I needed a few special keys made that Lowe's could not duplicate because they did not have the proper blanks. I finally had some free time on a Friday and did a quick search on my phone to verify A&E's business hours. Both the online listing and the hours posted on the window showed they were open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. When I arrived a little after 10:00 a.m., I noticed an impressive wall full of key blanks and thought I had come to the right place. Unfortunately, when I tried the door, it was locked. After looking more closely, I found a note stating that appointments are required for assistance. I called the phone number on the door and entered the extension listed on the note. Instead of reaching someone, I got a recording saying that no one was available to take my call and asking me to leave a message. My question to A&E is this: How do you expect to stay in business if customers can't get assistance during your posted business hours and can't even reach anyone by phone? My second question is how can you be considered open when the doors are locked and no one is available to help customers? I would give zero stars if Yelp allowed it. A&E let me down, and after reading other reviews, it appears I am not the only customer who has had this experience. read more

You need to schedule an appointment to have keys made. Nothing on their website to say you have to schedule an appointment. Ridiculous to have to drive there to have keys made and find all this out. read more

Absolutely horrible service the scheduling person needs to find a different job! Also, The installation left a mess.

Be careful, their contract is for 12 months at a time. If you try to cancel they want payment to the end of the term. Requests for service go unanswered. This lack of response is what pushed us to find a new provider, who uses the same central station. We own our hardware, when changing providers, A&E refused to furnish access codes to the new provider to unlock and reprogram our own system! Storefront is locked and only open by appointment, once you are granted access to enter, it isn't a good vibe, warning signs abound. Outside all their service trucks were parked in the middle of the day, so doubtful they are doing much business. The first thing you see pulling into their parking lot is a service truck with four flat tires and it's windows broken out. This vehicle has been parked there for months, another indication of their concern about providing a good customer impression. Overall, as a long term customer, they have turned into just a sleazy place to do business. Move on, there are superior, and more honest providers in the area. read more

They did an upgrade on my system and got the programming wrong such that the locations were incorrect. Once I realized this and called they wanted to change to re-program the system. Fed up I wanted to cancel, but you can't until your yearly contract expires. You then have to give them a month noice by sending then a letter delivered by certified mail. read more

We used A & E for alarm monitoring in our home. During a remodel we had to disconnect the keypad. I tried to cancel the service last year and was told we had to wait until our annual renewal in March. When I called in March Irene said I missed the date but would cancel. I just received a threat that if I didn't pay another years fee they would send us for collection. I can tell by their rating that I am not the first unsatisfied customer. If you have any other options don't use A & E. They will rip you off for sure. read more

Total waste of $$$. When we purchased our home in 2005, the seller had a contract with A&E. They REFUSED to provide the master code so we could contract with our chosen alarm monitoring service. We finally decided it was easier to continue the sellers contract with A&E. Fast forward almost 16 years later....I call to cancel the service because we sold the house. No mention that I need to cancel in writing. FOUR MONTHS LATER, these scam artists demand payment for services I never authorized on a house I no longer own My brother owned an alarm company for years and said there are LOTS of shady folks in the business. Beware! They will give you "estimates" off of Messenger from their FB page, supposedly the owner according to staff, not relay those estimates to the technicians/staff, then show up and tell you other prices and not even be qualified to do the work! They then contracted the work out and decided to charge me the highest amount from the "estimate" instead of the quoted service rate. On top of that,the Supervisor, "Doug", was one of the rudest business people I've ever come across. This place is crooked and has no business integrity whatsoever. read more

