Shoe Fly has very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff. I worked with Beth and bought two pairs of shoes. After a couple of days, one of the pairs didn't feel quite right, especially on my right foot. Returning those and exchanging them for another pair was as easy as it could possibly be. Usually, I would not even think about going into a store called Shoe Fly, BUT, when I'm given a $100 voucher to go get steel toed shoes for work, I do. I stopped by on Tuesday expecting this to take at least 15 minutes and come to find out I was in and out in less then 10 minutes. I was greeted as soon as I entered the work section and I was able to pick out a pair of steel toe new balances very quickly. The gentleman helping me out was super nice and super fast at getting me in and out as quickly as possible. De' Mere was our salesperson and he was so kind and attentive. The shoes are unlike any in this area with beautiful leather imports from Europe. As someone whose mom bought Stride-Rite shoes for me throughout my childhood at Meeker's Shoes in the 1960s, I can confirm that this is an Old School shoe store, in every possible good way. My husband and I wandered in recently, as he was looking for an athletic shoe in a hard-to-fit size. The store does not carry that item, but it happened to have the Allen-Edmonds dress shoes he has worn for years. Not only did they have an amazing selection, but we got a fabulous deal on them. It's not just about the shoes, though: It's the service. Foot measurements, counsel, and everything you just don't get at discount stores. I stopped in last week to pick up a replacement pair of sneakers. I had hoped to get a pair that would take my Morten's Neuroma into consideration and yet have a little bit more style than the plain orthopedic white models. On top of that I take a size 4E wide shoe. Art Oligieri was my salesman and made it a very pleasurable experience. He was able to find just the right New Balance shoe to fit my needs. I inquired about replacing the sandals that I was wearing that day, and he was able to help me there as well. He said the Birkenstock sandal was what I needed because it would force my toes to spread apart, which would help with the Neuroma condition. Unfortunately he did not have the one in stock that I needed. It is supposed to be in the store within the next week, and I look forward to picking it up. I have never worn Birkenstocks. They feel different then other sandals. I'm not sure that I will like them, but I'm told that once they break in, I will never go back to another type of sandal. read more

I went in to get new tennis shoes. I have recently started exercising (again) and got blisters from my very old shoes. Have worn size 6 1/2 for the last 35 years. I was born with pigeon-toes and needed special shoes as a child. I tried to explain to the salesman but I don't think he wanted to hear me. He grabs my current shoe (sketchers with gel cushion) and says these aren't doing you any favors. Then he grunts at me to stand up to have my feet measured and then says you need to wear size 7 1/2. Size 7 shoes are too big so I can't imagine 7 1/2. My impression was they would do actual measurements and suggest shoes for your issues. I'm guessing since I told him I got a huge blister when I went to the gym the easiest solution is to tell me to buy bigger shoes. I really was hoping they would be a bit more precise. I could have gone and bought bigger shoes to see if that worked. I had higher expectations as the description of their services seemed more extensive. I will look for someone who can help me. read more

I am from out of town and was recommended this store by a friend that lives in Erie. I went in looking for on cloud sneakers, and asked to try on some in a size 9. They fit, but I saw another pair in the same brand that I liked the look of better. The woman helping me said she thought they had them in a 9 and would be right back. When she came back, she wouldn't put the box down and only gave me one shoe. It seemed to fit so I said I would buy them. She carried the box to the check out and I paid. By the time I got home (past their closing time) I realized she had given me an 8.5. I actually tried on both shoes and realized they were small. The kicker is I had to leave early the next day before they opened to go back home. Was super excited for these shoes but not sure why the sketchy actions by the worker in the store? You would think she would notify me that they were a half size smaller than I asked for. Or if she let me see the box and both shoes maybe I would have figured it out before I left the store. read more

In almost 30 years, I've never been told I had to wear an orthotic. Sure, my feet and knees hurt, but I often attributed it to not finding the right pair of shoes. Little did I know that 15 years of figure skating and 22 of dance had really screwed up my feet. It's super difficult for me to find sneakers that don't hurt my feet especially since my arches fall in so easily. For all these years, I've worn a women's size 8 since that's what size I wear in every other pair of shoes I own. I was quite shocked when I brought my old pair of sneakers in (note: it's in your best interest to do so so that they could analyze how your foot fits in your shoes and relate it to your complaints) because I had apparently been wearing the wrong size. They were a half size too small! They have 4 pedorthists ("title of a professional who has specialized training to modify footwear and employ supportive devices to address conditions which affect the feet and lower limbs. They are trained in the assessment of lower limb anatomy and biomechanics, and the appropriate use of corrective footwear" - thank you, Wikipedia! I didn't even know these people existed!) on staff who really know what they're doing. I was shocked at how knowledgable they are! They educated me on the shape of my foot, where my foot wasn't being supported, and the various models of New Balance sneakers they carry in the store. Sneakers can be a bit pricey at approximately $120-150, but if they're not going to cause you pain and they're going to support you the way you need to be supported, then it's totally worth it. I actually needed an orthotic insert that cost me an additional $70, BUT I ran in my new sneakers as soon as I left the store and they're wonderful! I wish more of these places existed in the US. The staff is wonderfully helpful and provided assistance I have yet to receive elsewhere. read more

They're wonderful. I had to get some office shoes for work and had no idea what to get. I was greeted at the door, sat down and told the employees (I went 2 times and saw two different employees) what I was looking for, and they brought out all the shoes to me and helped me pick. They are more expensive than target, walmart, or payless but the quality is very high and the shoes have been extremely comfortable even after having them for 6+ months. read more
