Go at your own risk. In this economy, the pricing at this hospital is absolute highway robbery, and they completely take advantage of desperate pet parents. They will quote you certain fees over the phone, but once you show up in person, the cost of their medication is astronomically high and extremely pricey. They are not upfront about their fees, and they do not follow through on the care they claim they will provide. To make matters worse, the front desk staff is entirely incompetent. I literally spelled out my pet's name to the first receptionist, and she still misspelled it so badly that someone else had to call me back later just to confirm and fix it. How do you misspell something that was explicitly spelled out to you? If they are hiring people who lack basic attention to detail at the front desk, it makes you question the management of the entire facility. Save your money, avoid the stress, and take your animals to Petco instead. My family and I have been bringing our animals to Hilton Animal Hospital for a combined 40 years. They earned our trust for the care they provided through the years. Until I called in response to their reminder that my 3 fur babies needed appointments. I could not afford the estimated $1500 up front for all 3 fur babies and they refused to give me a payment plan of $200-$300 a month. I was so shocked I asked I asked again and the most they were willing to do was take 10% off the bill that I could not afford to pay! In my opinion they do not care about the animals they refused care to. I will never step foot in that place again! Thank God for Vetco vets and staff that are providing quality care and compassion and not worrying about their vanity plate on their new Mercedes. In 10 years as a client, several times waiting for my appointment because they dont have their **** together, the day I needed most, Hilton animal hospital refused to check my dog because of less than 5 minutes delay in the middle of the day. They also blamed me for my dog being fat, supposedly I was feeding too much, when she actually had Cushing desease, which THEY TOOK OVER A YEAR TO PROPERÑY DIAGNOSE. Absolutely love this vet! We have been using them for over 30 years. My dog sees Dr. C for her vet. She is very knowledgable and great with my shepherd. I went to take my dog for a kennel stay for a week. Like the previous time, they insisted that I pay for a Flu shot for my dog, which, by their own veterinarian's admission, is not proven to work. What's more, she said, is that you have to get two shots, within three weeks or so, before it would even be effective. My dog would only be here 6 days. However, I would still have to pay for it as it is required. That makes no sense the dog will still be fully vulnerable for the stay. I understand the requirement to have a check up by their doctor in order to board your dog. But forcing a vaccine that will not be effective for your pets stay is just a revenue producer. When I talked to the doctor about this policy he asked, "Do you think I'm going to pay for it?" Instead of answering my question about the efficacy and usefulness of it, he clearly was only responding to a monetary motive. I caution anyone subjecting their pet to this likely unnecessary shot to do your research before going in. Once they have you there, adding another $30 is easier to justify paying, but likely just a way to raise fees to the owners. There is an article in the NY times on December 12, 2015 addressing the shot knows and unknowns. But one thing for sure, the requirement to have one shot is not going to protect your dog. We have been taking our dogs here since the 90s and they have always been kind and caring. However today I took my aging dog who had a stroke there and was treated so poorly by dr Strom. He was rude and condescending and snapped at me several times when I asked any questions. He had no patience or compassion what so ever. Very sad and disappointing. read more

I'm not sure how to start this review, so I'll just say this- they're awesome! When my Shar Pei got sick, I was looking online for places that deal with this breed of dogs, as besides the fact that it's one of the rarest breeds, many vets are not familiar with the particular diseases of this breed. I've had some bad experiences in the past. So I stumbled upon the name of Dr.Strom, on a Shar pei owner website, and I've decided to give them a call. I've made an appointment, Dr. Strom was very pleasant and friendly throughout the whole consultation - and weirdly enough, my dog which is really not friendly around humans, was pretty calm the whole consultation. They've run some tests, and I did not feel that they were trying to sell me anything not needed, like other vet practices did in the past. Dr. Strom followed up for the next days with the results, explained me my options in a friendly yet professional manner. The whole experience is enough to earn them 5 stars, but they went well beyond their duty. How? Well, the sickness of my pet is a fast advancing one , and any day without treatment means less time I get to spend with her. So I called on a Saturday to arrange pick up for the needed medicine. Dr Strom was not in, so I asked if some other vet could fill up the prescription. The receptionist told me she can check with the vet and let me know. Couple minutes later, she said that they can arrange that, and I'd need to get there before 2.30, their closing time. It's worth mentioning that it was already 1 pm, and it would have taken me well over 2 hours to get there. Other places probably would have said though luck, come back on Monday. But they arranged to have the prescription filled up at one of my local pharmacies, and have it picked up from there. Not only they've made it possible for my pet to get her medicine on time, they saved me a ton of effort, but what's most important , is the fact that they put my pet well being above making a buck, as probably they also get commissions from selling the medicine, and