As a general rule, I do not like Mortgage brokers. After my experience with A&N, I can say that as a specific rule, that I do love Neena and Kiki (professionally only). Let's talk general first. I find that there aren't many barriers to entry across the industry. As a result it attracts its fair share of fast talkers, sharks and flakes. Despite this poor cast, I kind of enjoy sparring with them... sort of a guilty pleasure. Which is why I was surprised that working with Neena and Kiki was a guiltless pleasure. They are exactly what you want: Knowledgeable, Prompt, Organized & Honest. Neena & Kiki did a refinance of my condo mortgage. Neena understood the market, always returned my calls quickly and didn't try to bully me with used car salesmen-like tactics (if you are a first timer, you'll find many of these types out there). Overall, they helped me save $400 a month. What happened next was even more telling of Neena and her character. I approached her on a separate deal, one that could (COULD not WOULD) have been a conflict of interest for her. Neena said "no" to the deal which surprised me in a really good way. It's what separates them from the pack... I was able to do the deal with another broker, no problem, but she was still there advising me on a deal that she wouldn't make a cent on. Recommended Brad and A&N to a friend whose broker dropped the ball 15 days before the tax credit expired by finally admitting to never having applied to have her condo FHA approved. Although Brad (or any other broker) could not get the building FHA approved in 15 days he was able to work with her to get a convential mortgage done with only 5% down allowing her to make the closing deadline for the 8K credit. She is a very happy camper. Also as an update to my refinance as I was told was going to happen A&N immediately sold my mortgage to Chase. While I was in the bank branch to set up automatic payments the Chase representative commented on how good my new mortgage terms were saying i probably could not have gotten them if I had gone to them directly. Considering the amount of $$ I am paying interest on to Chase I was very happy to hear that. read more

This review is long overdue but I never had a YELP account until today. I can only speak about my experience with Tony Ranft. It took him 6 months to realize that he couldn't complete the loan after he had pre-approved me - he's incompetent. I should have fired him the first week when I had to call him 3x to get a call back. But b/c he dragged his feet and left me hanging for 6 months, I lost $10K on architectural fees that I didnt' need and fees for exceeding the time given to secure financing. He ended up referring me to a bank after 6 months b/c he couldn't do the loan. BUT, the kicker was that he said that he was going to go to his boss and see what he can do to help recoup the cost. I bugged him a few times about it but never heard back...that's his MO. Either he was lying to me or his bosses didn't care I lost $10K on the deal...we had just had our first kid too! If you're looking for a guy who doesn't respond to your phone calls and emails or work with a company who hires people like Tony...have at it. And if you think I'm lying...I've kept all the entire email string starting on 1/27/10 when he pre-approved me through 7/22/12 when he finally referred me to someone else - after I lost $10K. Side bar...our buyer was so upset that they yelped about how unprofessional and tardy Tony was. A & N ended up getting the review taken off of YELP b/c the buyer wasn't the direct client. How do I know about it? Tony contacted me thinking it was me and that's when he told me he would see what he can do to help recoup my cost... I never heard from him again after A&N got it taken off! read more

What a nightmare! We were searching for a new home and trusted A & N to get us to the finish line. We met with Mike McNamara who sold us on A & N and made all these grand promises that we would be taken care of by him and his "team". This turned into us being passed around from Joel, to Amy, back to Joel, back to Amy and at one point Alison. We were being passed around so much we couldn't figure out who we were dealing with at any given point. We had to submit the same documents multiple times to multiple people because they couldn't communicate within themselves and their "team" effectively. According to Mike, Amy was supposed to call us every week on Tuesday to discuss our loan and any needed documentation. This never happened. Ever. They were all very good at throwing each other under the bus. Great team right? At one point we received a voicemail from Amy saying we were good to close. (Amy later lied and said she never left that voicemail even though the voicemail clearly said "hi this is Amy from A&N"). A week later we received an email from Mike (whom we seldom heard from) saying we were not clear to close and needed to request an extension from our buyer and our seller ( we were selling and buying). This email came 3 days prior to closing on both places. 3 days!! We had to cancel movers, cable and Internet technicians amongst other things. According to Mike, you need to have a clear to close 5 days prior to closing which means that they knew about us not being able to close for almost a week but yet didn't feel the need to communicate this with us until 3 days before closing. The email thread showed the "team" discussing this delay for 5 days prior to telling us. We were the last ones to find out anything. This delay happened twice. Their lack of competency and professionalism is absolutely mind boggling as is their carelessness. At another point it took us about 4 days, countless emails and phone calls to their office to get ahold of them and figure out the status of our loan. Even our realtor got involved and expressed his frustration at their lack of care and urgency in getting us to the finish line. Mike called me after we closed to apologize for him and his teams' unprofessionalism and lack of communication. He recognized he was at fault for our delays and should have communicated not just with us but within his team better. I would not recommend Mike or A&N to anyone unless you're looking forward to sleepless nights and countless headaches. Mike is nothing but a sales person and does not care at all about the customers. read more

It has been almost six months to the date from what has been a total nightmare as a first time home buyer. This included an extremely difficult seller who was highly unresponsive, a pending condo association litigation and an original mortgage broker who was all smiles until dropping the ball at the closing table where he informed us the lender would not lend money against this property. Already 5 months into this process and a rental lease expiring in only a few weeks, I had to scramble to purchase a property I had been entirely set on in a neighborhood Ioved. After talking to SIX other lenders who instantly shot me down for this property, it wasn't until I was referred to Neena at A&N that there was a glimmer of hope. The seller was more difficult than before, and we had less than four weeks to close- I don't know how, but here I am typing from my new place still in disbelief that we made it.
