I can only say wonderful things about Aqua Salon! The staff is really qualified and talented. I have short hair and Karen has been styling me for the last couple years. It is not easy to find someone good with a razor and as a women, it can be challenging to look different when you have a pixie cut. Karen has been very receptive with my demands (I can be pretty peculiar about what I want) and I always left the salon very happy. As a matter of fact, I get stopped very often by strangers (women in general) who ask me where I get my hair done! I also get my children's hair cut at Aqua. There is a discount available for kids on Wednesdays. I've had too many horror stories at the barbershop, it is well worth taking them at Aqua and the price for them is reasonable. read more

It is not easy to find a a decent salon here where they have experience with cutting Asian-type hair. I had one bad experience at another salon also in Shelton prior to visiting Aqua and because of that it took me a while to want to try a different place again. However, I needed a haircut badly so I thought I'd give it a shot (it was about a year since I last had my hair cut!). The salon is located in a corporate park in Shelton inside a fancy urban-style office building. We parked in the common garage and it was only after visiting the salon that I found out it has its own parking area so quite convenient. Th salon is very nicely decorated albeit being small but cozy. My experience was quite pleasant. I used their online appointment system as a new visitor and it was very simple and straightforward to use. I was assigned to a lady named Karen by the automated system. She was very pleasant and friendly. And I could see that she has great skills. My hair was shoulder when I walked in and I came out with a nice short bob (layered and nicely bobbed lol). I got such great compliments the next day from my family and coworkers! I will definitely return to Aqua for my next appointment :) read more

I'm one of those customers who comes in wanting something different done to my hair, but with no ideas, pictures, etc. Christine always comes up with either a new cut or a new color and I've never been disappointed. My fiance suprised me with a day at the spa. The spa was very clean and neat. I started off with a pedicure and it was very nice. I also got a manicure and the woman did a great job except she cut my hairs really short when I asked for her to keep them long. Also they had my massage scheduled after my nail apt. As I was filling out the paper work for my massage I smugged my nail and had to get it fixed. The woman just put clear nail polish over it instead of fixing the nail. I originally picked this salon based purely on convenience/proximity (I'm from out of town and was heading to a wedding), but was blown away by the service I received. Cat was exceptional - she jumped in last minute to do a brow wax and a blow out, and I could not have been more pleased. I'm very particular about my brows, and she did an excellent job. The blowout was one of the best I've had in the past several years -- perfect volume, movement, shine, etc. Not only did the blowout/curls look amazing when she finished, but they stood up to the humidity/rain that afternoon, and held all though the wedding ceremony/reception. I had awesome second day hair, too -- can't ask for much more than that. Not only was the final product fantastic, but she was sweet, fun and talkative; I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment and my time with her. This place is great! I have been a couple times and the people are always very friendly and inviting. On my most recent trip, I finally broke down and got my haircut. I am usually really picky about this, so I usually avoid doing it for long periods of time. Angela was fantastic! The cut was exactly what I wanted and, even better, she styled it perfectly. Many times at other salons, the person will style my hair in a way that I would never ever wear it (usually poofy 80s--really?!). I really felt like she took into account how I normally style my hair (how I came in, asking me questions about using products, etc.), and it looked great. I wished I had somewhere to go afterwards! I have been going to Aqua Salon for years now. I have either Adrienne (awesome, current, trendy) or one of the owners Todd (God Todd) cut my hair. Seriously the best haircuts i have ever had. They are professional and friendly and listen to your wants and needs and take the time to review your hair and what would be best for the shape of your face. Their products are top notch, and the place is beautiful and clean. The prices are a little high, but you get what you pay for and with some absolute nightmares i have had to save a couple of bucks it is not worth it!!!!! Booked an appointment for a blow out because I was in town for a wedding. The salon was clean and beautifully decorated. I had my hair blown out by Collin, who I hate to say it, was pretty rude and insulting. I wanted a pretty standard blow out with volume. He was in a rush because it was snowing and he wanted to leave. After he washed my hair, he put heat protectant in it and began to blow it out. No volume products, no root booster, nothing ... except wax ... wax ... he was frustrated that my hair wasn't cooperating... asking a fellow stylist for suggestions, it was clear by the face she made that he had made an error both in the product he put in my hair and in the brush he was using. After some more frustration, telling me that I should have just done my hair straight, and some more insults and colorful language, he used an iron. The first pass ... he went the wrong way with the iron. I couldn't finish fast enough ... for me or him ... I went back to my hotel and used a curling iron and got beautiful curl in my hair that lasted the rest of the night. I left feeling like I basically donated $40 to the salon, and was insulted about my hair over and over again. I gave the salon 2 stars because it was a beautiful space and I hope that my experience with Collin wasn't reflective of the other staff in the salon. I love my normal stylist at home and would give her a 10/10 any day ... when I see her next week ... she s getting an extra special thank you for being amazing! read more

My mom is going through intense radiation and chemo, and has just reached the point where her hair started falling out. I called this salon and Lisa at the front desk was friendly and understanding of what my mom needed. She got us booked the same day to get her head shaved. Marco came out and took extra time with to sit and talk with my mom before taking all her hair off. Jason shaved my brothers head at the same time. For 25 years I was using a barber where my haircut was merely satisfactory but not bad. I've used Todd for a few months now and I must say he is a true sculptor. What's the most impressive is the consistency and that is what prompted this review. I did not want to review after the first two or three stellar cuts. I started coming here a few years back when I was working in the same building. Ask anyone in there, and they'll know me as the girl who walked in with hair past her shoulders and made Karen shave half of it off. I've done highlights, extreme to moderate cuts, and every time I've walked out of there looking and feeling awesome. Aqua's stylists are creative and intuitive, while still taking direction well. They're always friendly, I always got compliments for even my weirdest hair choices. The only thing I didn't like about was the hours! They close shortly after most people's work hours during the week, and they're not open Sunday. I recently moved, so I'm missing this place something fierce. I have been going to Marco for about a year and a half, and I love him. First of all, the salon is beautiful and the staff at the front desk are so friendly. I decided to go to this salon in Nov of 06' because a co-worker recommended it. I called to make an appointment for a full foil and cut, and they scheduled it with Marco, who is one of the owners. I was so happy with my first appointment with Marco; he is very creative and comes up with new ideas to cut and color my hair. I am always satisifed when I leave the salon, and I get tons of compliments on my hair. I think the prices are fair for Fairfield County, but I do not mind paying to have great service. I have gone to many different salons in the past, and I usually find that after you have been going to one stylist for a few months, they tend to get lazy. But Marco has continued to give great cuts, he colors my hair beautifully and I am always happy with the results. They also sell the L'Oreal Professional haircare line which I love. Any problems I have ever had with my skin, she has fixed with just one session. Collin is also an amazing hair genius!