On August 10th, 2022 we had an employee from A&E security named Eric come to our house with an estimate/proposal for an alarm system. Eric went of the pricing with us and after he was done, told us he needed some sort of a deposit. No where on the estimate or proposal did it ask for a deposit. My wife signed the proposal and we gave Eric a $500 deposit. On August 17th, 2022 at about 10:45am I reached out to Eric and asked what the next step for the alarm was. I did not get a response from Eric until 8/18/22 at about 4:30pm. Eric told me he needed to finsh some things up with my wife. I replied to Eric 2 hours later telling him my wife and I changed our minds and did not want to proceed with this alarm. My wife and I had other financial obligations we wanted to take care of. I told Eric I would like my $500 deposit back. I explained this to Eric multiple times and did not get a response until I threatened legal action. Eric told me I needed to talk to Doug Elsberry. I went into A&E Security and met with Doug Elsberry. Doug told me that signing the proposal/estimate gives them authorization to pull parts needed for the job. Doug also told me he is in the business to make money and he does not like to do refunds. I told Doug after looking through the proposal/estimate multiple times, no where in it does it say there is a non refundable deposit required. Doug agreed and said this should have been explained. I told Doug this was never explained to us. The proposal/estimate is the only document my wife signed for this job. Doug told me they charge a 25% restocking fee. Again none of this is listed on the proposal document that my wife signed. This place is an absolute scam. My wife and I are still trying to get our money back. Avoid this place and avoid Eric Wright. read more

I could completely copy any of the reviews here. Same story. Sold the house, they have an auto-renewing annual contract. Won't return my phone calls or emails, won't send me the documentation they claim I need to sign, won't send me a final bill. Each time I call they say "we'll look into it", and then I don't get anything. At least I have it in email that I notified them. We'll see how this turns out but I'm not optimistic. Charged me $240 to unlock my car. It took less than one minute! I called 20 minutes before they closed. He got here 15 minutes AFTER they closed ( I was less than three miles away from their shop) so I got billed for an emergency call. Needless to say, I view this excessive amount as HIGHWAY ROBBERY! They are very bad a customer service and the install of the equipment wasn't done properly, I was then told this was my fault after I raised my complaints. The CEO is unprofessional and acted like it was a problem for them to come out and fix my system how it was supposed to be installed. It feels like they sell you on the product and then dump you after they have you in a contract. I am all of a sudden the problem for asking for my system to be fixed, and I don't appreciate it. I guess I learned my lesson for trying to help out a local community during the COVID-19 pandemic. You are better off going with one of the big names or another local security business. Sadly, I like some of the people who work there and I am sorry that they have to deal with an organization who could care less about the people they serve. I just wonder how it is to work in such a dysfunctional organization. read more

We had a bunch of door locks in our home swapped out for something newer and better. Chad did a terrific job -- our 1906 house with its old doors was no match for his problem-solving skills -- and he explained everything and presented options very clearly and thoroughly, no pressure, no selling, just the facts. Everyone at the shop was equally helpful and knowledgeable, and you get a followup email that details everything that was done and discussed. Great company. read more

Please read the full review. Truly terrible product, follow through and customer service. We paid thousands of dollars to take over an existing system in the home we purchased, just to find out that it was not compatible with having a pet who could set off the alarm, although the technician was fully aware of our pet concerns during the install. After being told by this company that there was nothing that could be done to remedy this, we ended up paying thousands of dollars more to install a new system with a different company. The real issue, however, is that we are still being billed three years later by A & E, despite phone calls, documented emails, and in-person visits (where we were apologized to and promised it would be fixed)! Since our latest"bill" for this monitoring that is not taking place, I had called and left a message for the accountant to call me. Which she never did. Two weeks later, I called again and spoke with the woman, Irene, in accounting. I try to assume positive intent about people, but truly she was incredibly rude and unapologetic. My spouse encouraged me to write this review because his concern was that if they are doing this illegal billing practice with us, who else, including senior citizens, could they be taking advantage of? I would highly recommend that if you are looking into home security in the area, you do not use this company. We went to DND, who installed glass break alarms for us, and we've been very satisfied with our security system and their follow through thus far. read more

My husband needed some keys cut and he waited for 20 minutes with no acknowledgement, no one asking if he needed help or had been helped. There was a man who appeared to be an employee who was on the floor having a conversation with another person the entire time. After waiting for 20 minutes or so with absolutely no contact of any sort from an employee, he left and went directly to Trask Mountain Lock & Key and had great customer service. read more

Company practices predatory billing practices (my opinion). They auto renew contracts for an entire year. Also, in my experience, when I disputed their auto renew billing they threatened to bill me for an additional year. NOT what I would expect from a security company who is in business to protect.
