I am very particular, I was looking for someone who not only does Asian makeup, but is an expert at it. I'm not an expert at makeup and I would rather be able to show pictures and for someone be able do what is necessary without me having to micromanage. I wanted a stress free day and not have to worry about myself or the other 4 asian ladies on the day and not have to supervise their work. Otherwise, I really liked the studio. My bridal hair was rushed and appointment time "HAD" to be changed two days before my wedding when I had booked the appointment months in advance. Way earlier than expected and my hair did not last as well as I'd liked because it has to be done so much earlier. My hair was overly kinked when adding the clip ins causing major knots and breakage afterwards. read more

Beautiful place, delightful staff...but my tape-in hair extensions fell out in 6 days. The tape never bonded. I followed thier instructions for after care to the T, used the $80 shampoo and conditioner they sold me and yet day #6 21 of 26 tape-ins were slipping out. In their defense they did offer to place them back iny hair. I did refuse. What would be the point? So they can slip back out. I'm now left with a box of expensive useless hair, $80 worth of extension shampoo, a horrible haircut on my head due to the hair blending process, and crushed dreams of long flowing hair. A portion was refunded after many conversation. But I'm still out $300 of hard earned money with no real explanation of why this happened. Just BEWARE... read more

I found luscious locks and lashes while driving home from breakfast up the street noticing the sign as I drove by on Howe Ave. After checking out their website I booked an appointment for a blowout and makeup, for our upcoming family portrait session. The entire experience was phenomenal, from walking up the steps into the salon, to the welcoming customer service, through the AMAZING final results of the hair and makeup services. Even my photographer couldn't stop remarking on how great they eye makeup looked in the photos. I have to say everyone here was so friendly and welcoming, I was afraid I might feel out of place as I have in other salons, but they make you feel right at home and their work was stunning. Beautiful place with the kindest staff. I had high hopes for this place. I went in to make an appointment to dye my hair brown and have it cut. One color, no dimension. I specifically said "cut and color" several times to the girl at the desk. She gave me an appointment for 2 weeks into the future, not bad. My appointment was for a Friday night from 4-6. Normally I would've avoided Friday night but 6 is not extremely late so I made sure my plans weren't until after 6 that night. I was getting my hair done by the stylist I wanted and was happy about it. About 10 minutes in, my stylist that I had booked for weeks decided that she was going to leave me and go do someone else's hair. I'm assuming this person either just walked in right then and was deemed more important than me, or this place is not organized what so ever. An apprentice did "the rest" of the job of my hair. The stylist took a few minutes to explain to her what to do at first, and as soon as the stylist left the apprentice did not listen to anything the stylist told her. The appointment ultimately took an hour and a half longer than what I was told. I also reminded her that I had booked a haircut too and the apprentice informed me that she is not allowed to cut hair and I would have to wait for the stylist to finish what she was doing with the walk in. At this point, an hour and a half later than I was supposed to be done and my plans for the night having to be changed, I just left without the haircut. I was not rude and tipped well because they were all kind but generally I'm very unhappy and will not be going back there and will discourage anyone that tells me they might want to try this place read more
