My first step when hiring a company for a major project is always to read reviews. We received quotes from two different companies, and when this company came out, the representative explained that they have been serving Port St. Lucie for a long time and that the business is still independently owned rather than being sold to a larger corporation. That's something I really appreciate because it's becoming harder and harder to find locally owned companies these days. The only frustrating part of the process was getting an updated quote. We had waited too long, and the original estimate had expired. My husband called the office several times, and each time they had to take down all of his information again because it apparently had never been entered into the system. That seemed a bit unusual, as I would expect everyone to have access to the same customer information. After discussing our options with the salesman, we decided to move forward. The installation was scheduled just a few days later. We had both the inside and outside units replaced. The crew arrived around 9:00 a.m. and finished shortly after 2:00 p.m. One of the heater components that was delivered was incorrect, but we were informed that the technician would return with the correct part. The installers were friendly, professional, and seemed very knowledgeable. I chatted with them a few times throughout the day, and they worked efficiently to get everything completed. The installation also included a new thermostat, with the cost. Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that our electric bill will drop significantly. Our old system seemed to run nonstop, and I'm hoping this new, more efficient unit will make a noticeable difference. With the energy savings, I'm optimistic that the investment will pay for itself within a few years. read more

Our A/C stopped cooling. Was making awful sounds outside, no cool air inside. I had 4 other companies come by to diagnose the problem and give me quotes. All of them determined there is a huge leak in my evap coil, and I would need to get an entire new system for thousands of dollars. A/C Doctors was the only one to realise there was something else amiss, and to take the time and properly diagnose the issue. Turns out it was a plugged up valve. I have been having issues with cooling a new construction home and after sending a request for an appointment (via Yelp naturally) David initially emailed me for more info. After a few rounds of email, he called me the following morning and we talked through the problem. within minutes, he was able to correctly understand the problem, offer me some easy low-cost solutions first, and then other pricier options, should I wish to go there. Out of pocket cost: $ 0 His assumption seemed to be correct, and I can do some self-help changes to thermostat and remote sensors that should fix the problem. There was no hard sales pressure, just an a honest assessment of the situation and a gratis recommendation. I haven't seen that kind of customer service in years, and it was extremely generous on his part to work it out over the phone instead of charging for a service call. The owner came to My house like a month ago mind you they have been to my house numerous times for different problems. My complaint was my AC wasn't cooling the house properly . He was very rude and in a rush and seem like he didn't want to be bothered he charged me 250 Just to clean my drain line. They also canceled on me early that morning and never showed up with no phone call no show I took a day off of my job just to accommodate them and let them in and got no courteous phone call at all i Had to Called there office and they reschedule for the next day, I will never call or deal with them ever again my AC stopped working two days after he showed. read more

Fan on my a/c unit wasn't running. A/C Doctors came on time and fixed the problem. Problem was the fan was turned off by someone other than me. The technicians showed me what happened and switched it back on. Easy fix but some other company would have pretended they installed a part or something to upcharge me. Since I had to pay the service charge, the technician did a few things to balance the fan so it makes less noise. Then he checked to see if anything else needed maintenance and showed me a part which might need attention in the future. No extra charge. He was very pleasant and respectful. Well I must say I'm very happy and impressed and I hope the owner reads my comment. I got home from work after putting the ac at 80 so I wouldn't waste electricity while I was gone. No animals in the house or anything no there was no concern for that. I came back home home and I turn downed my ac temperature to 74 to sleep. When I woke up this morning in a pool of sweat I was a little upset. I checked the temperate and the house was at 80 degrees. Of course I was upset about this and called A/C Doctors as their yelp was 5 stars. I can see why now. I called and a technician showed up with in the hour. I was totally surprised and happy it was taken seriously enough to where they came in an hour. The guy came in shook my hand and asked me what was wrong. Then he looked at the thermostat and nothing was wrong. Then went to my air handler within 20 minutes and found the problem. My breaker in the air handler blew. The technician bypassed the breaker safely since the amp was the same on my house breaker and connected the wiring so my A/C would kick on. The A/C kicked on immediately and I have air now. I was ecstatic it worked so fast. Big sigh of relief. The nicest thing was the owner said it was on him and just to pass out his business card. AI can't say enough good things about AC Doctors. We were in the market for a new ac system and after researching a few different Companies we were drawn to ac doctors. The owner David Kruse, came to our house and sat down with us and discussed all our options. He answered all our questions and we finally decided on the champion system. We couldn't pass up the great deal that came with the champion system. It is build in the USA and came with an optional ten year labor warranty with a lifetime warranty on the compressor. David's technicians were on time, courteous, and friendly. They were sensitive to protecting the inside of our home from any damage while taking the old unit out and putting the new unit in. We were concerned about our wood floors. The technicians took there time and all went smooth on the removal and the install. They also did a great job cleaning up after themselves. Bottom line is ,from top to bottom the job was beyond professional. The next day David did a follow up visit to check up on his technicians work and make sure the system was operating properly. My rental management company got me an estimate from some other company that wanted $780 to replace the blower and motor -- or $4,000 to replace the ENTIRE system. That's when I decided to get a second opinion. AC Doctors got to the property within 2 hours. They gave me an estimate of $450 to replace the blower and motor, and 24 hours later the repairs were done. I'm totally pleased. read more

My main AC unit broke in the middle of the night on a weekend, gave them a call on Saturday and scheduled an appointment for Monday morning. David showed up mid morning, took a look at my system (which is a little strange because I have two central AC units and multiple air handlers), and began to diagnose the problem. He was very good at explaining what the issue was (compressor needed a hard start system) and what needed to be done to fix it. There was even an issue with the FPL On-Call relay switch that FPL themselves installed, and he told me exactly what the issue was and how to phrase it when speaking to FPL about getting it re-installed. He also was very up front about how the fact that I needed to hard start the AC was most likely a sign that my unit is on its last legs (it is 12 years old), and gave recommendations for how when I need to install a new system, I should look into doing so with my air handler in the garage instead of the attic, which would be both easier and cheaper. Super nice and very professional, definitely recommend for AC service. read more

Had a very similar experience as another yelper below, my property manager dispatched their person to my house and came back with a diagnosis that the entire system needed to be replaced for $4500. Sent an email that night to AC Doctors for a second opinion, and Frankie was out the next morning, and determined the tenant hadn't cleaned the air filters and the system was working fine.
