About three years ago, my husband and I took on our first major home project: Backyard Renovation. We wanted a clean but cozy look with pavers and wooden fence. Little did we know that even after the initial staining/sealing, our wooden fence would naturally collect dust and discolor over time and eventually would require a major cleaning and restoration. My husband thought about power washing it himself, and so he borrowed our in-law's power washer and took a stab at it. I give him a lot of credit for trying, but those attempts were not successful.  After much deliberation, I reached out to several Pressure Washing companies found on Yelp (approx. 6). United Power Washing was one of the very first companies to immediately respond back to me. I chose them because (a) while others asked for photos/additional details of the backyard, Mark and Dan came to see the backyard/fence in-person, and (b) they were very knowledgeable and professional and even recommended me a stain color that would blend in well with the look and feel of our backyard. Mark gave me a verbal estimate during his visit to power wash and re-stain/seal the fence & the porch as well as clean the pavers. The next day, I agreed to his final quote via email, and we settled on the following Saturday and Sunday to perform the work (a 2-day job). Day 1 for power washing/cleaning. Day 2 for staining/sealing. Let me just say, I had no idea how much work would go into power washing/sealing a fence. They worked tirelessly both days for several hours without a break! I'm thankful for Mark and Dan in taking the time to work carefully around our soft, cedar wooden fence as cedars can damage easily if handled haphazardly. My husband and I agree that it's not job that he alone could've done. We would've just tossed in the towel and said forget it an hour into doing it ourselves.  I'm super happy with how our fence/porch turned out! It has a new "glow" to it! And now that the weather is slightly cooler, we'll be taking advantage of the backyard more with family and friends - hosting outdoor gatherings, etc. I would HIGHLY recommend United Power Washing to anyone (especially DC homeowners) looking for an amazing back patio/fence restoration. I say this because there are a lot of VA/MD contractors who dread and complain about taking a job in DC due to city traffic and parking issues. But Mark and Dan are not like them! I had a great experience with United Power Washing taking care of power washing the siding of my house, my back deck, and cleaning my gutters. Mark was super responsive via the Request-A-Quote function here on Yelp, sent me tons of before/after photos of the job (which you can see here on Yelp), and his quote was competitive and fair. My gutters were in even worse shape than I thought (definitely had no idea there was an entire garden growing in there, yikes!) but he and his team worked quickly and efficiently to clear everything up for us. The side of the house was NASTY with green crap and dirt all over it and it looks AMAZING considering the siding is definitely 20+ years old in a wooded lot. The rest of the house's general dirtiness on the siding was wiped away and the white color is visibly brighter. I too found them like you looking for the best and the most affordable power washing service for our house, and I am so pleased with the results. As you can see in the before picture, our house was pretty gross after the yard work was done and needed that face lift. If you are looking for a place to only do part of the job, and not respond to your calls related to the status of the work, look no further. Mark initially seemed like a like a trustworthy businessman. However, he has shown to be unprofessional by not responding or completing the work at hand. I have never delt with such a unreliable contractor. I strongly advise anyone looking for this type of service to look elsewhere. To reply to Marks comment below since this is the first time hearing back in a week, thank you for finally responding and confirming you are not doing the deck. This business is built on dishonesty, and Mark lacks the ability to satisfy and communicate with the customer. Mark had indicated that I had "yelled" at him, which could not be a farther stretch from the truth, as he did not have the decency to reply to my calls. Instead, he had simply ignored my calls and messages until making this post. Additionally, the job was scheduled for completion the prior week, and I had provided the contractor with a deposit at that time upon his request to cover the cost of the materials that he claimed he picked up that day (ie, stain and etc.). It became news to me that he had not yet purchased materials the following morning when Mark had failed to show back up to complete the job after promising to get there first thing in the morning. The deposit was for the full scope of the work, to include the deck. Mark made the call to only do part of the job and leave me hanging as you can see. He responded immediately with his quote and also shared some very helpful advice about the best way to safely clean the brick and mortar in our chimney should we decide to go with someone else.
