Been going to them for several years - had a 6 month cleaning scheduled. Starting 2 weeks before the appt they repeatedly called and texted to confirm and have me fill out the insurance paperwork. I was dealing with handling everything for a sick family member in NYC and put it off. I had no change to my Information from the prior appointment. 1 week before the appt they called & texted multiple times in the same day saying they would cancel my appt if I didn't fill the paperwork out that day by 4pm. and told them I would fill it out once I had some time and it would be done prior to my appt. but they gave me a really hard time so I told them to cancel it. Second attempt to give me a correct denture failed. Before I was given second wrong denture they demanded another $750. They treated me as if I made the two mistakes. The owner dentist did not apologize and his office manager verbally abused me. They both acted narcissistic! They refunded me but their incompetence and abusive treatment to me is why no one should go there. If you go there pray they don't make a mistake because the you will be their next victim. Angela is a very sweet hygenist! she does very good work and very thorough with communication and cleaning! Dr. Markowitz he is very personable and asks how you are every time i'm there. If I could I would give no stars for Dr. Markowitz and his practice called A & B Dental on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley. This is not the first time I've been disappointed with them. I am angry and shocked with their lack of morals and unprofessionalism as it relates their Dental Diagnosis and billing practices. I came to Dr. Markowitz for a basic examination and cleaning. Although I am covered by my insurance for scaling I was not eligibilile at that time. As for the exam Dr. Markowitz hardly looked at my teeth and never discussed my teeth He quickly sent me over to his hygienist, who proceeded to do what I thought was a cleaning. No one told me that this was going to be submitted to my insurance company as a scaling and as per my insurance I had no eligibility for this procedure at that time . And I must say I had-have scaling before and this did not feel like more than just a cleaning. So too my surprise I received a bill for $190 in the mail, for what should have been a covered visit. I called to inquire about the bill and spoke to a young lady who was very rude raising her voice and yelling at me telling And told me that I Markowitz discussed this with me because it's in his notes. That's an outright lie. In any event I received a bill for $190 from them for something that I should've had for free as part of my benefits. A while back I was required to go there with the Army Reserves. Coming back from active orders, I wanted to go to the VA. I was told that wasn't an option. When I arrived, I was aghast at what I saw. The place was filthy. The staff was rude. I was going to let some clown stick his filthy hand in my mouth? I think not. Adult visit: First time patient seen by dentist who says all is ok. I've never had any problems just went for a regular check up and cleaning. They transfer me to the hygienist. She does her job and then states that I have a problem in my gums and it's not covered by insurance and I need to pay $1,000 to have the laser procedure done ($500 upper $500 lower. I got scared didn't have it a thought and said ok. She took out a sheet of paper and wrote I agreed to pay $2,000 and when questioned she said don't worry just in case we need another session. Stupidly I signed. When she finished she called the other hygienist and as I'm just walking out says " Hey do you always do both sides and charges them? He replied: Yes. At that moment I realized they sold me a service I probably did not needed just like an extended warranty to a brand new leased car. Child experience: My son had an appointment as a first time patient. We waited 3 months for it. Called to confirm same day and now they said it was 15 minutes earlier than what I schedule it for. They offered to see him 2 hours sooner. I explained I had already taken the time off work to be there by 4:30 and they said just complete and email the paperwork. We get there 4:30 exact, they said your appointment was at 4:15, the doctor already left. CALL us to reschedule (while I'm there outside the door!) Me: ‍. My bf is absolutely livid and we do not recommend this dentist to anyone looking to preserve their teeth for the long run. If anyone is attempting a malpractice lawsuit, or misdiagnosis, or any other attempts to get compensation for poor dental work, feel free to read my situation and contact me. Please respond also if you also experienced something similar. This place needs to reevaluate their morals. He is a 21 year old male, senior at Stevenson University, who has been going to this building for dental work since a little child when the previous dentist was there (she ended up moving out west and somehow we are stuck with Foyer, Markowitz, and Singh). When these 3 dentists arrived here, they brought a ton of new technology to better analyze your teeth and provide better insight as to what they are dealing with. Unfortunately, the dentists manning the technology can't seem to properly identify and remedy cavities adequately. In fact, am almost certain that they dictate the kind of care they give you by first observing your insurance to see how much money they can get out of you. While He was younger, He changed plans due to family reasons of which resulted i being on a discount plan to lower the cost of treatment. When this switch happened, He just so happened to have 8 cavities sitting in my mouth, of which he initially thought was his fault and had to step up his oral hygiene. He has those 8 cavities at 19-20 years old, of when he finished. Though cavities aren't meant to be