The owner stopped in to catch up on things, heard my message and returned my call. She offered to stay and wait for us to take the ride out if that would help us. We did take a 30 minute ride to Gowanda. We left with a pair of boots and a pair of sandles (for me) and we ordered a pair of Redwing boots which were to be delivered direct to our home address. The day after the boots arrived we received a phone call to see if everything was as expected with our order. I found the customer service to be exceptional and would highly recommend Soles Unlimited to all of my family and friends.

Handicapped people with service or therapy dogs not welcome…read more At approximately Noon on January 22, 2014 I entered The Shoe Dept. located at 1014 State Route 36 in the Wegmans/Walmart Plaza in Hornell NY with a handicapped client to work on training her dog to work in public. The dog is in training for service/therapy work. My client and I entered and I a took a minute to explain to her to move to an open area away from the door to give the dog a moment to acclimate to the environment. I told her that some adults and children are afraid of dogs and to make sure she goes to an area where there are no people. She told me she knew and mentioned a neighbor who is afraid of dogs. (We have had many training sessions up to this point. It is my policy to always remind clients about their part in their dogs' behavior & training) I then walked toward the checkout where an employee was standing and started to hand her my business card as I do each time I enter a business with a therapy or service dog that is in training or refreshing their training. I handed her my card and told her that we would be working on training the dog. She told me she had spoken to her manager about that and told me that her manager did not want me in the store with clients and their dogs. I told her it was the law that handicapped people and their dogs that are in training are allowed in any public place. She said "My boss doesn't want them in here". I said "But it's the law". The clerk said "She doesn't want them in here" I said ok tell your boss I will be posting this on my website." And we left.

I purchased some Keen closed toe sandals and a pair of Staheekum slippers. Both items were reasonably priced but not inexpensive. I had been looking for quality footwear in several of the larger department stores in larger cities without success. This is an old fashioned full service shoe store. After a couple of days, one of the pairs didn't feel quite right, especially on my right foot. Returning those and exchanging them for another pair was as easy as it could possibly be.
