Not familiar with this group directly, but through a family member. We picked up a Morky that had surgery to repair a strained Achilles heel. The doctor was very friendly and accommodating when it came to the many calls that were made to check on the dogs progress. The doctor and assistants have been constantly checking on the dogs healing process which I found very professional. They have high marks from me. read more

After 2 years, I have had enough of bringing my dog here. Yes, they are overpriced compared to the average veterinarian clinics in the area. But that's okay. It was the rudeness and condescending attitude that did me in. An appointment made weeks earlier for 12:30 was magically changed. Inconveniencing dogs is okay. They don't know the difference. This review is long but please read. I have taken my pets over the years to many vets both in the USA and in Ireland. The vets in Ireland are great as is this place. I have heard that some people say this practice is expensive. Given the quality and care I do not believe so. Your pets are like family and I have lost pets before but when there is no professionalism or abruptness it is so painful especially when your pet is given no consideration. Even when money is tight, you want to do your best for your animals. ALL the vets at A and A are very professional and caring. Our regular vet is Dr. Peterman and she is so good. She is very gentle with our dogs and could not recommend her or this practice more. She is also very knowledgeable. She takes time and explains everything and puts you at ease. . The technicians and front staff are also very nice and caring. ------------------------ On a side note, our older dog ate some pate (containing trace amounts of onions and garlic) we did not know this was dangerous and a family member just gave a bit to our dogs. Very many human prepared foods have these seasoning and other foods can also be very toxic to animals. Please educate yourself. Even in trace amounts our wee dog got quite sick. I believe he could have been saved, - but A & A was unfortunately not open in the middle of the night and my wife who got scared and took our dog to central veterinary Associates, in valley stream, NY for sickness and, or other medicine. They charged us nearly a 1,000 and after a few minutes of an exam they rushed us into putting our dog to sleep. Even for the cremation they padded the bill and the crematorium actually quoted us a lot less. No other tests were done and he was really only vomiting that day. Indeed the vet told us over the phone (as we had to wait outside) that he was vomiting, and was in discomfort during the exam. I wanted other things to be done and the vet at CVA gave us no hope. They just could not be bothered to take care of him. His (medical record- CVA) name, chart and conditions were written up incorrectly. They said no vomiting on the medical record and also made no mention that he consumed pate (onions and garlic). Both my wife and I told them it was pate, and the vet dismissed this as a cause. They told us it was liver failure and there was nothing really could be done, because there could be other damage to other organs and recommenced putting him to sleep. We were too shocked and trusted them. We are devastated and I know if we took our dog to A and A he would most likely be still alive. Even if fatal, they would have done tests and bloods and not just give him a strong pain killer that knocked him out, (this particular pain killer is not recommended for older dogs or dogs that supposed have liver issues). The vet at CVA, told me that the dog had a fast/irregular heart rate and jaundice. We did not see jaundice and even if this was the case, these are the exact symptoms of garlic poisoning. On the medical report they listed a liver failure and heart disease, but there was never any previous diagnosis of these conditions. Plus they wanted the money paid before they put our dog to sleep. Extremely callous. Take my advise please trust your pets to A and A. I took my other two dogs here today and they are running tests, but they seem to be fine. I brought my 2 year old cat to see Dr. Allard and she said that he had very bad gingivitis and that I should schedule a $1200 dental procedure right away! I was very upset about this, and I decided to get a second and third opinion. I brought him to New Hyde Park animal hospital and was told that his teeth look BEAUTIFUL! Hmm imagine that? And we also asked the vet tech who comes to cut his nails and she said that there's nothing wrong with his teeth. What kind of person would be so cruel to me and my baby? She said I needed to schedule the dental procedure right away! She was going to put my baby under anesthesia for no reason. That's just cruel to prey on him for money. Don't become a veterinarian if you can't be honest and kind. I took many of my pets there over the years and now I wonder what else they were lying about. She should be ashamed of herself and honestly the last few years, I was starting to feel like that place was shady and ripping me off. Never again!! read more