comfortable when getting them treated, Dr. Foyer's touch was very unpleasant and painful throughout the entire experience, however He was able to power through and get the fillings filled. On that day, He fully threw himself into their dental recommendations by getting a new electric BURST brush, sensodyne toothpaste (for an increase in fluoride), and Listerine Total Care (once again, for additional fluoride). COVID has influenced a lot, however He called back in November complaining of pain in cheek and gums and that He would like to see Foyer, or anyone else, to see what's going on and give me the treatment necessary. The front desk notified told him he was unable to get an appointment anytime until January 18th, a whole 2 1/2 months after I'd initially call regarding the emergency. He ended up going to another dentist just to get them to see what is going on, just to find that 4 of the fillings placed in before were broken, 1 in particular that has decayed into a deep gaping hole in the molar, AND the remaining existing fillings remaining have decay on top and under the fillings. Because this was Dr. Foyer's work, He gave a to call A&B and attempt ANOTHER emergency appointment, of which they reluctantly brought him in for later that week. When he finally arrived, Dr. Foyer looked at me square in the eyes, and told me everything I knew already, and told him that he cannot do any procedures that day DUE TO THE SCHEDULE. Keep in mind, he scheduled an EMERGENCY APPOINTMENT. He is AM A 21 YEAR OLD WITH DENTAL WORK FALLING APART AND NOT ADEQUATELY DONE! He CANT BE BLAMED FOR THIS WHEN FILLINGS SHOULD BE GOOD FOR 10 YEARS. In addition, if this establishment truly gave the attention to detail that they'd give when finding new and exciting ways to charge you, this dentist would be the best office ever. Unfortunately, he is left with a mouth that resembles many recovering addicts and terrible dental hygiene when In reality, He was never getting his needs met, AND no one seems to care about it. From him: As an educator, especially looking to teach in the South as a person of color, maintaining a professional look is essential for me to maintain the respect of my colleagues, yet in a few years of being in their establishment, I am potentially looking at getting teeth pulled. I went to this dentist. They seemed nice enough but every appointment they call the day before to confirm. This last appointment they didn't call and didn't leave a message. The secretary lied and hung up on me. Then I called back and she said she was dismissing me from their office. I saw her being so nasty with some other patients, that didn't speak English very well. Obviously, I would never recommend going to this horrible office. Nasty nasty whore. Also the girl is an absolute liar and this dentist lives in East Setauket. Our children went to school together. Nightmare. Went in there with a broken tooth . Dr seemed cool , quirky but cool . They also got me in promptly. They do the X-rays , dr tells me I need a root canal . I say ok let's do it , he says we will call when insurance approves, they call me back quick and say I was approved. When I get there they tell me they are going to do 4 ROOT CANALS . I said I think there's a miscommunication. They explain to me that I needed the 4 done & I wasn't approved for the broken tooth I came in for . I said that may be , but I need the broken tooth fixed . They send some random woman in to tell me I need to pay 900 + 1350 for the root canal . Frustrated, I ask how much for an implant . Which she replies 3600. I say let's do that . She said we need to do a CT scan . After they do it they explain that I need a bone graft while an extraction is done which will cost me 250 out of pocket . I agree . While waiting I'm contacted 3 different times from the office reminding me I need to pay 250 , which I agree to . Finally the day before my appt a woman named carol reminds me of my appt and to pay 750 for the bone graft . Which I immediately dismiss . She than backpedals and says oh , il waive some fee and it will be 500 . I begrudgingly agree . She calls me 45 seconds after we hang up and rudely reestablishes the 750 fee . I told her , let's just do the extraction and il fine someone else for the implant . She told me they wouldn't waste their time on me and to go somewhere else & hung up . Complete trash . I cannot stress this enough. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! Originally when I went, I met a very kind dentist. We discussed options for my teeth and what we could do. We decided to go with dentures. In January my teeth were extracted and that's when it all went bad. I met a "dentist" named Edward Feuer. This guy is a complete hack. He uses old practices and doesn't quite seem to know what he's doing, but they have your entire face in their hands so you try and hope for the best. The first set he made would have been comical if they weren't mine. I couldn't even close my mouth, nor did the impressions fit properly. The second and third attempts as well. Side note- he will tell you 2 weeks and the broads up front push you out a month. I use that term because they never acted like ladies. They were rude, combative, nasty, and seemed to enjoy giving patients a hard time. Disgusting. So once a month appointments to leave with ever growing anxiety. It is now June and the dentist decided, WITHOUT CONSULTING ME, that he was going to start from scratch. When I asked him, tears in my eyes. How long this would take now since we are starting over, he says "I really couldn't tell you but you're welcome to go somewhere else"... well howdy do and F*ck you too. He then went on to talk shit about being a "Medicaid" dentist... and yes I went through my healthfirst insurance but I would have been glad to pay if it meant I was getting great teeth. I now am with an amazing