We are in our 50's and 60's and are so tired of staying at these big resorts full of people with resort/parking fees. Some how looking on a digital map we found The Beach Retreat. Natalie, JJ and crew are so accomodating to get the room you need and even if you need to adjust your reservation. We originally were staying on the beach side, but with our arrival date changing they put us on the canal/bay side. Once arriving and getting in our room we were glad we were in this room. Just steps from our room was the pool. Ten steps from our sliding door was the water's edge and the boat docks where you can fish. Our favorite thing to do in the morning and evening is to drink coffee/cold beverage while we people watch on various water devices. Bonus is watching the kiddos jump from the bridge without the sherrif deputies cartching them, LOL! The beach front is just across the street where the office is. Every morning, your will find staff working to make sure the grounds are clean and ready for another day. From the outside, you can tell that resort was built back in the 60's, but is updated. This room has a queen bed which was fine, spacious shower and the kitchen/ living space was all in one place. Small, but perfect for the 2 of us. If you want a unit more updated and spacious, stay on the beach side. However, we love being able to step outside our door and be entertained by the view. The only negatives, our toilet was a very low old style toilet and the grill was in bad shape. Upon our departure, we ran into one of the owners and it sounded like they were going to be updating those. We stayed here in April 2026 and have reservations to stay again in October 2026. If our experience matches or succeedes our April visit, this will probably become our go to retreat to get away from Missouri's chilly temps. Note: If you are looking something big with an upbeat feeling with all the bells and whistles, then this is not for you. If looking for something right on the beach, low key, no hidden fees and great customer service? This may be your new hidden gem. read more

We stayed here for 3 days celebrating our 21st anniversary & I so wanted to give this location a 5 star but I couldn't on the same hand go below 4 either. I travel for work and stay in hotels all across the country so I know a few things about customer service. First off it's a no frills type of place so don't expect greatness but it also isn't the slums. We stayed in unit 21 facing the courtyard. The queen room was extremely compact and I'm guessing 250 sf tops. It did have a small kitchen with one of the smallest sinks I ever washed dishes in but it worked. They do supply just about everything u need to cook a small dinner or breakfast if u choose to do while your staying. The fridge was nice and worked ( made strange noises both nights ) & the shower was decent ( not the greatest pressure but it was hot ) we found a local grocery store and picked up items for breakfast. Both morning we made bacon and eggs and chilled outside Parking seemed small but we always had a place to park when we made it back from being out. Here's the pros & cons imo Cons ----- tiny Ants in the kitchen were annoying, zero breakfast options , small rooms , no DVD players in the room, all types of odd noises throughout the day and night. We kept hearing noises coming from the drains ( gurgling ) shower pressure was very low but got the job done. Pro's ---- Walking distance to the beach ( less than 200 ft , room AC will freeze u out , the queen bed was decent , they have outdoor grills ( 2 ) 3 sets of tables to sit and chill for morning coffee or dinner. Very quiet atmosphere especially since there's a huge Public parking area right next door. The girls in the office were pretty friendly. Maintence guy was super nice and took care of a few issues we had very quickly. Overall it's a really good place to stay. It's an older place for sure but it has a certain charm that pulls u in. Would I stay here again ahh I don't know. I think foe the money u pay it's a good place but I'm pretty sure if u wanted greatness it's also here in Venice as well. I really wished there was an in room DVD player because we brought out wedding video from 21 years ago to sit and watch There's a place called Pop's sunset grill that we had dinner @ that was awesome. Great spot on the beach. You can either stay on intercoastal or gulf. We were on gulf side and it was awesome. You just walked down a short path and your toes were in the sand. They offer loungers for free to. Great place to watch the sunset. Room was a small suite with refrigerator, etc. There is a little area amongst the rooms that you can sit, grill out, etc. Check-In was easy! read more

I am going to preface this review that I am a long-time customer of this hotel. My family and I have been going here for five years until this year have had a fairly satisfactory experience. This year we stayed in a hotel room with a view of the beach and my wife immediately complained of the smell of mold, a drawer in the kitchen fell off and hit my child in the head, and we were blamed for breaking a pull out mattress that we never used. When I called customer service to discuss Why we were being charged extra for cleaning the room they told us we broke this pull out mattress and the dresser drawer that hit my child in the head. They were unwilling to listen to us about our side of the story and decided to just charge us the extra room cleaning fee as if this were some sort of scamy side business for them to get extra revenue. I never thought I would be the one posting a negative review on yelp but this hotel does not deserve your business there are plenty of choices find somewhere else. Very nice secluded place on even quieter street. It's really small with 11 numbered rooms. Rooms 1-5 have best views of gulf. Rooms 6-11 have view of very close building next door and fence. all rooms have own table and two chairs. The building is about 100 feet from the water and a long open beach that runs the length of casey key. This is not crowded beach, even with public parking a quarter mile south. The rooms have been fairly recently remodeled. These aren't large rooms but thanks to IKEA furniture, they are efficiently arranged. The shower is a really large walk in shower. The fridge is hide in cabinet with sink in main room. There is small corner closet. not good for week of clothes but for half a dozen things it works. The rooms are quiet and parking is good here. The only things that keep that fifth star from the rating are no office here and no ice machine. The office is located at Bentley boutique inn (1660 S Tamaimi trail, osprey, fl 34229) and you get the key card there, your next day breakfast, and you can use their pool too! read more