I can't say enough about good things about A&A Veterinary Hospital. I dealt with them quite often in the care of my sick dog over the past 6 months or so. They really care and go way beyond what is expected for you and your pet. Beyond the care and kindness they treat you with, technically they were excellent in diagnosing and treating my dog. My dog was very, very old and after time he deteriorated and we had to make the tough decision to put him down. They were there until the very end with us, accommodating us and making us feel like they were family. Dr. Luongo herself is a saint. The nurses there are also fantastic, caring and gentle. Wherever I end up in life, should I have another pet, I will always return there for care. read more

I bring my doggie to my usual vet for check ups and boarding and the like, and she loves it. And they love her. She comes home relaxed, waggy and sleepy from all the play time. And she really is a low maintenance dog by means of, she doesn't have special meds and she rarely gets sick...just scratch her head, give her a cookie and feed her and she's a happy dog. My vet, unfortunately got damaged very badly in the hurricane and hasn't been able to take boarders yet, so I brought my puppy to their covering facility whilst out of town. 1. I brought my dog there, and called ahead of time, to let them know I was coming. They didn't have my paperwork. In fact, they didn't even remember I was coming, even though I had confirmed my appointment twice with them. 2. The receptionist was clearly flustered. Which wouldn't be so bad, if she wasn't rude on top of stupid. She was also incredibly annoyed she had to handle a client of a different clinic, and vocal about it. C'mon, jerkoff, if you're mad you have to work....fine. But don't make it apparent in front of someone paying you...who has a crowbar in her car and no qualms about knocking you out. 2a. I give my dog food from the vet, and I didn't know if they carried her brand, so I brought a bag with me. When I handed it to the kid collecting my dog, he turned to walk away and I said "doncha wanna know what her feeding is?" He seemed lost, or stoned, and said "oh, yea. I guess so." I'm SURE the fed her correctly....not. 3. I asked them to call me when they had the paperwork, just so I knew they had my contact and emergency contact info. I'm sure you know....they did not. 4. When I returned, I called at 9am to find out when I should pick my dog up. The lady said "is she supposed to get a bath?" You tell me,idiot, you work there. And yes, of course she's supposed to get a bath, I don't want her bringing home your cooties. She must have read her chart, because she then realized they had a couple other animals getting picked up and told me to call back around 130 to pick a time. It's going to take you 4 hours to bathe a short haired pitbull? I used to work at a vet, just hose her off and let her take a lap around the room she'll be ready in an hour, tops. But fine...I call back at 140, they tell me to come between 2 and 8. I tell her I'll be there at 3. 5. I promptly show up when I said I would, and the woman behind the desk, who was the same person on intake, was still confused. It took her a half an hour to find my chart, and calculate 5 nights at 35 dollars. And she complained the entire. Friggin. Time. I nearly reached across the counter, figured her math for her, and clonked her in the head. I paid in cash, which completely threw her off her game. I finally get my dog, and quite honestly if she hadn't been in the state she was in, I would have overlooked the complete incompetence of the support staff, but she was a ball if nerves. Generally, when I pick my dog up, she's having the time of her life. Today, she could barely wait to get to my car. When she got in the car, she was visibly agitated and breathing heavily until we got back to a road she recognized. Then...she relaxed. When we got home, she dank 4 gallons of water and passed out cold. I don't know what they did to her, but I'm never bringing her back there again. read more

i've been a cat mom for little over a year now, and the moment one of my cats had a cold i was referred to dr longo from the woman i rescued my babies from. since then, she's been so dedicated to all of my cats and so wonderfully helpful on educating me on everything that's been going on. we lost milo due to something out of human control and since then she's done the most to make me feel secure in the most honest way possible with his sister and i can't thank her enough. i've had second opinions done by 2 other veterinarians in Dr Longo's absence and they've all been incredibly helpful and compassionate. it's worth every penny to get the best for your furr babies even though i dread the hold music lol. thank you all read more

