I bought a very nice J. Crew wool pea coat at Goodwill at a great price ... only problem was the shredded lining. (A little curious what the story was there - but clearly it needed a home.) Anyway, after a short and curse-filled session trying to fix it myself with needle and thread - then considering wearing it "as is" while somehow never revealing the ugliness underneath - I took it to A & M after researching on Yelp. She showed me that only the sleeve linings needed to be replaced, which I'm sure saved me some $$$. Turns out I did need to buy my own replacement fabric, but she gave me directions to the nearest fabric store and told me generally what to buy. It was kind of fun, really. Best of all, the coat was done in a week, at a reasonable cost, with good workmanship to my eye. And I have a cool designer coat at a thrift shop price - plus it was probably saved from the landfill. A and M saved me! I was asked to be a bridesmaid, ordered the dress (nonrefundable) ... and then I found out I was pregnant. The dress came in just a week before the wedding and no surprise, it didn't fit any more! (who knew your RIBS can expand when you're pregnant?!) A and M was able to let my dress out, within the fast turn around time I needed...and it was something like $30 to do it. I was floored. I brought in 4 pairs of really nice jeans to be altered, and they turned out great! You can't even tell that it's not the original hem. My only kind of complaint is that they are a little shorter than I was expecting so if you like to keep your jeans really long, I would suggest having her hem them a touch longer than you think you need. I found this place on the recommendation of fellow Yelpers. I was looking for a place to get some pants altered as I recently bought 3 news suits. Not gonna lie, the place is not the easiest to find and when I came in it felt a bit like I was putting people out. I tried on the pants and they came over made made some quick marks, and I repeated the process with the other 2 pants. Came back a few days later and the pants were a great fit. Very happy with the work, the customer service and attention to customers left something to be desired. The price was excellent too as it saved me from the high tailoring costs the store wanted to charge me. I will consider going back in the future. read more

I needed to get some jeans hemmed and I hadn't had any alterations done since moving to Denver a year ago. I read reviews about local places and decided my go-to dry cleaning place wasn't the place for my alterations. I found this gem of a place and saw it had great reviews. And for good reason. I stopped by at 6pm on a Friday afternoon (they were closing at 6:30) and had my measurements done. When I was checking out I was told they would be ready by Tuesday! Wow! I wasn't expecting that quick of a turn around at all, especially considering the amount of work that was already going on there. And a fair price, to boot! I just picked up my jeans and they fit perfectly. The lady is so nice and is very knowledgeable, picking up on the conversations between her and the two customers that we're getting measurements done before me. I came here to get a bridesmaid dress altered for my friend's upcoming wedding. A different alteration place told me they couldn't do it and I was really stressed I wouldn't be able to find someone to do it. Well not only we're they able to get it done, but it was done much quicker than I imagined and it was done really well. I really can't even tell that it was altered and it's a pretty complicated dress. He was able to let it out like 5 inches (yay covid weight) without a problem. She did a good job with four jeans I took in but I took in a pair of Brunello Cucinelli jeans and she made the crotch area too tight to the point that it looked like I had a visible wegi. What really bothered me was that she claimed they looked fine when in fact my crotch couldn't breath and it felt like I was going to neuter myself if I did a squat. The jeans made me look ridiculous. Had she admitted to a simple "awshit" then I would have labeled this tragedy as an "accident" which I get it it happens sometimes, no big deal. I can't really blame her as she looked overworked and tired judging by the enormous pile of clothing she had in the back. I would be happy to pay three times more if she actually took her time. Better than losing a pair of $600 jeans. I also took in 2 shirts to have the sleeves shortened, the shirts were returned with the sleeves twisted. A&M quickly fixed the problem but the sleeves were still slightly twisted. She convinced me that it's just how the shirts were made, that was until I took the shirts to a much more expensive tailor who pointed out the sleeves were indeed poorly sewn on. He charged two times what A&M charged me but he made my really expensive shirts look like very expensive shirts and not like some shirts that came out defective from the assembly line. Sadly the jeans couldn't be saved. UPDATE: I took in two shirts which which A&M altered just to see if they could be made a slight slimmer to fit my frame. A&M said there was nothing that could be done to make a shirt fit just a tad bit better from sides. It's called SHIRT DARTS!!!!!!!! You should know this! A&M told me that one of my shirts was beyond altering due to a size issue but I took an over sized shirt to another tailor and he made it fit great. A&M you made me give away a $600 Salvatorre shirt which yea it's really my fault for not returning it back on time but still you could have told me what an experienced tailor would tell their clients instead of just skipping the shirt because it was "tricky", not cool. read more

