Awesome place. Sammie is a super talented massage therapist. She's thoughtful, professional, and strategic in how she approaches the healing process. And she's incredibly strong for her size - probably the best deep-tissue massage I've ever gotten. Everyone else there is very nice and helpful, as you'd expect from Lookout Mountain. Highly recommend. The low-star reviews here seem to be focused on misunderstandings during the booking process. "It's a no from me." Grab a snack- this is going to be a long review. Mountain Escape Spa seemed like the perfect place to spend a bachelorette spa day with my bridesmaids. My Maid of Honor planned a special day full of facials, lunch and massages. What could possibly go wrong? Let me start by explaining this event was booked weeks in advance. We were initially told that due to staffing issues we would not be able to have a manicure / pedicure included in the package, but that we could still receive facials, lunch and massages. Life is stressful so this sounded like the perfect day of relaxation. We were instructed that we would be receiving forms to fill out prior to the day. Our first clue that something was amiss was that the forms were never emailed. A lot of us work in healthcare and are empathetic to staffing issues so this didn't seem like a huge red flag at first. A day before our booking, my MOH kept calling the spa, to clarify about the forms, but was unable to reach an employee. Again, short staffed- we understood. Dooms Day. We arrived to the facility early and stood outside catching up. It was probably 10 minutes after our scheduled time that we realized something was wrong. No one was there. The lights were out, door locked and curiously the adhesive with operating times had been scrapped off the door. (FYI, they do make adhesive removal so maybe clean your door next time). We tried to pull up the website and it said, "can't open webpage because the server can't be found." At this point reality was setting in, they had closed and didn't notify their customers. We went down to a local market and an employee told us that the Mountain Escape Spa had closed down that week because all of their employees had quit. Unprofessional really isn't even the proper word for this type of behavior. I don't know the events that transpired that led to a swift closing, but I do know what didn't transpire... and that was consideration for paying customers. This is not how to conduct business, but I don't I need to tell anyone that. Save yourself time and avoid this place at all costs. We ended up regrouping over delicious coffee at Canopy Coffee and found our escape from the mountain escape spa full of empty promises and distasteful business practices. And if you want a respectable business, check out Ama Spa near The Edwin Hotel. They were kind enough to get us all scheduled for facials and help turn the day around. read more

Don't book here! A month ago made a reservation for four spa packages for a fun relaxing bachelorette day. Tried calling to confirm earlier in the week but no one answered. Assumed it was due to being short staffed (spa mentioned when made reservation). Showed up to the spa to see a closed sign on the door. Finally learned from a neighboring business - that all the employees quit earlier in the week so the owner decided to go on a vacation. Understand things happen - but call and let reservations know. Super unprofessional and frustrating. Their website was working on Thursday and when tried to pull it up on Friday, day of reservation, saw it no longer existed. We learned from another spa this has happened 5x over the last 25 years. Not worth the business if can't properly manage your people and no care for customer service. read more

As a Licensed Massage Therapist I was an independent contractor there. I was told to write a review from a very young girl at the front desk. The girl also complained to a bridal spa package and called a lady on Yelp a b****. Until they get it together I would highly not recommend going. Your facial might be canceled. There is only 1 Massage Therapist now so no couples massages. They do not have anything for body wraps. No one to do manicures or pedicures. read more

I booked a nice spa treatment for my mother in law for a Christmas gift. After I called the Spa to confirm the appointment they told me I had said I was no longer interested in the spa over the phone the day before. I went ahead and scheduled the appointment, approximately two weeks ahead of the date chosen, thinking this was just a mistake. After my mother in law arrived at the appointment they proceeded to claim that I did not make an appointment and there was no appointment made on her behalf and refused to fit her in any where after having bickered with the workers. They claimed since I did not remember of the name of the person I booked with that there was no appointment in place. The level of audacity they had to claim I never made an appointment after having to reconfirm the appointment because of a mistake they made, not once but twice, was insanely unprofessional and do not have the communication skills to be considered a "professional spa." The only reason I gave them one star is because that's the lowest I can give them. They have extremely poor customer service and should not even be on your list of spas to consider! 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND WASTING YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!!! read more

Absolutely the best experience my wife and I have had. We went there as pet of a birthday package for my wife. The staff were all completely courteous professionals. The massages were amazing and the facial, nail work and reflexology were top notch. Kelsey, Lisa, Brittany were all so amazing. Came here for a massage to relax and have a girls day with a friend. The massage itself was good, the MT did a great job as far as asking about pressure use and any special concerns or issues I wanted her to work on. I was so nice she did the hot towels on my feet and back, it added a nice touch. I only gave 3 stars because as far as the spa itself, it seemed a tad disorganized & not the best set up. Not sure what happened with their scheduling but they were 40 minutes late for our appointments, there was nowhere to just sit and relax while we waited (we did browse the many gift shop items for sale), no one offered us water or tea or anything while we waited, no real explanation of what the problem was other than my therapist saying "sorry, there was a mix up". No water offered on the way out (never had that happen at a spa although it appears due to the "mix up" we were holding up people from going home). Anyway, nice folks & some nice gift items available, but this seems like it's more geared to people who live in the area and are just stopping in & then running back home. For the price though, you get more at one of the other spas in the valley. read more

My partner and I were in town for our anniversary. We wanted to do something special together, and we decided to try out a couple's massage. The brochure for Mountain Escape Spa was located in the room of our B & B, so we gave them a call. They offer a wide range a of services, but we opted for the basic 60 minute couple's massage. It was the first time that either of us had experienced a full body massage so we were both a little nervous. My partner was down right skeptical of having it done at all. Cindy and Sheila put us both at ease right away, and they were the consummate professionals. The couple's suite was beautiful and serene with ambient candle light. We could communicate and see each other without disturbing the effect of our individual experiences. My massage therapist was Sheila, and she did a wonderful job. She communicated with me just enough so that she knew what I wanted without disrupting my relaxation. I was thoroughly pleased with my massage and felt amazing. My partner who is generally very reserved (and a little uptight ;-)) could not say enough positive things about the massage she received from Cindy. She almost fell asleep because she was so relaxed!