Perfect. Not fancy but not even close to roughing it. And the staff are fabulous. This is a self assisted set up. But, if you need anything that they supply they are generous and very helpful! A family destination wedding of 30 of us descended on this compound. And it was a blast. The beach side is perfect. The beach w it's clear turquoise water is calm, clean, great for shell searching, and there are lounge chairs etc provided if you are a guest. Wifi worked perfectly! But we stayed in the largest suite (#34- sleeps 8) on the inlet side w a 1 minute walk to the beach. Ultra quiet. Central air, dishwasher, private washer/dryer, flat screen tv w cable, modern appliances, furniture, deck w grill & dining for 10. Adjacent to the pool and the dock where we watched cranes fish. Totally will be back. Very economical as well. Venice, is a 5 minute drive w lots of familiar shops etc to load up on provisions. read more

This is right next door to the public beach. Unfortunately, a local drumming circle goes on for hours --first on the beach starting around 5 p.m. and is still going as I write (it's 9:25 p.m.), I guess having moved to the parking lot, making even concentrating on reading a book difficult. Beach style perfect for a weekend retreat. Stayed here for my fiancée's birthday weekend. She lives hunting for sharks teeth on Casey Key, the beach there is just covered with them. It seems to be at least 25 sharks teeth in ever bucket full of sand. The hotel room is almost like a little cottage. There is a patio common area that most of the rooms doors open up to. It feels very jungle like with a lot of plants and other decor. It is located right on the beach. The room was very clean with a kitchenette and decent sized bathroom. The price is right for this quaint little retreat. It is a couple doors down from the public beach. Casey key is not very commercial, so you really feel like you have escaped society when you come to stay here. We love Casey Key and because the price is so right, we will be back here for more stays! read more

Very disappointed. Called specifically to find out if handicap accessible for my daughter and was told yes and also told our room had a queen, twin, and a pullout. Both of those statements were untrue. The beach is not in anyway close to being appropriate for wheelchair bound person or the rooms. We ended up leaving early because it wasn't suitable which I tried to be polite about. And she never offered a refund and a partial refund, she looked like oh well. Just wish they would have been honest and then we could have changed our plans to stay there. read more

Wow!!! what a spectacular get away we had at A BEACH RETREAT. Fun in the sun with a beach, pool and a dock for our boat, what more could we ask for.The staff could'nt be any nicer with taking care of any and all of our needs and requests. We love it here so much that before we leave we'll be locking in some reservations for sure. Speaking of locking we come from a land locked state miles away (Colorado) that coming here is pure relaxation and makes all the difference . The Gulf is a great alternitive to the mountains of Colorado. It's like friends and family we always feel right at home at the Beautiful Beach Retreat. After all the fun is done, the boat goes back in storage, and with some happy goodbye's, a few sandollars later we will be back home looking forward to our next visit to the best of the west coast of FLORIDA A BEACH RETREAT. Basic accommodations with rooms of varying sizes. Nothing fancy here -- no on-site spa or dining or much of anything, really. What there is, though, is a fabulous location right on the beach (or across the street, right on the bay) at a price that can't be beat. This is the only place my family stays when they come visit. read more

We stayed here on our honeymoon and really, it was fabulous. We got a good deal, even though it was summer, on a room with a kitchen. The AC worked great, the TV had a VCR so you could get movies (from their collection - free) to watch. Plus, it's right on the beach in a really quiet area. BE WARNED! If you need help or have a problem here GOOD LUCK! Thisis definitely NOT a "luxury" hotel at all. The phones didn't work, our 1st room was bug infested but we had to drive to the realtor (15-20 minute drive) to have our concern addressed. The general manager was a complete jerk. When the receptionist tried to help us he physically pushed her back and told her to be quiet, then did not answer my questions, and proceeded to help next person in line while I was trying to figure out if we were getting a different room.He was extremely condescending and rude. In the 2nd room, the phones didn't work, the refrigerator was in the middle of the room not in the kitchenette, the blinds on the front door were broken so anyone could see our room 24 hours a day. The outdoor shower also wasn't in working order. There was rust on the shades, rust on the towel bar, marks on the kitchenette counter (bright pink blotches), the refrigerator wasn't in kitchenette area it was sitting along another wall in the room, and the safe didn't work either. As one other person mentioned the walls are paper thin and we heard an argument for two hours through the wall while trying to sleep. The path to the beach was littered with huge pieces of broken beach tents, metal pieces, & not well maintained with overgrown foliage partially blocking your way. Another couple we met had to change rooms at 10pm because their air conditioner didn't work. Good luck finding someone if you have a problem! We were promised a mere $50 credit our account for all the trouble, BUT NEVER RECEIVED THE $50 CREDIT PROMISED! Only reason this place got a star is because it was close to the beach & on a quiet street. Again, far from a luxury hotel but it is close to the beach! read more