Dropped my Brand new bridesmaids dress off and as soon as the guy grabbed my dress, it looked like he got blood or some sort of red paint on it. He became very persistent that he would make sure he would get it out. $125 later and a week before it was originally scheduled for pick up, I came to see if my dress was done, it was, and had stains all on the bottom of my dress! The guy who got the red stain on it before told me at least 4 times that "they didn't do the stain". I ended up taking it to the cleaners up the street who warned me to never go back to A&M because they are not clean in their shop, do not take pride in their work, and also are very expensive. So I ended up having to pay an extra $35 dollars for my dress to be cleaned. Much better, not to mention cheaper options out there. Plus they let their dog run around the work area. Probably where the stains came from. read more

I have taken my clothes to another place in the area to get alterations and have had to return multiple times to get stitches redone. So I gave A and M a try. I have only ever seen one lady there and she is super friendly. I have some pants hemmed and they came out great. So I had her alter the waist of some dress pants and they came out good too. I noticed she ha dry cleaning there too So asked about it. She can accept clothes to be pressed and cleaned. I gave it a try. The shirts came back nicely pressed with the right amount of starch. So I decided to let her clean one of my nice suites. They came back very clean, not faded and well pressed. I was very impressed with all of her services. read more

I had three dress shirts gifted to me but they were too large. I went into A&M and the woman who measured me for my fit was very friendly and efficient! I told her how I wanted the shirts to fit and she definitely delivered. The service was speedy and the shirts came back just the way I had wanted! The pricing in my opinion was fair for the quality of work that I received and I had no problem adding a tip for such a convenient experience. I wish I could give these people zero stars. When I called I asked how much a pant trim would be and she said $20. When I got there, tried it on and she pinned it up she then said $30. No big deal because I felt like these people might need the money more than me. Then upon my surprise coming back to pick up my alteration they had no idea where my stuff was. He was asking for my phone number and I did not remember the lady asking for my phone number. I tried showing him pictures of my stuff and he wouldn't even look at them. Then he said I could go behind the counter and look for my stuff. I'm frantically looking for my stuff in tears, did 2 rounds and then finally found it hanging right behind him. He pulls off the alteration receipt attached to my pants and points at it with no name and no phone number on it and start screaming SEE! YOUR FAULT! YOUR FAULT! Mind you, I am still crying, but he does not care at all. I will never be back here again and I strongly urge you to go somewhere else if you are even kind of considering. read more

I didn't get anything fancy tailored but I was very happy with the end result. I had purchased a skirt from Banana Republic that was entirely too long and strangely had a vent in the front rather than the back (seriously, BR, get a new designer). I requested that the skirt be hemmed, that the front vent be closed and that they open a vent in the back. They did so perfectly. You could never tell that the front of the skirt ever had a vent. The back of the skirt looks as it was meant to. Overall, it's exactly what I wanted. A star off because it was $36 of which $18 was for the hem and $9 for closing the vent and $9 for opening one. $18 for a unlined hemming seems a bit high, especially when Duman's in Cap Hill charges $10. read more

Pants off the rack NEVER fit me so I have to get them tailored every time. I took four pairs of work pants for simple hems after finding this place on Yelp with mostly good reviews. I wore my flats and was very specific in the length I wanted. I don't know if it was the language barrier or what, but all four pairs still drag the ground when I wear them. The woman working was impatient and acted like my business was an inconvenience, both when I dropped them off and when I picked them up. On top of the bad service, now I have to take them somewhere else and pay again to have them hemmed properly. I don't normally post such low reviews, but maybe this will save someone else the trouble. read more

