This burger place has been a true blessing in my life for almost TWENTY YEARS! Located right by my church, it has become more than just a spot to grab a meal... it's a place filled with comfort, familiarity, and nostalgia. From childhood to adulthood, it's been there after services, celebrations, and ordinary days when a good burger was exactly what I needed. Their Chili Cheese Fries are just chef's kiss. Nobody does it better! The food has always been consistently delicious. The burgers are made with care, full of flavor, and cooked just right every time. And I am picky!!! You can truly taste the quality and pride they put into their food. No matter how many new places open up, this spot will always be my go-to. What makes this place extra special is the people. Mom & Pop treat you like family, always welcoming and kind, and you can feel the heart behind everything they do. My heart aches as I watch them grow older as I grow older. It's rare to find a place that stays true to its roots for so long, and they've done it beautifully!!! read more

Normally I would give a&j's a five star I've been coming here with my family for well over 25 years if you're looking for a classic burger and fries this is the place but for me today was a little different I got what I normally get a double Texas cheeseburger with no pickles regular fries and a medium Cherry Coke and when she told me how much I was a little on the shock side for that combo it was just over $18 which is a b price increase from what it used to be but that's fine I paid it and then two mistakes that they never made and I don't know why they made it this time I hate pickles with a passion that's why I always tell anybody I'm ordering a burger from more than once about the no pickle thing and this lady knows I don't like pickles she's known for as long as I've been there but for whatever reason the damn Burger was full of pickles this time and it almost made it unedible for me so I had to pull all the damn pickles out even I can still smell them anyways and mistake number two was I didn't get to enjoy the Cherry Coke that I always do because when I took a first drink of it it was it was flat as a glass of water and I don't even think it was Cherry Coke flat it had no hand of Cherry Coke taste whatsoever so I don't know what she gave me so I had to tell her to give it to me something else and then I had to listen to her in the cook are you about it which I don't know what's there to argue about just give me another one from a different flavor so she gives it back to me as diet Coke and that one taste it okay but I don't know I hope this isn't a sign of things to come read more

Used to come here as a kid when my grandparents lived around the corner. Decided to try it one more time for the sake of nostalgia but it was a mistake. The original owner passed away years ago and it's never been the same. The burgers are bland with no flavor and they take forever to make your order. Save yourself the trouble and just go to George's instead. read more

I wanted a cheeseburger with extra sauce only. It was the best cheeseburger I have had in years. The bun was soft, but crispy on the corners. Cheese melted just enough and the extra sauce was indeed extra and so delicious. I plan to go back again before my trip home. read more

Nostalgic. Great zucchini fries and a good hole in the wall burger. This place has been around forever and is ran by an older couple that is friendly. Not many seats for dinning in an older establishment but the burger is tasty. read more

Great little place that makes an amazing burger (and pastrami). Fries are freshly made as well as the fried zucchini (to make you think your eating healthy). If you have live in the area, you know what an icon this place is. Anytime I'm in the area, I try to go by A&J's. read more

A&J Burger Drive In has that warm, family-run charm that makes you want to root for them. I stopped by during a packed car show weekend, and despite the chaos, the staff was friendly and working non-stop. It was great to see them so busy. This plaza has a couple of businesses close, so I really hope more people support this spot. I had the chicken nuggets (solid!), my husband loved his burger, and they gave us a generous amount of fries. There are a few outdoor benches, which is a nice touch. I wasn't sure how the drive-in part worked with all the car show traffic, but we'll definitely be back! read more

Great family owned restaurants. Been around for years here in Fullerton. All the food is so Good. Chili Verde fries are Fire!!!! Must try but spicy heat. I've had a lot to try over the years but Bacon cheeseburger takes the win. The combos are good. The ice in the drinks are crushed cubes. They even have cherry coke. Burgers are big. The Chile verde fries are delicious!!! I crave them alot. I just wish they wouldn't use the pork fat in it. But damn it's so good I love it when it's spicy. Chile verde burritos are good too. They need to fry their own hard shell for the tacos. Taco Bell shells no bueno. read more

I haven't tried anything else in the menu besides the breakfast burritos but that alone deserves 4 stars. Really solid burrito with great flavor I especially like the fact that the burrito is not drenched in grease a huge plus for me. The service is great too really nice customer service. You can tell there's still a lot of passion that goes into this place. read more

