After reading many reviews I went with A & C Garage Door Repair Services to look into the recently developed scraping sound coming from either our garage door's rollers or track area. Verl was easy to reach and his communication was prompt, so arranging the appointment was no trouble. He showed up on time, which was also a big plus. Prior to my appointment I had done a good amount of researching garage doors and the many potential quirks that can arise, so I had an idea where the noise was coming from and what it possibly could be. As it turned out my hunch was correct and the issue was nothing too serious. According to Verl's expertise, nothing that a little silicone spray onto the roller bearings couldn't tame down. Verl sprayed down all the roller bearings with silicone and then tested the door's operation, opening and closing it a few times to begin working the lubricant through. ...Since then, with the sprayed silicone now working its magic into all the roller bearings, the door's begun operating more quietly again, sounding closer to normal. Due to the fact that Verl honestly saw nothing seriously wrong beyond some much needed silicone he charged nothing; whereas many other companies might have saw an opportunity to charge both an initial service fee PLUS labor. Going with Verl from A & C was a great choice and if/when we need garage door service again his business card is at the top of my list. Thanks again Verl. I couldn't have asked for a better experience with A & C Garage Door Repair and Verl, the very pleasant and customer-oriented owner. After receiving a referral for A & C, I called him Monday morning around 9 a.m. and he was at my house by 10:30 a.m. that same day to do the repairs. He worked diligently for about an hour, explaining that the spring needed replacing, and to replace the cables as well since mine were worn out. Not once did I feel he was trying to "sell" me something, he was just genuine and wanted to give me the best service at the most affordable price. Altogether it was less than $275, which I happily paid to have my garage door in tip-top shape the same day I called for repairs! Not sure I selected the right company when he arrived (long hair, beard etc). Was I wrong. Verl is knowledgeable, honest, friendly and more than fair. Fifty years of experience and is able to answer any question and most likely able to fix any garage door problem. His customer service is off the charts. So what did he do for me. My garage door was not opening and closing, He asked me to uses the garage door opener twice and was able to diagnose the problem; a simple adjustment. I asked him what do I owe you, he said nothing. I said at least service both garage doors and he said they do not need servicing. I wanted to pay him something and he refused to accept any form of payment. It's rare for me to leave online reviews, but A & C is worth my time! This is a true small business that is built on quality, honesty and values. I called A & C after my garage door (original to the home) came off the tracks. I have had numerous issues with this garage door, including driving into a couple of times (SOBER!), and I assumed this time would require a purchase. Previously, a large company fixed the door but then proceeded to push me to buy a $5000+ door. I put off the purchase because - heck - that's a lot of money for something that wasn't broken! This time, I asked my neighbor for a referral, mainly because his home is meticulous and he is a real estate agent, thus I assumed he would have a few names. My neighbor provided A & C's number, I called them that day, and the next morning the owner, Verl, was at my home and fixed the garage door within 15 minutes. He said (and I believed him) that he didn't trust the door and he recommended a new one. He specifically said, "As you can tell, I'm not the salesman type, but this door is bad." Ha! SO TRUE.