they gave that up, which is something not many practices or people would do , this day and age, where everything is just a crazy race for profits. So I'll just end up saying THANK YOU, HILTON ANIMAL HOSPITAL , GOD BLESS YOU, and you've got yourselves a customer for life. We have been bringing our dogs ( as many as 5) here for almost 10 years. At some point during that time , Vetcor a corporation that owns many Vet Hospitals purchased the hospital and has slowly been making changes. We first noticed around 3 years ago, when they referred us out to a Vet Specialty for a surgical procedure that was identical to one they had done on our oldest dogs Dudley just 2 years prior. Over the last 2 years 3 of our dogs needed to be Euthanized. Once again we were referred out to receive a definitive diagnosis. Now one of our dogs needs a surgical extraction of a lower canine tooth. Once again we were referred out to a Vet Dentist whose first appointment is 6 weeks out. This specialist is located almost an hour away from the office. In short while the Drs. Strom and Nutini are excellent, it is obvious some corporate bean counter has decided it is far more profitable to treat healthy animals than to deal with acute or chronic illness and/ or injuries. I found it to be disappointing to visit this Hospital all these years ,develop a relationship and trust with a Vet and then when you need to make tough decisions they send you out and have to deal with strangers. It is unfortunate , but this once proud and competent Hospital has become little more than a clinic for well visits and vaccines. Do yourself a favor, and use a Vet Hospital that is privately owned and will be available to you and your pet in your time of need. I came across this hospital while doing animal rescue. I live close by, and use another Vet for my own babies. But I fell so in love with the staff here at Hilton. They genuinely care for animals. And if you find an animal in need they are willing to work with you. The animals genuinely come first and i will always love them for that. Some of the sweetest people ever. LOVE Dr. Strom!!!! I recently moved back to Long Island from the city and haven't been to Hilton Animal Hospital for years. They were so great years ago and was hoping things haven't changed. Consistency is key!!!! I brought one of my dogs in because I saw a growth on his leg. Dr. Strom could have easily suggested a biopsy that would have cost lots...he thought it was an infection so he sent me home with an antibiotic and said "if it's not gone in 2 weeks come back". Well it's been about a week and it is 60% better! The prices were very fare and he even clipped his nails for no added charge. Go anywhere else but here!!!! So my beautiful cat Leela was a patient here a while back. One day out of the blue, her front paws were completely paralyzed. This happen right after her insurance expired and I didn't have the thousands of dollars for MRI or any surgery that was needed. I took her to one of the vets here and was immediately met with attitude. I told her there was a possibility that a tick and flea spray did this to her. NUMEROUS people complain about the same EXACT flea spray causing neurological problems within their pets. She completely brush off what I had to say and starting stating her own UNPROFESSIONAL bias opinion on how it was most likely cancer (because her cat died of cancer). She did absolutely nothing for my pet and kept suggesting I put my cat down, and even suggest I was being selfish for keeping her alive. After receiving the bill from this do nothing vet, I went to another vet. They told me it was little they can do without running expensive testes, but they're willing to help Leela. They gave Leela pain medication, steroids and fluids to keep her hydrated. I also massaged her everyday and gave her hemp oil. Within three months my cat slowly started moving her paws, six months she started walking a little bit. Now after a year she is COMPLETELY HEALED!!! She back to walking like her old self again. I'm so thrilled I didn't listen to the Hilton vet, my cat would be dead right now. Instead she thriving and more energetic than ever!!! read more

My family has used this vet since I was a kid. So when I moved back to Long Island, I was more than happy to use them for my two little "demon" beagles. From the minute you enter the place you can tell that they are concerned about your pet. From the vet techs to the veterinarians, they handle and treat your pet as if he/she were their own. The vets are upfront and honest with you about your pets issues and they never try to "force" you into a decision about your pet. I have found their advice and suggestions well thought out. One of the things that makes me envious of my hounds is that the vets seem to spend more time with them during their appointment than my doctor spends with me. In fact, my youngest pooch, Monte loves going to Hilton Animal Hospital so much that he tries to drag me to the examination area as soon as he walks through the front door. I have a loving female dog who's name is Lady and after being a bad lil girl and got into my kitchen trash after dinner one night had the unfortunate happenstance to end up as a patient of Central Veterinary Associates in Valley Stream. They are absolutely the worst I have ever even heard of in care, professionalism and concern and their rate schedules make you feel like you're in sweat shop buying humans. NOT that I ever have but this experience is as vulgar as you can imagine. Once I got past the miserable front end staff who barely look at you because they are way too busy doing important stuff like texting on their phones. But I'm trying not to hate so I play follow the leader and do what they say to do. Finally, I am in the exam room holding my lil Lady who is looking sicker by the minute and now shaking from fear. (BIG CLUE but yea I missed it). I'm holding, comforting and trying to reassure my precious lil girl as I am literally in shock with