I wish I could say good things about this company, however, my experience was not at all like others who have written reviews. I contacted A+ through yelp and got an immediate response requesting address, description of work and a request to send pictures....all of which I did the same day. Almost a week later I had to write back asking about the estimate and I was told Sergio would be by within 10 minutes to look at the job. I was told to expect the estimate in the next few days. Another week went by and I wrote again asking about the quote. Got a response saying it was being checked on.....and here we are several weeks later........and nothing. Very disappointed! I hired this company to replace the board on my deck, after I was assured the HOA approval was not required. I paid the required 50% down payment and scheduled the date for the project to be done. I emailed the HOA to be sure, and was told i needed to submit an application for approval. To make the long story short, it was not reviewed in time and had to wait for another month to be reviewed. Since I was not able to wait for that long to list my house for sale, I canceled the project, informed Ana and was told she will refund my money. Despite the mostly positive reviews left here, I can't recommend A+ Best Services or its owner, Ana, for its/her dishonest and strange business practices. I reached out via Yelp, requesting a quote to my have front porch railing repaired. Ana responded remarkably fast (that much is true and in line with the other comments) and the quote she offered, very reasonable. So we scheduled an appointment. When she arrived and looked at the railing, she informed me that the job would require more than she originally thought. In fact, she recommended replacing the railing altogether. She took a few measurements and said she would get back to me by Saturday with an updated quote. This was Thursday. Saturday came and went, and I didn't hear from Ana. On Monday, I reached out via Yelp. Ana responded, "I will send all specifications by tomorrow morning". I thanked her and waited. Tuesday came and went. No word from Ana. On Wednesday, I called. Ana picked up. When I asked her about the updated quote, she responded that she would have a price for the new railing by that afternoon. The afternoon came and went. Again, no word from Ana. Today I called - one last chance - and shockingly, Ana did not respond. I left her a voice message. She never called back. It's been over a week since the initial visit. A note to Ana: as the owner of a business that relies on Yelp reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations, be mindful of how you treat potential customers. If you are unable to deliver a service, the courteous and professional thing to do is to let the customer know. Being dishonest about your availability and then avoiding the customer is nothing short of unprofessional and immature. read more

I do NOT recommend A+ Best Services. The quality of the work is low with no attention to detail. They do not stand behind their work and only make excuses. I have many years of experience as a handyman so I know what a refinished deck should look like. Keep in mind when looking at the photos, this was to be Semi-transparent stain. NOT SOLID COLOR paint/stain. Here is a quick list of the issues, continue below for the full story. * Stain was applied too thick and left a sticky partially dried coat on the deck surface * Stain was applied inconsistently leaving obvious lines & marks where the brush strokes/spray lines started/stopped. Plus dark & light areas, the blotches you see in the photos are not from sun/shadows, that is the difference in color from one area to the next * Sanding of the deck surface was barely done leaving tons of splinters and chipping wood * My garden hose was thrown from the deck onto a small Azalea bush & left crushing the limbs * The new pieces of wood they cut for the railings were left with jagged unfinished edges * The 2 fence boards they cut were crooked & sloppy * Ana came back to look at the issues & offered no help, instead she only made excuses & claimed the deck was fine Instead of 2-3 light coats, the stain was applied in one very thick coat that couldn't absorb into the wood, creating a sticky layer of partially dried stain. The staining looks rushed & uneven with visible lines from the brush/spray strokes with a clear divide where one stroke stops & another begins. When I questioned Ana about this, she said the stain was fine & it would dry soon (it had already been 7 days & after 3 weeks it was still sticky until I sanded it myself). She claimed the lines and inconsistencies were due to the old wood's absorption of the stain & claimed it was supposed to look like that. Even after I pointed out the clear straight lines from the spray gun she maintained her excuses. When I told her I have experience doing decks & I know that isn't true, she mocked me & implied I was lying. My deck is about 450 sf, on the itemized invoice was a charge of $250 for 2 hours of sanding. Based on this cost I assumed this would be 2 hour use of a professional deck sanding machine. That would be plenty of time to have the entire surface sanded soft & smooth.... Well I should have clarified that, because what I received was one man with a handheld orbital sander, randomly sanding small areas for 2 hours. When I questioned this, Ana said, the invoice says 2 hours of sanding and that is what I received & that they do not sand to remove splinters but only to "prep for stain", even though she knows I originally asked for the sanding specifically to remove the splinters. She also claimed the professional machine doesn't work on decks & can't go over nails.... When I told her I have used it myself in the past and I know it works, she again mocked me and implied I was lying. Well, I rented it from Home Depot a few weeks later and sent the videos to Ana showing the machine gliding right over the nails and smoothing away all the splinters, she never responded. They had to remove my garden hose, but instead of laying it on the ground, they threw it from the deck onto one of my azalea bushes, then didn't even bother to move it and left it there crushing the delicate branches. They cut 2 new railing top boards and cut it with a rough blade and didn't sand the cut edge, they just left the jagged splinters sticking out right where you would grab the railing. When I pointed this out to Ana she laughed in my face as if that was an absurd detail for me to even notice. I have to give them credit in two areas, I was happy with the power washing and the men who did the work were very friendly/polite. Before they left, I even gave them a cash tip because they were nice and from a distance the work looked good. But the deck was still wet and I could not walk on it for a few days... that's when I started to see the issues. I waited a few extra days before contacting Ana to see if the stickiness would go away. I also ordered a can of the exact stain they used and hand sanded and stained 2 of the boards myself to see if I could get them to look the way I excepted. They came out smooth with a consistent semi-transparent coloring and no faded patches, so any excuses from Ana about the old wood not absorbing or the sanding not getting rid of the splinters was BS. The cost of the project was $1559. After discovering all of the issues and explaining to Ana that I would have to redo the entire project myself, buy new stain, and rent the sanding machine, I felt a 50% refund ($779) was fair. Of course Ana refused. After Ana coming out to see the issues in person, I requested ha refund of only $684 (43.8%) - for the invoice item "Deck Restoration". Ana said she would get back to me and now a month later I still have not heard back. I tried to follow up but she does not respond. read more

I used Yelp's messaging interface to communicate with Ana to get an estimate, arrange for her to stop by and take measurements. She answered all of my questions about what was covered and not covered in my cleaning. Sergio came by early and also moved furniture out of the way in order to clean our back deck. He put everything back in its place. He invited me to walk around and review his work. Everything looked good. However it was a bit difficult to check on the front entryway steps because the floor was still wet. There were some minor dirt that appeared after everything dried up but I did not bother to follow up because most of the house was done well. Ana sent me an invoice over email and I was able to pay for it very easily. read more