dentist (Dr Wozny in Wading River) who will have my teeth ready mid July. Do yourself a favor... I wish I had read the reviews before wasting my morning here. My old dentist told me at my last visit they were no longer accepting my insurance. They did a regular cleaning and x rays and found a fracture through one of my teeth. They said I would need a crown. I called A and B dental after finding their information through my insurance website. I called and asked if I could make an apt to see the dentist about getting a crown and meet with them since I would be a new customer. Upon arrival, there were so many people in the waiting area there weren't enough seats available. They had me go to the back for x rays and I explained I just had x rays two weeks ago I just wanted them to look at my tooth and discuss a possible procedure. They said they do their own imaging and they would need it. I said I understand if I decide to move forward they would need it but I just had them and I'm not getting them again today. They told me to go to the front and see if they could send my x rays over from the previous dentist. When waiting at the front they asked for my last name and I gave it and said I'm Not done yet though I just needed to ask if there's a way to send over my x rays. Then, a woman (not sure dentist or hygienist) said "she's refusing x rays so she's leaving". I said I never said I was leaving. I was told to come up front and ask about me getting my old x rays sent over. At that point I was so annoyed they were basically refusing to let me see the dentist without them and were extremely rude so I said I would make another apt when it was time for me to have x rays again. He pulled her tooth out and never placed the bridge in her mouth. Now she has a hole in her mouth. These dentist need their license taken away. This place is horrible. Paid $800 (after insurance) for dentures. From the first, I couldn't wear them, because the tops were crooked, making the bottoms pop up on one side when I bit down. All the dentist ever said was "try them for a while and come back if you need to." Even suggested I use a Dremel if I needed to. I disliked him and the office staff so much (like 10 women and you still get an answering machine when you call) I didn't want to return. After cancer treatment, and only wearing the top dentures, I steeled myself to return. HUGE mistake. Whatever he did when he left the room made no difference, and I finally said, I'm really not happy about this. THAT brought the charming office manager into the picture, who wanted another $300 because I hadn't been there in over a year. Breast cancer didn't matter, I "could have called". If I wasn't happy, I could " return them", which I promptly did, demanding a receipt. She also told me I was "always rude when I called", because they closed early for the Jewish holidays, but only the " closed for lunch" and then the "leave a message" played. My messages grew more agitated, but not outright rude. Ms Office Manager should have known the difference, seeing how many reviews there are agreeing how rude she and her staff are. I should have read them first, but these losers were the only ones my insurance allowed. BOY, will I complain to THEM tomorrow! read more

I can only make a review on the staff here. I made an appointment. Just like mosts places the wait for an appointment is about a month out. When it came to the week of my appointment. That Monday the office reached out via phone call and text. They left a voicemail that afternoon. I received it on my lunch break and called back to confirm my appointment for that following Friday. I also filled out the paperwork they had sent to me in the text. Fast forward to my appointment day...I show up at 11:40 appt @11:45. I go to check in and the girl at the reception said she couldn't find me in the system. She kept on checking and then finally found my appointment. Then proceeded to tell me that I never confirmed my appointment so that they cancelled it and now I can't see the Dentist! Number one! I did confirm my appointment and 2 ...being that I was a new patient...she didn't even try to accommodate me for that day or at all?! She basically was like "OK Bye NOW" very unprofessional and I will not be going back here. It seems as though whatever system they have for appointments and just customer service is lacking in both! My family and I have been going here for dental work since September 2017. We have all had good experiences with the dentists. It's usually a very short wait in the waiting room. The Dr's are friendly and do a good job of explaining things. My daughter and I have both had root canals. My husband had a tooth extracted and my other daughter is having her orthodontic work done. I've been waiting 1 year for these people to do a dental extraction on me for a sleep apnea applicance and they want to send me to the bronx to get a sleep test done even though I already have a CPAP and my sleep records done. They also want me to go to isleep and send isleep $150 dollars for the machine to do the testing. Thats BS. Not only that the staff are unpleasant and I highly do not recommend. Absolutely avoid this place. Came in with 2 broken teeth and was sent out with NOTHING. No cleaning, no follow up appointment. My "referral" was to an oral surgeon that does not accept my insurance. I can't eat anything at all, and the oral hygienist lady was very condescending, nasty and rude, judged me and told me that having 2 broken teeth and not being able to eat food at all is "not an emergency". She made it seem as if needing emergency dental health care was a bit too much to ask. People should not be working in healthcare if they lack the basic ability to sympathize with their patients. I hope management can have a conversation with her to explain that you should never speak to