My wife had already chosen A&J to do a new door for us, based on the great reviews. And so of course, a few weeks before the new door is due, the current garage door broke - that is, one of the two springs that assist the opening broke. Fyi don't let anyone tell you to have someone hit the open button while you lift, the damn things weigh a TON and there's no good handhold. I lost it about 2' up and when it fell, it almost cut my foot in half. Anyway, we spoke with Star in their office about noon, their guys were all out on a job but she promised to see what she could do. Sure enough, within half an hour, we heard back and the crew would come fix ours on the way back from their job in Breck, but it would be close to 4pm, and it's Friday. Two great guys showed up a bit after 4 and wasted no time getting to work, promising they'd have it fixed; I was willing to just have them get it open for me and do the repair Monday but, nope, they wanted to fix it. And they did, in well under an hour, to my amazement. I wish I would have watched how the hell they did it. I don't even know the cost but I'm confident it will be reasonable, and I'll be happy to pay that bill! Terrific company, highly recommend. read more

Stay away from A&J Garage Doors!! Here I sit, 4:30 Sunday afternoon, A&J Garage Doors told me they would be here between 11 & 2. No call, no show by A&J Garage Door. A&J installed the garage door in my out building about 6 years ago with no issues. This week, I started having problems getting the door to close so Friday morning at 8:20 AM I called A&J looking to get something set up for the next week. The gal that answered the phone told me they could be out there the same day (Friday) between 11-2. Well, they didn't show on Friday, but I did get a call about 2:30 saying they were running late and they'd be happy to come out on Saturday between 11-2 which I agreed to. Come Saturday I hung around the house waiting on them and 2 PM goes by, no call, no show. I was pissed. I called A&J asking what was going on and I got passed around to a couple of people on the phone. A guy named Devin got on the phone and I expressed my displeasure of spending 2 days at the house waiting on A&J Garage Doors. I told him I wanted to speak with the owner of the company. He told me that the owner does not work at the business and that he was the general manager. He told me he would take care of it and said they would come out on Sunday. Like a fool, I told him ok, he said they would be out between 11-2. Well, it's Sunday about 4:30 PM, and no call or show by A&J Garage Door. I don't know what happened to this company, but it's a total clown show at this point. I've spent 3 days waiting on these clowns and no one has looked at the door. You will be greeted well by Starr when you call, but the experience will go downhill from there. After 2 days of no call, no show the broken pane of glass was replaced with a cracked piece of glass. Charged more than $100.00 over the quote I received, apparently for some screws and oiling (which Chris told me they would do without quoting additional charges) but they left plenty of broken glass in my garage for me to sweep up. He apologized for the cracked glass and indicated he would address in the AM. It's now after noon and he hasn't called. CALL SOMEONE ELSE! I imagine I'll hear from him when he realizes I stopped payment on my check (something I've never done before). I am not paying nearly $300.00 for a broken piece of glass! read more

Woke up to a broken spring on my garage, and called several companies before finding A&J. They came out within two hours when I had a broken spring and got me working in under 20 minutes once they arrived. And even adjusted the force settings on my opener. I also needed my garage door replaced, and Heidi was really easy to work with in getting quotes, color samples, and custom window inserts at a very fair price. Wonderful service and fantastic, fast repair! I was about to leave the house today but found that cables on our garage door had snapped, meaning that the garage door wouldn't open. I called A and J, and just roughly two hours later someone was at our house fixing our door. It took maybe twenty minutes for Danny to fix the garage door. He was friendly and new what he was doing. I was very impressed! This is a great company that can quickly get the job done and do amazing work! I recommend them to anyone and everyone who needs garage door work. Maybe residential not commercial. Stay away he has no idea what he is doing when it comes to a commercial door. He did not install exactly what was there. Went down a 1/4 horse on the opener and did not install a brake and it was on there and we did ask for it in the initial bid. Did not hook up our loop and did not bother to tell us that is was not hooked up. I will never use him again. read more

