The issue was straightforward and resolvable in a single day. After eleven days of vague and questionable excuses, I finally got my car back. I don't know if Tune Tech's policy is to "just get them in" and then manage as best they can, but it would explain the overpromising and underdelivering I experienced. I hope their scheduling and policies don't reflect their technical abilities. I hope they fixed my car correctly. I wish I didn't have that doubt. Time will tell. Two stars instead of one because they provided me with a discount as compensation.

I was informed by an employee at Valley Transmission that they had used Chinese parts to do the rebuild. For $3400 dollars I was expecting OEM parts so this came as a total surprise to me. As far as I can tell the work done by the Valley Transmission mechanic was solid but the Chinese parts used in the rebuild are of inferior manufacture and the warranty is expired so I am now left $3400 poorer with a nonfunctional vehicle. RESPONSE TO VALLEY TRANSMISSIONS RESPONSE: Sheryl, It doesn't matter where they were purchased from. I was informed by a Valley Transmission employee that they were Chinese manufactured parts. With multiple failures (one right after the rebuild) the parts used in the rebuild are clearly of inferior manufacture.

They're squeaking already (presumably dust), so we took it back in to be looked at. They suggested a $2200 censor replacement on her 2019 car. A censor change that no "lights" are indicating. They claimed the squeak was coming from some all wheel drive alignment in the back, when the squeak is clearly in the front and only when braking. Luckily, they also suggested a few other fixes for her that confirmed our suspicions. They called me and told me that it had low compression on cylinder 1 and was going to need a new engine as well as many other repairs it needed. After quoting me a very high price, I declined and proceeded to pick up my truck later that day. When I went to pick up my truck, they again stated it would need a new engine, but when I asked what caused the low compression they stated that they did not know why. After taking matters into my own hands, I found amazing and consistent compression on all 8 cylinders of my engine and a faulty EGR valve that was causing all my problems. After replacing the EGR valve the truck ran flawlessly and hasn't had that problem since. I am so glad I didn't fall for a new engine! We were concerned about what we should do as it was the afternoon on a weekend. I remember hearing commercials about Golden Rule so I immediately searched them and found that we were less than 2 miles away from this location. We went in and were greeted by a gentleman behind the counter. We told him the situation and he let us know that they were booked for the day but would be happy to look at it after one of the cars were completed. We were so grateful he was willing to get us in we were happy to wait. After one of the other vehicles was finished they pulled our vehicle in. They were able to determine that a rock had gotten behind the caliper and was causing the grinding sound. They removed the Rock and did a inspection to make sure there was no damage, and luckily there wasn't. They were able to determine that our tires brakes and rotors looked great and no additional work was needed. So relieved we went to the counter to see what we owed and were shocked, they weren't charging us at all. They said it was an easy fix and they were happy to help and if we need anything in the future to come back. We are so incredibly grateful for this wonderful company that puts their customers first. I do my own brakes so I knew that wasn't true to begin with. I agreed to have the suspension work done because I didn't have time to deal with it on my own. Struts and the associated parts are pretty easy to install, you just need the time to get it done. $3200. Super spendy. I can tell when my brake pads need replaced, so today was the day to do the back pair. When I went to remove the wheel I noticed the lug nuts hadn't been torqued when Golden Rule put them back on the car. Upon further inspection I noticed a bolt missing from where the caliper attaches to the caliper bracket. They are the only ones who've inspected that part. The looseness caused uneven wear of the pads and warped the rotor, which was nearly new. So this aroused my suspicion. I decided to check out if they even did the work they said they did on the suspension. I looked at the photos on the estimate and the parts they were going to use. The photos were not of my car. The parts they said they were going to use (and marked up 3x the retail price) were of much higher quality than what ended up being installed. I paid for pretty much top of the line struts and instead got bottom of the barrel struts. I'm super pissed about this and will be taking them to small claims court. They committed fraud and left my car in a less safe condition. There are lots of great, honest car shops in Spokane. When you have to run a commercial on radio every 15 minutes telling everyone how virtuous your business is, it's probably not very virtuous. I'll see you scumbags in court.