patients in such a patronizing way. The older white male dentist didn't seem to care at all either, stopping to talk to me only for 1-2 mins total. Spent an hour and a half here waiting. I needed to find a dentist for my 15 yr old son. I located A&B Dental through his insurance. Fine. Then Covid-19 hit. His next 2 appointments had to be rescheduled. We finally got an appointment and the dentist started work. I told the front desk staff that my son was in pain and the girl said she would make a note of it. I guessed she would tell the dentist so he could take a look and address that first. Due to the Covid-19 protocol I had to to sit in my car while the dentist worked on my sons teeth. Well, approximately 15 minutes later my son comes out with two new fillings and instructions to put a cold compress on his face for any pain. The filling was for minor work that needed to be done and the tooth that was giving him pain neither was not inquired about nor addressed. The front desk girl never passed on the fact that my son was in pain and he didn't know to tell the dentist. I went into the office to find out why the dentist would send him home in pain and why he hadn't attended to the tooth that was causing my son's distress. Here is where the poor customer service began its downward spiral. The girl immediately became defensive. She told her co-worker that she said she had told me to tell my son to tell the dentist he was in pain. I reminded her that was NOT what she had said. Then the co-worker became rude and told me it was not their responsibility to tell the Dr. it was my sons' and questioned me about things that had nothing to do with the fact that my son was being sent home in pain. I became very agitated and began speaking loud because I felt she was not listening to me. The office manager then came out front and began blaming me and my son for not mentioning anything when that was the first thing I did when I arrived. Since I was not allowed into the room with my son and was told to go outside to wait there was no way of making sure the dentist knew about the pain my son was in. I would think the dentist would look at his x-rays / chart and see what the best course of action would be or at the very least, knowing the extent of the work needed ask my son if he was experiencing any pain. The office manager was very rude in suggesting I find another dentist. After all the unpleasant discourse I demanded some sort of pain medication for my son. It was not a solution offered to me; I had to demand it. I did finally receive a prescription for an antibiotic and pain medication and another appointment. All weekend my son was in pain, not only in the tooth but at the injection site. Before the next appointment I received a text with a Covid-19 exposure questionnaire which I filled out and submitted. When we arrived for the appointment I was handed a hard copy of the questionnaire so I told the girl (another girl) that I had filled one out via text. The other girl looked in the computer and saw that I had filled it out for me (I'm not a patient of this dentist so I filled it out as I had at our previous appt on the hard copy in the office and I told the girl that. She said "Well today is a new day" very rudely and closed the glass window. Ok, I sat to fill the paper out but I thought about it. I needed to find another dentist that treats its patients with respect and concern. We left. I'm not saying there was no other way I could have handled myself. I am saying as a patient my sons' best interest should have been their top priority! read more

I'd give them no stars if I could. Since February, they have rescheduled my appointment 4 times due to the hygienist or dentist or both not being available that day. It is now May, I walk in to my rescheduled appointment and they tell me that they attempted calling me a few days ago to let me know they cancelled my appointment. How come in the past they were able to contact me, and they didn't this time? How weird. Leave a voicemail if I don't pick up. I work as a receptionist elsewhere, and anytime we get the voicemail of the client, we make sure we dialed the number correctly and note their ledger. Unsure if their systems have the luxury to do that. Also, the reason why I try to get both the hygienist and the dentist the same day is because they will schedule two appointments and then run my insurance twice, having me pay 2 copay amounts which this time I refused doing. They can be very unprofessional at times, from dealing with the receptionist to when you're sitting in the chair. I got a root canal done here, and everytime I went there (3 times, instead of just once like normal, notice a pattern), the dentist would make sexual innuendos to the dental assistants. The girls look very young, they look like interns in training no older than 20 years of age. I didn't say anything considering it's their business whether or not they respect themselves, but let's just say if they really wanted to, they can sue the guy for sexual harassment. I would give this place no stars if allowed, this place has put unnecessary crowns on my husband , when I was pregnant they told me I had to have an x Ray in order for a cleaning because they didn't know what type of cleaning I needed, the straw that broke the camels back with these heads was they told me I had early warning signs of periodontal disease, referred me to the in house guy there he told me he needed to cut my gums open and do a deep cleaning. So I told them No and the lady in the office was fighting With me and said ur insurance approved it u need to get it done I told her absolutely Not! I got my records and went to another dentist. My new dentist said he doesn't see anything wrong with my teeth, never had a cavity my whole life! This a&b dental makes up stuff to generate more money! Beware! read more
