Two years on and it's time to update this. They have done some other work for us over the past two years, replaced the radiator in the now-dead Santa Fe and did the front brakes on the Dodge Intrepid various oil changes, etc. Most recently the guys at A&J replaced the thermostat on the '96 Dodge Intrepid. The thermostat on that car is down near the bottom of the engine, so I simply didn't want to do it. They charged me $150.00 for that job and it was done before the day was out. I was expecting double that considering the complexity of the job. I have NEVER been happier with a mechanic in my life than I have been with A&J Automotive! read more

Rick from A&J Auto was amazing! Being from Austin and sitting in hot parking lot at HEB, he came out to see what the issue was with my car. He diagnosed it and realized it was the shifter cable bushing that broke. He was able to get it in drive and we made it to his shop. Glad I decided to try this place. You can't make appts on Saturdays but they let me know to come in early to ensure my car would be seen. I needed my brakes replaced. I dropped my car off around 9:00 they called and had the results about 11. My car was ready for pickup at 2. Employees are very nice and respectful. I highly recommended this place. read more

In my opinion five stars are deserved here. I took my old '04 Mercedes wagon here Oct 2017. On FM 1960 Louetta had let me down as did Cliffords. I Yelped for a better place and found A & J so I gave 'em a shot. Here's what happened: I brought them MY OWN PARTS I had already purchased which they were fine with using. They quoted me Labor hours that totally agreed with the Mercedes shop manual estimates. They had it ready when they said they would for the price we agreed on. The 8 hrs of work performed (replace alternator, replace CV axles, front end align done at no cost) was totally competent and done as well as the stealership or any high $$$ Mercedes specialist on the other side of town. Friendly, nice shop in the strip over behind Italiano's. I will gladly take any of my vehicles here for work and am stoked to have found a good honest shop nearby. read more

This place literally made my week! I needed a replacement of my U-joints and needed it done that day because I only had one day off from work. I had taken it to christian brothers in the morning (having an appointment) who said they would get it done that day, waited 5 hours and they hadn't even looked at it.. I took my car into A& J for service and asked them to check the brakes. They finished the repair and the tire that was in the back of the car was not sitting up against the front seats. It slid on carpet 3 feet so I know they hit the brakes pretty hard. They told me the brakes were fine. The next time I went in for service I explained the brakes feel soft and not right, please check them. They said the brakes are good. Then the car did not stop when I pressed the brakes and I ended up hitting someone in front of me. I went back and told them what happened. They inspected the brakes and said the master cylinder was leaking. I told them to fix it. They also put new brake pads and rotors on the car and mentioned that they didn't charge me for them. I beleive they were covering their butts because they didn't really check the brakes the first two times with a caliper to see how worn they were. Then when I got the car back, there was a big dent right in the middle of the drivers door. When I pointed it out they said we "We are not responsible for damage to the inside or outside of your car. That is our policy!" Probably caused by a mad mechanic temper tantrum because he put the company at risk by not doing his job correctly the first two times and was made to do the work for no charge. I have never been treated so unprofessionally in all my life. Watch out for these clowns. read more

This was the first time I've had my oil changed by anyone other than the Subaru dealership where I bought my (brand new) car, so I was a little nervous going in. I thought I needed a new air filter but instead of charging me for something unnecessary, they were honest and told me I didn't need to replace it just yet. They are very helpful and Rick always helps me find the cheapest way to fix my car problems. One time I was stranded at work because my car wouldn't start and they sent somebody out with a brand new battery and installed it right there in the lot at my job!