My dog had an operation for a cyst last year. I got a paper before the operation listing what everything was going to cost. Just before the operation the Dr. called and said there would be an additional cost for the anesthetic to put the dog under for the operation. Why wasn't this included on the paper I was given about the cost of the operation? Today I brought my dog in for a $70 haircut. They had given the dog his shots in January. When I got there I was told he needed an additional vaccination shot before he could get his haircut. So the final price was $169. This was the second and last time I will be going to A & A. They do not tell you all the costs before you bring your pet in. They are unethical. read more

We brought our cat to see Dr Allard because we needed something to calm him for an airplane trip. Dr Allard couldn't be more helpful. She called everyday to see how her suggestions were working as a trail before the trip. Then when we arrived at our destination Dr Allard called to see how the cat was! I have found that A&A Veterinary Hospital in general, and Dr. Longo in particular, provides competent and compassionate care to the animals I have brought there. I travel from a distance to bring my greyhound dog to A&A, especially for diagnostic work and for procedures requiring sedation or anesthesia. The staff at the reception area are pleasant and efficient and the vet techs are very helpful. read more

This place is terrible. My dog has a bulging thing and they said they could do a surgery and estimated to be $1000. They charged me $1500 and they didn't even remove the bulging stuff saying that it's very complicated. So, basically I paid $1,500 for a spay. They talked nice but watch your bill. I've only been there once so far, but I was really happy with the service. I took my dog in for a six-month bordetella booster, and Dr Longo was really great. She did a checkup, answered all my questions, and even trimmed her dew claws for me (I was a little scared to do it myself). When I was checking out, they didn't even charge me for a visit (maybe because we really were there just for the bordetella and nothing else?), but just the cost of the booster and six months' worth of Heartguard. There is absolutely nothing good about this place. From receptionist to doctors to care. Receptionist is extremely rude and have no customer service skills. They only care about money, they don't care for the well being of the animals. They used sedatives for an X-ray. ( when I went for a second option, they did not need to sedate my dog) after blood work and X-rays they can't seem to find out why my pup is ill. Barely any recommendations, next steps. Keep pushing for repeat of the same test for more money. Did not offer any pain medication for my pup to take home when she is clearly in a lot of pain. You don't feel any love or care from them, it's just a business for them and their attitude towards the animals is proof. They wanted to charged me $60 to get a copy of the X-ray when they had already charged me $295 for them to get it done ( the vet I went to for the 2nd option, emailed me a copy of the X-ray that was performed without me asking for it and it was at no cost) I had already paid to get them, why am I getting charged for a copy of them?! A Few weeks ago my pet parakeet was ill. He had a tumor and was rapidly dying. I called A&A veterinarian and they gave me an emergency appointment. They were very caring and considerate. I showed up 25 minutes late due to traffic and they still saw my parakeet right away. The doctor was so sweet and compassionate. Unfortunately the bird had passed away. Although, the doctor did everything she could. I wanted to share that, because this doctors office does not specialize in birds, but still did whatever they could. I have been to many vets previously & this is the first tine I am absolutely satisfied with the veterinary care given by Dr. Luongo. She is so knowledgable, caring, cost-conscious & empathetic. With nothing to gain after the recent passing of my dog, she actually went out of her way to give me a condolence phonecall (I wasn't home & she left a condolence message on my answering machine). I've been coming here for years. They're a bit pricey but the doctors are caring and friendly & I've always felt comfortable leaving my pets in their hands. My favorite doctor is Dr. Anastasiou. He's just so compassionate and wonderful, which is funny b/c he's a hulk of a guy, so it's a contrast. When we had to put down my old German Shepherd, even he cried-not bawling or anything but he did wipe at tears. Our cat got sick and we had to take him to a vet on Sunday. A+A took him in. They were caring an Dr. Longo was compassionate and explained everything . My wife was allowed to spend a lot of time with the cat each day of his hospitalization and each day they were helpful an gave updates. The cat is now fine. A+A will now be our regular vet. By the way-they asked for payment at the time of discharge-not in advance. There is a sign at the receptionist saying that Bill's are payable after treatment. read more

