He listened to the issues we were having and started to check the system. He quickly and efficiently determined that the connection in the logic board was flaky, (the vibration while opening/closing the door would cause a glitch and the opener would stop). He noted that when the connector was bumped or jostled the light would go out just as it did whilst operating the door. He explained the three options to resolve the issue (replace the logic board, replace the opener, or having us buy a new opener and he'd install it. All three options which presented a great value). He wasn't sure if they had a replacement logic board as the opener is 14 years old (Craftsman 1/2 HP). He disconnected the faulty one and went back to check. Fortunately they had a new replacement logic board, he called to see if it was convenient to come Back and install the new board for us He installed it efficiently and professionally. We reprogrammed the opener remotes and key pad. It is soooo nice to have an operational garage door opener again! Ryan continued working, even redressing the sensor wires to the opener (as when the garage door opener was installed the wires were just draped over them support hardware and looked like a rats nest), oiled the moving parts in the garage door (including spring) all after checking to see that the door moved easily and was balanced. I called for service of the backup battery...and $2000 later, I have a new this and that, except now, neither light on the opener comes on, so I drive into my garage in the dark. I have less functionality than before I called for service. The friendly sell-me-everything-in-the-truck guy became quite snarly when I called him back to look at the (now worse) opener lights. Yep, the guy put in writing that I need a new opener (another $1500), and yep, I was stupid in listening to the fast talk for how the new springs and bearings would make everything work better. But when the opener finally goes, I will be calling anyone but these people.

When the technician arrived, I pointed out that the cable tension on that side seemed different from the other side. He spent about 30 minutes trying to fix it, but I could not stay with him the entire time, so I'm not sure what was actually done. In the end, he told me, "this is the best I can do" and that "it's just an old door." He also suggested replacing the doors. I paid $221 for this visit and was left with the same problem. That was extremely frustrating. I later fixed the issue myself. It turned out that the cable drum on one side had lost its grip on the torsion bar. The replacement part cost about $20, and after watching a few YouTube videos and spending about an hour, I was able to fix the issue. What bothers me most is that this seems like something an experienced garage door technician should have been able to diagnose. Instead, I was told it was just an old door and was pushed toward replacement

My home had suffered damage after the recent high winds in the Broomfield/Thornton/Westminster…read morearea. On one night during those high winds the door on my 60' mobile home would not latch. When I went outside to go to work the next morning the skirting at one end of the house was completely gone, just lying on the ground. I posted an ad on yelp as I have in the past. Dirk responded and I asked for an estimate of the work to level the home and repair the skirting. Dirk showed up the next day prepared to work. He introduced himself and described his years of experience with mobile home leveling specifically but also home construction in general. I scheduled a total of 3 estimates. I'm sure that if you're reading this you know that it is not easy to find a professional for mobile home re-leveling. I selected him based on the conversation that we had and it seemed clear that he understood what was needed. He returned 2 days later at the scheduled time and started working. The first day I could not tell if the house was leveling or not. The house sits on a fairly steep incline and for the last year that I've been in this unit there was a line from the south end of the house that ran nearly the entire length of the house basically bisecting the bedroom and kitchen as well as part of the living room while the front half of the house (including the kitchen) sagged a bit. On the second day when I got home from work I immediately noticed that the bedroom and kitchen were no longer sagging. When I went to bed my bed felt perfectly level. I felt so much relief as I had gotten so used to the house being slanted slightly. I walked into the kitchen and saw the difference immediately. It was evening at that point so I text and let him know that I could feel the difference. He said that he'd come back to make some fine adjustments and he wanted to check again from inside to make sure he got it right. Not only that. A previous contractor that was hired prior to me moving in had removed some of the insulation around the pipes and did not replace it. Dirk was kind enough to point this out, explain why it was necessary and provide insulation and replace it. Apparently the owner was aware of this as well. He rebuilt and re-enforced the skirting by framing it with plywood and then somehow securing it to the concrete. He came back a final time to make adjustments to the leveling and skirting and I left for work that day while he worked. When I returned home I immediately saw that the door the was having trouble opened and closed perfectly. He had not even come inside that day. This man is a wizard with this type of work. He seems to genuinely be a great person and for the price that he quoted, both I and the landlord believe that it was worth every penny. My landlord has already rehired him for another job. He does what he says he's going to do and he clearly knows exactly what he is doing and that is what matters. If you need leveling, skirting or framing I can attest that I think you'd be wise to hire this guy.

Ryan came over on time, he quickly assessed the situation with my garage door and opener, and provided me a great summary of his evaluation and recommendations. Within two hours Ryan replaced my springs, cables, rollers, and opener, and the garage door works great and is quieter than I can ever remember it being. He also said that he would come back in the following week with some stronger springs to install due to the weight of my door, and he would do that at no charge. I used the "get a quote" tool on Yelp and asked that half a dozen people to provide a quote to repair my Torquemaster spring system. All of them came back and told me that the spring I had as not repairable and wanted to install a more traditional spring. The prices ranged from $300 - $500 but Asher from Local First was quick to respond to my questions, he had great reviews, and his price was near the cheapest. When he arrived, he quickly analyzed my installation and then went to work. Before I knew it, he had completed the swap out, and the door was back in working order. He removed all of the old components and had the work area cleaned up in just over an hour. Long story short, Asher is excellent, and his prices are fair.

The old door came apart as it was opening, trapping a car in the garage and leaving a large gap in the doorway. Asher came by the next day to give me an estimate, and while he was here he opened the door enough that I could get the car out and then was able to close the door to secure the garage. He did that at no charge and with no promise of getting the replacement job. The replacement cost was very reasonable and was completed two days later. The new door is much better than the old and operates much more smoothly. I can't recommend this service more highly!