my mouth hanging open listening to this alien doctor go over a menu of procedures and prices that they tell me is absolutely necessary and even had the nerve to add "if you love her as much as you say you do then I should do what I need to do to save her life". I was like waitttt waittt are you sure you have the right room, she's not dieing..... DUDE she has a stomach ache!!!!!!! I ran out of that place so fast I swear I left skid marks!!! I did not even look let alone stop at the front desk where the freakish people are to discuss payment of my visit because they definitely got me mixed up with some schmuck if they even THOUGHT they were going to charge me for what I thought was the equivalent to being mugged at the ATM ~~ I would have grew horns and spit fire until they disintegrated into dust!!!!! Now... Lady and I get in my car and I call my mom, cause that's what women do, (mommy always makes it better) and she calmly tells me to drive to Hilton Animal Hospital in Lynbrook - so I do and wow WOW WOW what a difference. This time before I take my lil girl inside to cause her any further trauma, I go in first to check it out. I walk in and the front end people are actually working are more then that they are HAPPY!! They are chatty and friendly and gave me a brief tour of the hospital (cause mind you I still have my sick lil girl waiting for me in the car) to calm my fears. Now I am feeling like I walked into heaven and I run out and go get my Lady. I bring her in they are all soooooooo loving and truely concerned with my lil girl. I wait no more then 5 minutes and Im in and the Dr was like "one of us" he was personable, and friendly and professional and he examined Lady with so much care so as not to cause her any more discomfort then she already had. Bottom line, all she needed was a couple of doses of pepto bismal (yea really who would have thunk) and she was all better. Total visit cost me about 60 bux!!!! Shocking I know! Listen to me... If you have a pet, and you live in Southern Nassau County - go there - do that - cause really they are great!! I can't say it any clearer. I've been going there ever since for shots and check ups and she loves it. O stars. Extremely dirty. Ask them to see where they keep the dogs downstairs. Filthy filthy. My friend worked there and had to leave because Dr. Strom threw things and yelled at staff. If you were not of his religious belief he belittled you and the clients heard it in the waiting room several times. They don't even have a sanitized surgery room! Sad really for the animals. The company was failing, so he sold out ($$) to VetCor ( an unethical corporation). Now, VetCor owns it but he stayed and his contract states he gets paid depending on how much he sells. Strom ( and all the vets there ) make(s) money off of 'raping' clients, the more they sell you, the more he pockets and laughs all the way to the bank. Clients and staff have complained to corporate and even quit because no action was taken. You see, because of his contract, instead of firing him, corporate pays the other vets more money (and a higher sales commission) just to stay there and deal with him. Which means YOU pay MORE. WTF? Meanwhile, the medicine is horrendous. Please do your research and support practices (not corporate) that care about your animals. It was 1:o'clock on a Saturday and our vet is located in Howard Beach. Too far. We needed to find someone close by. I called a few vets in the area, but they wouldn't see us. It was late in the day and we were not past clients. When I called Hilton Hospital, I asked if they we would please see my 13 year old Basenji, Kira, who was having difficulty breathing. They did. Unfortunately Kira's prognosis turn out to be terminal. At Hilton, they were empathetic, compassionate and hung in their while we said our good-byes. We have been going to this animal hospital since 2015 and never had a problem until today. Took our rottweiler to get his annual shots. The vet christina nutini had a horrible attitude. She was annoyed that our dog sprayed and lightly growled at her as she was going to give him his shots meanwhile he had a muzzle on. She kept insisting that he gets neutered we said no she kept on bringing it up. Obviously we pay for all services this isn't charity work so treat your clients and their pets with some respect, instead of huffing and puffing and making rude comments. Dr. Strom is awesome. Like any vet office though (but one) they annoy you to get shots and tests that have already been done. I have two indoor only cats and they don't need shots all the time for certain things that they are never exposed to and they don't need to be tested for fiv all the time when they were tested twice as kittens and are negative. The staff here however, is awful. They don't know what is included in a checkup when you ask. I called to set the appointment and the woman didn't know. They charged us for someone's bill=not ours and had to redo it messing up our credit card for a day or two. The women working at the front have no personality but I guess that comes with the territory of LI and they don't seem knowledgeable. They are always flustered and they are never that busy. Other than the awful staff Strom is pretty good. No one can touch Luger in Middle Village but Strom will do since I'm stuck out here on LI for a few years. Strom is very caring, nice and compassionate. He is professional and remembers to call back. He has good communication skills and a good memory. He is worth a try. I will be going back to him for my kitties from now on and I hope he will always be on point. read more

On Thurday, Aug 23, 2018, I had to euthanize my kitty, Leo who I'd reacued from a shelter in Texas in 2007. Hilton was recommended by my regular vet because they had no appointment soon enough. Leo was suffering and had now gone blind. Doctor Crisp was a God send. Her compassion and that of her assistant was comforting and much appreciated as I was a crying mess. I offer four stars because of the curt receptionist who didn't bother to write down my original appt time and the dog walkers who with two opporunities never bothered to tell me there was parking behind the facility. read more