I have brought my family here several times and they never disappoint! Haven't had the chance to leave a review until now. We have tried so many things anywhere from their cheeseburgers, pastrami burgers, fried zucchini, several different hot ham & cheese sandwiches for the kids. They have what you would consider an authentic diner food flavor experience. My little ones always order chicken nuggets with fries. They have a fairly small dine-in area but it's very family friendly and accommodating clean environment. We always leave satisfied after eating here! read more

I live down the street where this is a very convenient old fashioned style burger stand. I've never tried the mexican food, but patty melts and cheeseburgers are great in satisfying that good 'ole burger crave. What really gets them the 4th star are the sides, fries and fried zucchini. I've always been a fan of fried zucchini where theirs are cut thick which give it a county fair type of nostalgia. My only gripe is that on occasion I can taste some bitterness in that the zucchini which means it was old. Fries are standard thick cut about the size of a pinky finger, which is what I prefer and the volume is generous which is helps the value proposition. If I get a Large Fry, it'll be enough to share for 2 adult males. I can share a regular fry order with my toddler son...for now! My typical order is either Cheeseburger or Patty Melt with Fried Zucchini or Fries (depending on the mood). They also have a child's meal that includes 4 chicken nuggets, fries, and a drink, which is for sure tastier than a happy meal (minus apple slices, milk option, and toy). All-in-all, I consider myself a regular. If I want a burger I go here because it's generally solid, old fashioned taste, and convenience in being walkable/on the way home. I gave Golden Ox a try a couple times, but they're more expensive and taste mediocre. George's is solid as well, but just more of a pain to get in and out of due to their location and small parking lot. read more

Very upsetting making this review, but highly disappointed that we are in year 2021 & you guys still don't accept card payments. Not everyone carries cash on them!! & shouldn't have to go to an ATM to pay a 2-3$ fee to pull out 20$ for a burger. Please do something, and start accepting card as payment. Unbelievable read more

Seems like a mom and pop shop which is great if the service was good. Lady in the register is a lil rude and the cook pretty much cooks without a mask on which is pretty scary especially at these times. I got the double cheese and bacon combo which was a lil pricey almost $12 and it hardly had any bacon... Burger and fries were really good tho. They charge for ranch $1 and they only give you like 2 napkins lol.. outside area is very outdated but it gives it that old-school vibe which is cool in a way.. might came back again to check it out but I'd have to really think about it. read more

Used to love this place. Not anymore though. 1. Order was not ready and they completely forgot it. No apology either. 2. Does not accept card so I had to spend extra 3.50 to pull out cash but that's fine. 3. Asked for ranch, she says it's extra 1.50. 4. Asked for a lot of chili, gives me 2 pieces. First time coming here and pleasantly surprised with how DELICIOUS everything was. The food was made wonderfully and quickly. We didn't wait long. We decided to eat in the car (as it was a bit too chilly to sit outside) so the whole vibe felt like an old school drive-in spot. They do have tables and chairs inside as well if you want to sit there. read more

Went here to grab a breakfast sandwich after having so many other places fail for me lately at breakfast, this place came through. It was the perfect sandwich. The bacon was crispy, the bread toasted perfectly, the eggs and cheese melting together just right so whenever you bite into it you get that long drip of cheese coming out of it. Now I'm drooling. The only thing is that they only take cash, so you gotta remember that. read more

Not sure if they only have the tamales around Xmas but they have one of the best tamales I've ever tried. I've came here previously and the cash register person was always really rude. However, the night I came by they were super nice. This was in December. I hope they let the rude person go. Great place to have a burger in Fullerton. read more

For the most part, this place is good. This visit was a miss. The usual place we go to was closed. This was the f first and last time we ever order anything with pastrami. The sandwich was super salty. I can feel my feet swelling as I write this post. Aside from being salty, there were a lot of charred pieces in the sandwich...it was just gross. The zucchini was perfect. It'll be a long while before we go back. read more

