Made an appointment on Thursday for Saturday because there were no appointment available for Friday. Got on waiting list because I've had a huge knot in my shoulder causing a lot of pain. Called on Friday to confirm appointment since the young lady first booked an hour appointment and wanted a 90 minute. The young lady confirmed my 2:09PM appt for 90 minutes. Today I called on my way due to traffic on I-75 and would arrive a few minutes after 2PM. To my surprise the man on the phone told me I didn't have an appointment!!! I explained the calls I made and when yet he told me I should have known I didn't have an appointment if I didn't receive a text message. What??? If you have a point of comparison, you may find "A Better You" merely average. On the plus side, the staff is by-and-large friendly, and Erin is a competent manager who aims to please. My daughter and I ended the day feeling relaxed -- which may be the bottom line -- but the experience itself wasn't knock-your-socks-off wonderful. My facial was basically a series of applications -- serums, masks, tonics -- with no extractions. (The facialist I've seen at home, finds plenty to extract!) My daughter on the other hand, had some blackheads removed. The body glow was a total waste of time and money. (Again, my spa in Marietta has a special water bed devoted to this, and you walk out feeling refreshed and tingly.) Here, the massage therapist rubbed a sugar solution on my back, wiped it off with a warm cloth .... and that was pretty much it. The day spas that I go to give patrons a robe and a drape (for the facial), plus a locker with key. Erin said that because of the structure of our day, they didn't do that. (My daughter and I each had four services.) My favorite spa at home offers serene sitting rooms with fruit, cheese, crackers and reading matter. The sitting rooms here are simply low-lit holding rooms, with strangers sitting awkwardly across from each other, pulling out phones to avoid eye contact. A plus, for those who live in Chattanooga, are the last minute discount deals. But for visitors planning a special spa outing, this place may leave you disappointed. Something also a bit odd: I asked one of the practitioners who the owner of "A Better You Spa" is. She replied, "I'm not allowed to tell you. The owner doesn't want anyone to know who she is." Had a scheduled appointment. I arrived about 10 minutes before my appointment time and was escorted to the waiting area. It's a nice room. Laid back and relaxing area while you wait. Well... The lady I was supposed to see was running late, but I was not informed at all. I just sat in the waiting area for about 30 minutes when she came and got me. I'm not sure why the receptionist couldn't give me a heads up and let me know she was running late. Because she was running behind schedule, she didn't really try to get personal or anything, which is a real bummer. I hate going to a spa and feeling rushed because THEY are behind. This was my second time at this spa/salon. After this second experience I don't know if I'm inclined to go back for a third visit. If the receptionist did her job and informed me the lady was behind and if the lady I saw took more time be personable, despite her running behind, I may have given this review another star. read more

So I have been going to a A Better you for a very long time and a regular client who books every 2 weeks mostly. So I was there March 11th for my massage and I was rebooking of course and the receptionist told me she did not any availability for Friday but did Saturday so I booked of course. So I get a phone call from them today about 15 mins ago and they are telling me that I had to pay more for Saturday due to when rebooking is only through Tues-Fri. Not once have I ever been told that ever and like I said I'm a very faithful client and for me to keep my appt for Saturday I would be charged a extra $30! What the crap! Not only did I make me a appt my friend made one too very same time. The manager said well that's our policy and I said ok I get it but that's not my mistake that's your scheduler who made my appt not once did she tell me it was going to be a $30 extra charge because I wanted it made clear that is was the same price as today and the scheduler said yes same price! So after speaking to the manager she refused to keep the price as they promised not my fault on my end it's their FAULT! She tried to schedule me on a Wed excuse me no I work Mon-Thurs so that's why my appts are made for Fridays. I asked the manager is she really going to lose 2 clients because of their mistake? And she kept saying I can make you another appt! No! That's why I made it Sat because "THEIR SCHEDULER FAILED TO LET ME KNOW AND I EVEN ASKED HER SAME PRICE AND SHE SAID YES! So needless to say I'm highly pissed they wouldn't keep their promise and keep my appt for the price I was for promised and it's their mistake not mine! So not only did I cancel so did my friend! I have referred a lot of people to them because they are good and always Nice and polite and making appts easy to schedule! NOW I WILL LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT THEY DONT KEEP THEIR PROMISE AND CHARGE THE CLIENTS MORE BECAUSE IF THEIR MISTAKE! So FYI DONT GO TO A BETTER YOU!! I've visited this spa on a few occasions - only for massages ( I haven't tried their other services yet). Each time I've had a pleasant experience (from the woman at the front desk to my masseuse - friendly and patient and just overall lovely) My most recent massage was with Sheila for a 50 minute Swedish massage. She was AMAZING. I can not wait to go back again :) A few other notes: Location - Somewhat hard to find. Tucked away off of the main road behind a few buildings. Gift Cards and discounts - This I do not get. It just seems bad business practice to have promotions void of using gift cards. My family has owned a business for 40 years and we treat gift cards or merchandise credit like cash or any other form of payment. I had scheduled a pre-natal massage on a Thursday for the following day, Friday. When I show up for my appointment they can't find me in the system. Well that's because they had scheduled me for Saturday which I know I did not agree to as I was leaving town that day. All the guy at the desk simply said was they were booked that day so "sorry". No offer to give me a discount for another massage for another day, no attempt to re-book my appointment. Just "sorry". Well that's unacceptable when I had left work early for this appointment and driven across town. Went in this evening to get my first pedicure from them and was told by the nail tech that she couldn't do my pedicure due to one of my toes being dis colored and when I explained to her it's from dropping plates/weights on the from my work out and agreed they look bruised but may be a form of toe fungus. Asked is she ever worked out (Clearly no) and didn't seem very professional on being a Nail person and if I had issues with my toes I'm pretty sure I would be aware and so would my doctor but what was upsetting is how I was treated and their lack of information on informing customers especially being their first time so thanks to her she will never her my business or any of my friends business because I would never recommend them or their place. read more

