We recently purchased a home in Fullerton and needed window treatments. We vetted around 5-6…read morecompanies that had near 5 star reviews on Yelp. We wanted to do 8 plantation shutters (living room huge window, family room window, 4 bedrooms with multiple windows and 4 solar shades (bathroom, kitchen window, pantry window). What we learned in the process is that price range can vary quite a bit. You can get good quality basswood shutters or vinyl for $4000-$5000 range which is cheap for a whole house. These are the companies that assemble in-house and they seem like great folks and have great results so if doing shutters on a budget I recommend that route. But the issue for us was we wanted the invisible tilt mechanism by Norman shutters. If you look around the classic tilt mechanism is either old fashion tilt rod or the tilt system in the rear but the mechanism is visible. We wanted a very clean look and for that you need a shutter that has the mechanism hidden inside the frame of the shutter with no visible pieces external. This lead us to the Norman shutters and their Woodlore line. The other issue is we have a big window in our living room and so many companies wanted to split things up to distribute the weight so it would not sag over time. But the splitting took away from the aesthetics and the design we wanted which was to follow the innate design of the window. This lead us to the Woodlore Plus line (much lighter than regular Woodlore). The only guy who could do all this at a reasonable price was Rick at Budget Blinds. He has the experience to deal with difficult windows (our master bedroom) and our big living room window (with our design tastes). Rick is just a straight up dude and super kind and very personable. He takes his time at the initial consultation. Really easy to work with and talk to. His price was great compared to other companies that offered the Woodlore and their proprietary invisible tilt mechanism. When you are bringing people into your home it's exhausting and inconvenient so you want to work with someone that feels like a friend and that is Rick. We enjoyed his company and working with him. We've already referred him to another family member who are getting our exact shutters for 3 of their windows. I highly recommended getting at least a quote from him and comparing. He won't be the cheapest but you have to compare apples to apples and his Norman shutters are superior imho. I wanted quality that would last. His installer Michael is also amazing. I have to give Michael a shout out. He's a perfectionist. He's so respectful of your home. We have an Asian home and he noticed we didn't wear shoes in the house and he took his shoes off and on every time which was hard because he'd be carrying shutters in from his workspace in the driveway and constantly taking his shoes off and on. He also was so careful around the house not to bang into walls, stairs etc. his work and craftsmanship is next level. We adored Michael and wished every contractor/subcontractor had his work ethic and personality. A very gentle and kind soul. I've attached a picture of the living room window. It tilts in 3 places - the upper/middle/bottom. It allows for whatever combination we want. We used 4.5" louvers here and 3.5" in rest of the house.

Brett promised the world during the sales process, but once the contract was signed, the follow-through completely disappeared. After that, everything was handed off to Casey and communication went downhill fast. Weekend availability is terrible. I purchased the shutters in November, and installation didn't happen until months later. Brett measured my windows twice, then a younger employee came out and measured again. When the third-party installers finally showed up, they had the wrong measurements. How does that even happen after three separate visits? On top of that, Casey was extremely rude and condescending. She also kept my credit card on file without my permission, which is completely unacceptable. The level of unprofessionalism throughout this entire process was through the roof. Also, the first photo shown on this so-called business profile (the one with the curtains) apparently doesn't even belong to them...or at least that's the impression I got when I asked Brett about it. After all the inconvenience, delays, and frustration, I honestly expected some type of discount or acknowledgment of the issues. Unfortunately, that never happened. Very disappointing experience.
