I want to start by thanking Jessica and her wonderful husband for the kindness, patience and reassurance they showed me in the past few weeks. I'll start by saying that I didn't have a wedding dress 3 weeks leading up to my wedding. Long story short, after my move to Atlanta shortly before my wedding, I realized my dress was gone. After receiving a last-minute dress from BHLDN, I saw that the waist was HUGE and the back straps were completely wonky due to my scoliosis. Stressed out, getting over the flu, and crying all over the place, I desperately tried to find someone who would take me 2 weeks before my flight left for Austin. When I called A & J, they told me to come in ASAP so that they could accommodate my schedule. Jessica worked her magic and they both reassured me that everything would be fine (though I saw the cogs turning in Jessica's brain about how she would pull this off on such short notice). I came in 2 more times for my final fitting and to secure my bustle, each time greeted with patience and genuine care. I trust this place wholeheartedly with any alterations I need done! Came to them DAYS before my wedding for a jumpsuit that desperately needed fixing after they did my friend's wedding gown the month prior. She raved about them, so I went. I realized too late that there were several parts of my jumpsuit that didn't quite fit right and with very little extra fabric to do any alterations with, I asked them to lengthen the straps and do some work on it -- they were extremely hesitant and transparent about doing it letting me know that this hem would show, it might not look right, etc. I told them to do it anyway because it was my last resort and I really wanted to change into this jumpsuit from my gown at my wedding. I picked it up two days later AND IT WAS BEYOND PERFECT. They went above and beyond to fix my jumpsuit and all the imperfections they claimed that would show up were nearly invisible. I originally found this place based on a Yelp review and now I can leave several success stories of my own! The first dress I brought here was as a bridesmaid. They hemmed me right up, it fit great and it was a super quick turn around. So with that, they were my first pick when it came to my wedding dress as well. I brought in my dress which was a beautiful off the shelf a line wedding going. It needed it taken in at the top, sides as well as hemmed (I'll try to post pictures as well). The dress was covered in lace from the top to the beginning of the flair. in order to take the dress in correctly, they had to remove every single piece of lace on the top and resow this back on after it had been taken in. My appointments were as follows Appt. 1 - measure top, have them take off lace, take in the dress top and readd the lace. Also, my dress had three layers of "poof" underneath for shape. I don't know the right word for this but I asked for one to be removed because the dress was SO hot with all the layers. Appt. 2 - I came back to try on the top which was perfect. Tight but exactly what you would expect. She made it so that I would perfectly not have to wear a bra and the lace was resown very well. The second layer being removed really helped the temp. as well too. I also brought my shoes to this appt. so that she could take exact measurements on wear to hem. Finally I wanted to bustle the dress. She was able to do this after measuring the hem without an extra appt. I was so impressed with their work overall. I bought a beautiful unique wedding dress online but it needed alterations to fit me properly. I took the dress into A&J and now it fits me PERFECTLY. I barely even needed to say what I wanted, she just knew exactly what needed to be done for it to look stunning. I also wanted a bustle but the dress had these embroidered floral appliqués on the train so she very carefully invented a bustle that still showed the flowers when the dress was bustled. The dress is absolutely perfect now and I can't recommend A&J enough. The price was also very affordable for these type of alterations. They ruined my Maid of Honor dress for a wedding I have in 4 days. I dropped my dress of 5 week ago. I went to pick it up on Saturday and they said it wasn't ready after having it for almost 5 weeks. Came back on Monday, tried it on, and the hip area looked super off/felt too tight/and was pulling weirdly. I only asked for the hem and the waist to be taken it slightly because it was a little big around my waist. Lady brushed me off so I decided to go home and try it on again when I wasn't so rushed. It was even worse. I couldn't even sit down. I brought it somewhere today frantic and he said that it was absolutely awful and looked like a rushed job. He was horrified they let me walk out like that (showed them photos before I ever had the dress altered as well). Fingers crossed this new place can fix my dress and in time for the wedding. I paid $100 at A&J for them to have my dress for 5 weeks and essentially ruin it. I'd post pictures but it's currently trying to be salvaged. read more

I've taken multiple compression garments here to have them altered with great success. It's a small business in Buckhead that's been around for quite some time and everyone that I asked about altering Fajas recommended this location to me. They measure you on site spec fit the faja and then do a final alteration which is great. But they are very busy and so what I've learned is that you should make an appointment it's just the owner a husband and wife and the mom that are there mostly so it can take a little bit longer but they are fantastic. read more

I brought in my boyfriend's old corduroy jacket that used to be his dad's. It has sentimental value, but the sleeves were torn at the cuff and the lining had been worn away behind the neck. I brought it to A&J and she listened to what I wanted, worked with me to figure out what was possible to fix and what was just going to make it worse. I brought in my own fabric for her to use to reconstruct the cuff and part of the lining. When I went to pick it up, it looked amazing. I know she expressed concern over her ability to fix it, but the quality of her work shows her skill. I honestly felt like I could've hugged her. Thank you very much. A&J seem like friendly people. It looks like a family-owned business since I do see their kids there. They also look pretty slammed. I guess they're a very popular place to get your clothes altered. I mean, look at the yelp reviews, people love it here. The price is about similar to what you'll pay in the area. It did take them a long time to get the job done though. I think that's due to them being so busy. I brought my pants in to get hemmed, and they said it would take a week. A week? I didn't need the pants right away, and they seemed like they would've worked with my schedule if I needed it sooner. Luckily, I didn't need my pants quickly, so a week was fine. But I would take that into consideration if you need something fast. They're very nice people. They seemed to care and a lot of people seem to like them. Their parking lot is pretty small though. Luckily, there's a lot of paid street parking. Or you can park in the Buckhead Shops parking deck. But that would cost money. But the actual drop off shouldn't take too long so it should be a quick in and out affair. read more

Had 4 pairs of jeans hemmed and they were great! It seemed like they were a family run store and the mom and dad work there. Super friendly and accommodating. Most recently I had a long chiffon dress - ladies you know the ones from J. crew - that material. And they did a great job. She took it in in the back and then hemmed it because I'm so short! But it was $70-ish. And she did a lot of work. So she took it in a little too much to my liking the last inch of the zipper in the back but the waist part of it was perfect! So I had to have her let it out again and she was so great about the whole thing. She had it done the next day! You can't tell that the dress was taken in at all or shortened. The needlework is ok, service is sloppy at best. Tread carefully if you want to tailor your suits and gowns here. First time I dropped off a few professional suits for tailoring, about 6 pieces in total. Charged me about $200. However when I came back to pick them up owner said they miscalculated the fees and charged me for another $100. I gave it another chance and came back with two delicate lace silk dresses. I was charged a little less than $100 and I was asked to pick up the dresses in about 20 days. Nearing the scheduled date, hearing nothing from the shop, I phoned the shop. I was told by the confused owner that my name is not in the book; nor did she remember the dresses I was talking about; she also suspected that someone else picked up my dresses the day before. The back and forth on the phone took 20 minutes of my work day time. Fortunately the dresses were located. When I went to pick up my dresses, there are scratches and needle holes on the silk, and my lace trim has spots of yellow stain all over. Dry clean store told me they can't clean the spots for me because the cleaning might open up the needle holes. read more