Just got a massage from Deanna...she is great! Very relaxing. She spent plenty of time on my problem spot, but not to the point of making me sore. The facility was nice. Great, lovely piano music (not that new age weird spa type music). The sound of water bubbling was ok, but glad I went to the ladies just prior)! I was running late due to traffic, and the sweet young lady who works the front desk (I'm sorry I didn't get her name) was very understanding and helped me get straight in for my appointment. Got a great hair cut and style today! The stylist was very personable and fun! as well. She gave me lots of good tips no other hairstylist has given me before. I have to thank this spa for the wonderful first time experience with a massage that I had this past week. Never had a massage before and when I called, the young lady on the phone was so sweet, talking to me like she had known me for a long time. I told her how nervous I was and she assured me that I would love the massage and boy was she right. I am for sure hooked now. The whole place is just wonderful, everyone is so nice and really makes you feel welcome. And I just can't say enough good things about the service. I don't recall the young ladys name, but she had blond hair and just did an amazing job. My job requires sitting at a desk all day at the computer, slumped over in that not so great for your back position. However we were a little disappointed that we did not receive a robe, and locker to place our items in while we received our 1/2 day of services...we have received this at other spas along with a private waiting area but here we had to pay for private waiting room. First off I chose this particular spa because it was a finalist in the Best of the Best Chattanooga 2015.I had a very relaxing facial with Debbie. I feel like she did a good job, but it wasn't like other facials that I have had in the past. I will say that my face was cleansed with some very good smelling products. Unfortunately when I got home I could still see concealer under my eyes. I got a customized facial done so I did discuss with my esthetician my facial concerns before we started. I am someone who has extremely oily skin and sometimes acne prone. I dont really feel like that was the facial I needed since it didn't come with extractions of sebum around the nose and chin area.I did have the mircoderm done to help decrease pore size, I don't think it reduced them any but it was very pleasant. For my next facial I think I will try somewhere different just to get a feel of what's offered in this area. I won't count this place out though because I am a firm believer in second chances so I hope this critique helps them out. read more