Well where to begin? I was in need of a torsion spring repair and contacted their website for a quote, which I never received. So the next week I called, and set up a time for the repair in two days. I take off early from work to make it home. They no show! The next morning I get a phone call from them trying to arrange a time for that afternoon- I informed them of their missed appointment- "sorry it must have been a miscommunication" they said they'd give me a price break for the trouble, so I set up another appointment for two days later. -- two days later, I take off work early again to make it home in time for the repair..... They no show, no call AGAIN! They might do good work- but I will never be a customer who finds out. DONE! Looking up YouTube will let you know how to measure and spec springs for yourself- a few step by step DIY videos later and I saved myself $200! read more

t9/13/19 Vernon P Two of the company's employees installed a garage door on my detached garage on Friday. My garage has a low ceiling, so a low head room track and hardware had to be used. When I checked the operation before they left, the cable lock handle was loose and the door didn't lay flat against the old weather-stripping on top. I thought they would install new stripping, with the new door, but the tech said that wasn't included. The door went up and down, but at the time, I didn't check it further. The next day, I looked at the railing track installation and it didn't seem to be installed or secured to the door frame correctly and the lack of good workmanship was obvious. On Monday, I contacted Peggy about my concerns and texted her a few photos of the problem areas. Issues 1. The track support frame wasn't installed flat against the door frame, but was shimmed with ¾ inch plywood on top that split when the large screws went throw. 2. They split the door frame, where they used large lag bolts to anchor the track support because they didn't drill a pilot hole first. 3. Torsion spring shaft brackets were not installed level. 4. They installed different length door rollers, some are dirty as if they may have come from the old door. 5. Installed a keyed cable lever lock, with the only one cable latch, missing cable and latch to the other side. Handle was not installed level. 6. Missing nuts and bolts on the track. After reviewing several YouTube garage installations that were similar to mine, I had no doughs my issues were valid. Two of their employees returned 3 weeks later and they seem to think the install was ok. Bottom line, I made all the repairs myself and would never recommend this company. read more

Large spring at the top of the frame for the garage door broke in the early evening. I called these guys and left a message and they called me back so early in the morning I wasn't up yet to answer the phone. I missed the tech's availability that morning, but they got him here in the mid afternoon and he had the spring replaced in 20 minutes. He also performed a small service of the remaining pieces of the assembly and gave me some tips for regular maintenance on my own. I highly recommend these guys! read more

I have had major issues with a garage door for years that no company seemed to know how to fix. Further, they certainly did not want to try very hard. Most companies wanted to install a new door and said that a new door would probably fix the problem of a sagging concrete floor but would not guarantee the result. Having a limited budget and not confident of the outcome, I did not do anything. One morning in November of 2020, I heard a loud bang in the garage and my worst nightmare was realized. I went to open the door and found that one of the springs had snapped and the door would not open. What a dilemma. Replace one spring, two springs, the entire door, or what? I called A & J and someone came out to review the situation within two hours, on a Saturday morning! We decided that the door had to open so a temporary spring was installed to make the door functional. Then I began to ask a lot of questions about my options. After trying multiple approaches and numerous visits, Chris, the owner finally found a solution that was way out of the norm and still at an affordable price. I cannot recommend anyone more highly. I may still need a new door in the future but there is only one phone call I will be making at that time. Thank you Chris and company!!! read more

Had a very good experience with A & J. They were prompt and friendly, and the cost of replacing a couple springs wasn't much more than if I bought just the springs myself. And not only did they replace the springs, but also did some basic maintenance on the door - oiled the rollers, replaced & tightened some screws, etc. Would definitely use them again. read more

I couldn't be less happy. We hired A&J to install a door on a new garage. 6 months later it needed a minor adjustment and all we got was a major run around. No less than 6 phone calls including one conversation with the owner Chris, multiple promises to get a tech right out, missed appointments, we finally hired another company to come and make the repair. After I complained to Angie's List, the owner Chris called and gave the lamest set of excuses I have ever heard. read more

Would not recommend this guy (Chris) at all. First time, made appointment and he showed up almost two hours late. Gave him a second chance at another property and once again he showed up late. Except this time, he charged me almost $100.00 and didn't fix anything. He told me he had to leave but would take care of it later, and never saw the guy again. Tried to call him, and go figure...never heard from him again either. Many other garage door companies to choose from, so my recommendation is don't chance being ripped off by this guy. read more
