When we arrived and explained the situation, the front desk and management showed little to no compassion and were extremely defensive instead of trying to help us find a solution. We understood the mistake was ours, but the lack of empathy and poor customer service made the situation much worse. We were forced to pay for another room that same night, and the way everything was handled left a terrible impression on our entire family. Unfortunately, this experience has completely discouraged us from staying with this hotel brand again.

All the tables and chairs are very clean. There is no maid service during your stay. Our room and a queen size Murphy' bed, futon, recliner, side chair, & dining table with four chairs. The kitchen was stocked with pots and pans, silverware, toaster, crockpot, soaps, & sponge. The kitchen has a microwave, oven, stove and fridge. The staff is very friendly. There is free parking. You can rent a stand up paddle board from the hotel for $25/day. This hotel is casual and very clean. The staff keeps it in great condition. I would not hesitate staying here again.

It is at the quiet end of the beach, the room was great, it was quiet and the other guests were friends. There are two good places to eat close by. I look forward to returning.

An excellent beachfront getaway…read more On The Beach is literally on the beach. The small cottage-style rooms are within 200 feet of the ocean, but secluded behind palm trees, so neighboring properties do not distract. The rooms themselves are very clean and modern. Simple, but just right. Every room has a fridge, microwave and "kitchen" sink, so it's accommodating for an extended stay. Just note that the fridge is small, so groceries will need to be limited. The bed was very comfortable with tons of pillows. The walk-in shower looked like it was brand new. Plenty of hot water and water pressure to clean off after a day on the beach. To get to the beach, you walk down a short trail that's surrounded by bushes and flowers. The sand is a mixture of white sand and shells. Lounge chairs are provided, in addition to beach towels. If you want a larger, busier beach, take a short walk south and you'll end up at Nokomis Beach. Walk north and you can go for miles without seeing many people at all. That is also a great route if you are looking to collect shells. After your beach day is over, there is a small outdoor shower by the property to rinse off. Each room also has a couple of chairs outside, so you can air dry, if you prefer, before going back inside. The staff (housekeeping and management) have relatively short hours, so you may need to contact the parent property (Bentley Boutique Hotel) to check-in, or if you need other assistance outside of 10:30-5. In terms of a value, find a deal through a 3rd party booker or take advantage of an On The Beach special - either way, I doubt you will be able to find a better beach stay for such an affordable price. The area itself is relatively quiet, but there are a few restaurants within 5-10 minutes. If you need heavier shopping, head north about 20 minutes to hit the city area. Siesta Key is also just over 30 minutes away, depending on traffic. I highly recommend On The Beach and I'll be back the next time I want a beach getaway!

The owner Tekla welcomed us as we exited our vehicle. We felt like we were staying in a friends home rather than a hotel. It was impeccably clean and decorated, we stayed in the Big House and it is remodeled and has everything you need for your stay. This family-run business has three different properties on both sides of Casey Key Road. Our unit in the Old Florida section was steps to the beach on the Gulf and our friends' unit was in the Dockside Villas on the Intercoastal Inlet. There is also a New section a few door down on the beach. The units are perfectly appointed in every detail. Some examples of the details include small flashlights on the key rings, lights over the barbecue grill and recycle/trash barrels, handmade soap at the sinks and every kitchen tool we might need. Our Old Florida unit is the smallest, a studio with a kitchen yet it had a beautifully painted mural on the length of the unit, a couch and a very cool honeymoon table for two (the chairs nestled in under the table to save space). Every convenience was provided in the kitchen and the bathroom sink had a grass skirt! The owners are delightful and very knowledgeable about the local restaurants and sights. Their office has a small gift nook with items made by local crafts people.

The rooms were extremely clean, well the whole property is. Along the road around this hotel is some nice little row of motels but this place is more like little private bungalows. They have a little path to the beach which you could borrow a wagon and haul your stuff for the day. We were on the marina side so we got to watch the boat launch follies and enjoyed watching the fishermen come and go. Enjoyed the location close to a couple of reastaraunts right on the water and rented a pontoon boat and enjoyed a day on the water. Fabulous hideaway!