Let me start by saying I have been to four different spas around the Chattanooga area and this was by far the worst spa experience I have ever had! I planned a Spa Day for a bachelorette party on February 18th. I contacted A Better You in October to begin planning this day. There were 7 ladies wanting a variety of services. I specifically picked A Better You because they had great reviews online and they claimed to cater to groups! What more could I ask for, right? Wrong! I called Tiffany at the shop and she helped me reserve the room and schedule the individual services for all the ladies. She scheduled us so that we would all be finished ASAP and then unable to hang out as a group in the "group room" because we had to leave as soon as the services are finished. What is the point of the group room if the group is never in there. And on top of that I had to pay an extra $45 to reserve the room. I asked to not have the group then since we wouldn't be in there to enjoy each others company, but I was told I had to have the group room. I should have started looking for a new spa after this first hiccup. But, then a week or two later, Tiffany calls me back to inform that the day I have booked the group Spa Day, is a "black out day" and we wont be able to use that room and we will just have to sit in the lobby in the morning and in between services. I think, "Ok, no big deal, that is what I had asked to do in the first place." Months go by and the day of the bachelorette party arrives. We are taken into the spa waiting room (which online is advertised as the Group Room) to fill out our paperwork. I filled out the paperwork and selected the size robe and shoes that was listed on the paper. Then at 9:00 AM, my masseuse comes to get me and takes me to the room. I was not provided a robe or sandals. I undressed and got under the sheets on the bed only to find they were rough and not spa quality at all. When the therapists returned to being the service, I had to ask him to turn on a space heater in the room because it was so cold! His hands were cold during the massage and it was nothing to brag about. The ABU Signature Massage came with hand scrub, which I received, but the warm towels were from a crock pot which I found inappropriate spa equipment. That service ended and I was taken back to the waiting room until my next service. While there, I talk with another lady from the group who received the same service I did except she was not given the hand scrub. Therefore, inconsistency in what is to be provided for each service. My next service was a 30 minute facial, which according the schedule Tiffany had emailed to me months prior, was to start at 10:15, but I was taken back at 9:45. This was the most rushed facial I had ever received and my 30 minute facial only lasted 20 minutes! On top of all that, the oils and lotions the therapists used had absolutely no scent! What spa doesn't have eucalyptus or lavender scents? The therapists were nice enough but I have never felt so rushed through a service or out of spa in all my life. Needless to say, you could have a better spa experience at home and if you are thinking of having a group day here at A Better You, you better find a different spa! read more

This location has horrible customer service. First of all, my husband and I arrive to do a couples massage and the appointment was cancelled without my knowledge. They ask to put a credit card on file to secure the appointment but we don't feel comfortable doing that with all the credit card scams going around. The offered to compensate with a discounted massage and free wine and strawberries...but still required a credit card number on file. We took the day off together to get this done as a Valentine's gift to us...however this Spa ruined the entire day for us. read more

This past Mother's Day my three wonderful children saved their hard earned money and decided to purchase me a $50.00 gift card for A Better You Day Spa located in Chatanooga TN. They were so excited when presenting me this gift with the notion that I would get some much deserved pampering. I thought this was such a great gift and was impressed with the notion that my children had gifted me with something so thoughtful. My children paid cash for the $50.00 gift card. After looking forward to being pampered a bit for three weeks, I called A Better You Day Spa and booked an appointment. They were offering an internet special on Facebook and I mentioned this when booking my appointment. Approximatly one hour before my appointment the manager from A Better You Day Spa called be back and told me that I could not use my gift card with any spa specials. I was dumfounded to say the least because I have never heard of any buisness or company treating a gift card as anything other than cash. If I were to pay for the spa special with cash, check, or credit card that would have been fine. However to my dismay the gift card that my children paid cash for was not considered money according to the manager. Needless to say I was upset and tried to explain my posistion to the manger on the phone that the only difference in me paying with cash for my spa services and paying with a gift card is that for three weeks the spa was earning interest on my children's money. The offer posted on Facebook did not note any restrictions, nor were there any restrictions noted on my gift card. The manager refused to make it right and I canceled my appointment. I have attemepted to call and speak to the owner of A Better You Day Spa but according to the ladies that answer the telephone they do not know who the manager or owner is. I have left multiple messages for the managment and they refuse to return my phone calls. I have been left angry and stressed by this whole situation, not exactly the way you should feel about a SPA! read more

My boss surprised me with an afternoon of pampering at A Better You. It was such a relaxing day. I started off with an ABU signature facial. They have their own skin care line called Elocin which I absolutely love. The Citrus Enzyme Cleanser made my face look so fresh and radiant. The Orange Green Tea Microderm scrub is very fine and it gently but effectively buffed away the congestion in my skin. I couldn't believe how smooth my skin felt. I wasn't even concerned that I went to the store afterwards without any makeup because my skin looked so good! All the products feel and smell wonderful. I was able to purchase a starter kit so I could keep my radiant look. I truly believe this is the best skin care I have ever used from store brand, department store, Informerical products etc. Next I had a body scrub and massage. I about fell asleep on the table and my skin felt so silky afterwards. Then I finished my spa day with a spa pedicure. All the girls were so nice and friendly.