I posted a picture of my RUINED WEDDING DRESS up above. It's simple really...I went into A&M because id been here before. My dress just needed to be hemmed like a couple inches up...Easy right? No, she marked my 3 thousand dollar silk dress with a type of chalk without me even knowing what she was doing. I knew she was not capable of the job very quickly and left with my dress. No big deal...I take my dress, go about my day and show up at wedding seamstress and when we take my dress out of the bag and I'm in it - every knowledgeable seamstress in the room gasps! I'm like what? It's just chalk trying to dust it off and they all say no! That's not coming out. They tried for over an hour to get the stuff out of my dress and on top of that there's 4 very distinct snags that run up and down my dress where she pinned it up. In the end they give me the option to go low hi only...I had already decided I wanted a long dress and when I realized that lowhi was my only option I burst into tears. I left my dress with them to "fix" and go back to A&M and tell her what's going on. This woman refused to even try to sympathize with me when I confronted her. She YELLED AND SCREAMED AT ME! Telling me she doesn't know me or what dress I'm talking about...What? I'm sorry, is this your wedding dress? It's really unfortunate because I was taking pictures and video the whole time she was marking my dress ( little did I know) and this will come in handy when I take her to court. If she would have talked to me I'm sure we could work something out. She went so psycho on me I'm not sure I feel like going in to work with her again. Shame shame... Overpriced. I had an unlined dress hemmed here about 2 in. The work was done very well however I did not like the fact that they wanted to charge my card without first telling me the amount. They also requested me to pre-pay. I have never paid for work that has not yet been done but it was insisted that I pay first, and I needed the work done. The lady working there tried to charge me almost $60 for a 2in hem on an unlined dress! No. I didn't even need the dress back in less than a week, it's not like it was a rush job. After explaining that was unnecessary for the dress she lowered the price $10. This is still ridiculous that work should have not been more than $30 AT MOST. I will not be becoming back due to the methods and price. There are many other tailors offering the same services for much less. read more

I was humiliated and berated by the seamstress, so I offered to pay her for her time, and she charged my card $10. Honestly, I don't mind. Thank god for Yelp and learning about this little gem! We have been living in a dry cleaning and alterations void after banning Carousel Cleaners from ruining our clothes. My husband took some items here that needed alterations and then we found out Mia will take dry cleaning too! Not on site as far as I know, she takes it to "a friend", but who cares? $14 for a suit and 3 dress shirts, yes please! She is quick and efficient, but most importantly, meticulous. Brought in a suit to be tailored based upon the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Yelp. I found the owner/operator to be initially friendly but when I came back for my suit, the jacket was way too tight, and the pants about an inch too short. When I brought this up, she dismissed it and said it looked fine. When I got home, I realized the seam she created on the rear of the jacket was uneven and lumpy. Ended up going to another tailor in Boulder where they made everything perfect. Wasted about $45 here and won't be going back. read more

I think her ability to tailor garmets is good. The problem is that she is rude and will say anything without shame. When I went in to pick up my dress, I brought a friend with me and the woman was openly critisizing the coat she was wearing. This woman has absolutely no tact. It is difficult though, because finding a good tailor at a fair price is a hard thing in Denver. read more

I turned to my fellow yelpers and discovered A & M Alterations. Oh how I wish this place were closer to Cap Hill! I was in and out when I dropped the dresses off - a few quick pins and viola! One week later my dresses were ready to wear. They really do fit perfectly now. Taking in the sides and tightening up the top cost $10/dress. I think I could have had the length altered for this price also. I wanted pads sewn into the top of a maxi dress and I was told that it might ruin the overall appearance. Mia (I think?) suggested that I throw some bandaids on underneath and call it a day. Definitely appreciate this honesty, and the laugh it gave me! read more