The only reason I'm giving them a 1 star is because they have very bad customer service. I ordered a hamburger and a club sandwich. I asked for red hot sauce and she told me they didn't have any. Another customer ordered a burrito and he asked for red sauce and she gave him the red sauce. So I went and asked her why she lied about the sauce and she said because I hadn't ordered tacos that's why she didn't give me red hot sauce. I think that was really greedy of them not to provide a condiment when asked for it. I would of paid extra for it but don't lie to your customers. She's also wearing gloves and taking the cash from customers and with the same gloves on she's getting the fries and putting the lids on the soda cups. That's very dirty and unsanitary. First and last time I come here. read more

Went twice for Fried Zucchini. The first was cooked till Zucchini was soggy and inedible it was so hot for like 20-30 minutes later, seriously, not joking around! Went back today and asked if he could reduce the cooking time so that they are crunchier Zucchini wise and were still a bit overdone. This time I could eat after a ten minute drive home. Upon eating them, some were still soggy and the larger ones still soft. Honestly, undercooked would have been much better as Raw Zucchini would not poison me! It is not my desire to down a business trying to make it in life, guess I have to keep looking for a better local spot. Oh, some napkins would have been nice, was able to use my shirt. read more

Came here this morning to get a breakfast burrito. First time getting one from here. I got the bacon breakfast burrito with everything in it: eggs, hash towns, bacon and salsa. It was good. Not the best I have had. The salsa was a tad on the too much spice side. I can eat spicy but for a regular breakfast burrito it was a little too much kick. Also the burrito is a lot smaller than most other places like Georges and Golden Ox. Overall it was good. What I don't like is how they are still a cash only place. This is the year 2016. It's time to start accepting cards and stay with the times. If it's too expensive then charge a fee for people that use cards like other business's do. I rarely carry cash and in this case I did happen to have cash. The lady up front was very nice and quick with getting my food out. read more

This is a local favorite here in Fullerton. People have been coming to this place for years regardless of the owner because quality has always been good here. Recently just had a double cheeseburger combo and it was still good like it was years ago. The only difference was maybe in price by a dollar but I havent been here in years so it needed to go up. Wow just wow........absolutley phenomi al burger and fries and today for the first time i had there breakfast burrito and let me tell you what. I have had probably every breakfast burrito within a 10 mile visinity of this place and this tied for #1 with athenians on la palma and dale. Absolutely amazed at how this little low key spot has both breakfast burritos and burgers on an A+ level with flying colors. HIGHly recommended! read more

Upon inspecting my receipt while I was waiting for my food, I realized that I had been charged full price for a cheeseburger ($6.59), a side of fried zucchini (a whopping $8.44), and a Coke ($3.89)...all together with tax, more than $20. According to the menu, you can make any burger a combo for an extra $5, and since a small fry is just a tad over $5, it's kind of like a combo is giving you a free Coke. It's a bummer that their system doesn't allow for substitutions, as this price did seem a little bit steep for what I was getting. When the food came out and I took a bite of my burger, I realized that I was going to want more 1000 Island spread than the burger had to offer (what can I say, I'm a sauce guy!) Surprise, surprise, - that turned out to be an extra $0.65. I had some cash on me, so I just gave the cashier a dollar and got back to my food. The burger was not bad. The fried zucchini had decent texture, but the breading was a bit thick for my preference and it lact flavor. All in all, the meal was just sorta okay. Price wise, it was definitely on the high side! I don't need for for restaurant meal that I enjoy to make me feel like I'm getting some kind of bargain, but if I'm paying premium pricing, I expect an outstanding. I don't see myself coming back.

I've been coming to this place all my life. This place is a West Fullerton staple. They only take cash which is a downer, and they don't have an ATM. They have yet to entire the 21st century when it comes to this. Though, it's not that big of a problem, because there is a 7-Eleven about 50 yards away that has an ATM. The food is pretty good. The burgers are good. If you are going to order fries, I suggest getting them well done. The ice that they use for drinks is good. It takes forever to start melting. They don't really have that many places to sit, so either get it to go or just eat in your car. read more

Heard about this place today, so I had to try it out. Ordered the chili cheese fries & pastrami sandwich. Excellent value, and if you leave hungry, it's your own fault. This place is really good everyone that works their is super friendly and the food is tasty. I have been coming here for years and the quality as stayed great. This place has had it's ups and downs. It's changed ownership a few times. It's generally clean for a whole in the wall drive in. The food is good is as good as any other small burger joint in Fullerton(ex. Nicks Super Burgers & Georges). This place is a piece of Fullerton history. read more