Brought my Budgie here last year when she had a very large lump on her abdomen. The vet did a quick exam and decided that she must have an egg developing and told me that it can take up to ten days to form, and gave me calcium drops for her. Well, I didn't feel comfortable with this answer when she wasn't getting better after 10 days of calcium, so I took her to my usual bird vet, who found out through a sonogram that it was a giant BLOOD filled sac that needed to be aspirated. If I hadn't taken her to get this checked and drained, she probably would've died. Very expensive bill, which would've been ok if I didn't have to pay to take her to a second vet due to the misdiagnosis. read more

One of our dogs was a rescue from the pound and while he was very loving with my wife and myself he was not good with strangers and yet Dr. Longo had a special way with him so he was at ease and we were able to get him whatever treatment was needed. We brought our pug to Dr. Anastasiou for YEARS and he always received top-notch, warm and compassionate care. Dr. Anastasiou always goes above and beyond for his "patients" and their families. Unfortunately, at age 14, medicine couldn't help our Neo anymore and the hardest of decisions needed to be made. Dr. Anastasiou took care of everything personally, with tears in his eye himself! Within a week, we received a BEAUTIFUL hand-written note from Doc, not only expressing his condolences but with the most beautiful message to try and console us that we made the right decision and let us know that are precious pup would always be with us. We've been bringing my dog here for about a year and they would sedate my dog every visit because they claim he's too aggressive. The receptionist is very rude ! Today i found a new veterinarian that did not sedate my dog even though he is not the biggest fan of the vet's office. They even gave me a hard time to get my dog's medical records. First time at this Vet hospital yesterday April 30th , 2018. My dog Peppino has been scratching his ear for a week so it was time to see a vet. Was given a appointment for 3pm...Arrived at 245pm and was greeted by a wonderful and warm hearted front desk person named Sue. She is very informative and gave us a paper to fill out. At approximately 305pm we were brought in and Peppino was seen by Doctor Allard. This Doctor was very nice and right away said he had a infection in his right ear.. Gave him medication and we were on our way. If you are looking for honest and professional people this is the place to go. You will not be disappointed. Kudos again for front desk Sue thanks for all your help. Will also be leaving Peppino here for a few days in August when we go on vacation. I want to share the disturbing scenario which resulted in the death of my Annie. During the course of her Renal Disease it was discovered in January 2012 that my spayed Annie had a very sick uterus and what appeared to be a very sick left ovary. Due to renal disease it was determined it was too risky to perform the surgery to remove the diseased reproductive organs. These body parts had supposedly been removed August 10, 2004 when she was SPAYED!!! by Dr Friedman of A&A Veterinary Hospital of Franklin Square, NY. When my vet called A&A to follow up, she was told that Annie was not spayed there and they had no records of such. They wouldn't even speak with her nor consult about a sick greyhound. REALLY??? So NOT the case! On August 11, 2004 when I picked her up she had the sutures, I had/have the signed Spay Certificate & the adoption group had/has the receipt for services rendered including the spay surgery. Annie had a very strong will to live - to the amazement and awe of many - she persevered- she was a fighter. Sadly, very suddenly in the afternoon of February 25th, Annie became very painfully sick - her uterus had ruptured. Annie became septic and she died in my arms.... I find it incredibly ludicrous that the Drs at A&A Veterinary Hospital function in this incompetent, unaccountable and careless manner. As far as I am concerned - they killed my Annie Besides the heartbreak of her death - I am trying to come to terms with the reasons behind her death. read more

Our current dog has many problems, but Dr. Longo has gone out of her way to keep our dog healthy and happy. Dr. Longo provides professional care with a special compassion.