He is able to transmit his calm caring nature to your animal and remove any fear they may have. How many dogs do you know that pull to get inside a Vet's office? I have always brought my pets to Hilton Animal Hospital and have never thought about switching. My two cats have been seen by most of the vets there and they all know them by name and are very gentle and accommodating to the older, significantly more anxiety-prone cat. Around a month ago, one of my cats needed emergency vet care. I called the office and they said to bring him in right away. He was examined immediately (just serious stomach upset--go figure). It was very helpful that Dr. Strom wasn't acting frantic which would have upset my cat even more. The prices seem fair. All the staff are kind and knowledgable. They also tend to have some great pamphlets about anything pet related. My only complaint (which is very trivial) would be that parking can be a pain in the butt. DO NOT BOARD YOUR PETS HERE! This vet charged me almost $1000 for shots, and boarding for 4 nights. One of my 2 dogs came home very sick, and both have been panting for 2 hours. I also noticed that I had more than half my dog food was left over that was pre-measured, and measuring cups provided. They assured me that they used my food, and that I must be mistaken. The sick dog was defecating loose and green. Even though I just arrived home, they said the dog must have eaten something at my home?. Another thing I found out. After they close, no one is there with your pets. Additionally they close very early on Sunday, so my dogs were not fed! So instead of defusing the situation and telling me to bring the dog in to be checked, they made excuses, and blamed things on us. Do yourself a favor... If love your pets, and you want to board, research it, and go somewhere else reputable instead of by recommendation from friends. read more

I totally disagree with the 2 reviews below. At one time this was a phenominal facility but things have drastically changed over the years. There's something wrong with a business who, after dealing with them for 10 yrs, sends you a letter telling you they will no longer treat your pet because of an incident where one of their employees sends you rude, nasty, & vulgar emails & then calls your house to curse you out. I would think that as a business owner, the person would be fired as opposed to them throwing their clients out the door. To top that off, Dr Strom doesn't have the courage to confront me himself, so he had to have his office manager (whom I've never met, never seen, & knows me not at all) to send me a letter telling me they will no longer treat my pet. I think it's extremely poor practice to not speak directly to a client, especially when I was told he would call me to discuss this situation. In addition, they have an employee who is far from trustworthy. When I make arrangements to have someone stay at my house to take care of my pet when I go away, I don't appreciate finding out once we returned that the only time this person was there was to feed & walk our dog. Otherwise, our dog was left alone 24/7 for a week. If a business can't hire trustworthy people who actually know how to speak to & deal with people, then it's time for them to close their doors. As much as I've always liked Hilton, their service has gone from 10 to 2 on the scale & their staff should be anything but rude & nasty. I would suggest that anyone who is currently associated with this vet find a new doctor for the beloved animals as soon as possible. Oh & btw, the comment below from Jeffrey S. is from the director of the practice, Jeffrey Strom, so I wouldn't take as the truth whatever he says. Also as stated below, one of the only doctors there that is worth anything would be Dr Reda. If he's smart, he'll find employment elsewhere. I intend to tell those that I have referred there to run for their lives & find another vet. One much better suited to caring for animals then those associated with this practice. I have been taken my Husky mix to Hilton Animal Hospital since he was a puppy. In November of 2016 he developed a lump above his right front leg, was shaken and weak in his hind legs. Yes, they performed x-rays and blood work, but the lump increased in size and the dog's general health deteriorated. They originally said that surgery may be required to determine what the lump may be. My dog went from 96 lbs. down to 80 lbs. in less that two months. He was also obviously in pain. It was the Vets at Hilton who advised against surgery saying giving the location they believed little could be done. They advised keeping him comfortable and prescribed medication to help. First I was very pleased that the Vets did not perform extraordinary or costly procedures on the dog when the outcome was inevitable. Second they made the decision to put my dog to sleep far easier. Third, when we finally brought Keelin to the Vet for the final time they were set up to receive him, very professional and extremely compassionate. When we get another Dog I will only take them to Hilton Animal Hospital. read more

I came in with my old 9 1/2 yr old Bernese Mountain dog with a fatal case of bloat . Large breeds get this the stomach twists and the abdomen fills with air and the dog dies Dr Strom gave me 60/40 chance the dog will survive. My decision was decide on paying for this 4100.00 operation and take a chance on a possible fatal outcome. i decided to go through with the operation The dog is doing great walking normally happy and acting as if nothing happened (5 days after operation)The dog after a foot long incision ,is doing amazingly well (unbelievably ) I cannot describe how thankful for a wonderful staff and Drs Strom ,Czarnowski and Heusi for saving my dogs life . read more
