Our cat vomited, suddenly stopped eating, looked lethargic, and had diarrhea We were very worried. Dr. Nancy Matthews at A Cat's Vet Hospital was booked but she was willing to help us anyway if we could leave our kitty with her for the day. Soon we were offered a canceled appointment - even better! She did a thorough exam, discussed her findings with us, and answered all our questions. Before proceeding, she gave us multiple options. She and the wonderful staff always waited patiently while we weighed our options and the costs. We were never rushed. Exam room was very comfortably set up for both cats and owners. The medicine she prescribed was specifically designed for cats and accompanied by a packet of easy to use pill wrap and coating that our cat easily ate with its food. Good news - the next day - the cat was up walking and eating. The vet's tech called us to make sure everything was OK. Great experience with an exceptional vet and support team. read more

They not only saved my now 4 year old cat Smokie when he developed an abcess and needed surgery to drain it last year, but also again this year from a pack of coyote cubs that wanted to rip him apart. I can't write anything more amazing about this place. My senior cat declined rapidly. I mean this whole thing happened within 2 days. Unfortunately, my cats breathing and gums were not looking good. Many clinics I called around were not accepting walk ins or were charging an INSANE amount. When I called them even tho they were getting near closing time they took in my sweet Puma ASAP. They told me the truth of what it is. They really did wanted to save her... yesterday Puma passed under their amazing care. They let me say my goodbye in peace but also gave me my condolences. I am crying writing this but also finding comfort that she went in such a peaceful way. The vet gave me a beautiful necklace with her fur in it. I will keep this forever and ever. Boarding my kitty at a Cat's View. We Left on vacation & one of my cats hates my other cat and need to be keep separate. So Layla got to stay at the SPA, at least that's what we tell her it is. She was so well taken care of. Accommodations are at the front of the clinic so she gets to watch tv & stuff going on in the parking lot. The staff clean, feed & play with your kitty to make them feel at home. She was very happy to see me but was not a narcotic mess. I'm very happy with the care they gave her. read more

10/10 would recommend. We loved our vet we used before, never had any issues. He struggled to figure out what exactly was wrong with our cat and suggested going to a specialist. At first I couldn't even fathom seeing someone other than him but we made our way to A Cats View and honestly we are so thankful we did. They were able to see that our wonderful cat Mona was in serious trouble. They had the capability of doing all the tests and diagnostics right there in their facility, something our prior vet couldn't do. He did offer to bring in a specialist With their equipment to do it but it would take a couple of weeks. A Cats View stayed late to ensure all of the tests were done. We unfortunately got a terrible diagnosis of cancer but we're so thankful to them for helping us finally figure out what was going on. Dr. Nancy gave us so many treatment options and she was up front in saying if it was pricey and if she thought it wasn't worth it/necessary. We opted to give Mona the best days for the rest of her days. We took her in for weekly treatments and when they saw that Mona was getting more stressed than necessary they took the time to teach us how to administer some of the medications in the comfort of her own home. Heidi was Monas main vet tech and I'm forever grateful to her for how she loved and helped our sweet Mo. she had genuine concern for her every appointment and was so gentle and tender with her. Our sweet senior cat was declining fast and we knew it was her "time". My granddaughter called and they said to bring her right in. Dr Matthews and her staff greeted us with such kindness. Dr. Matthews and staff are experts in cats. She is the only true cat vet left in San Diego County. I have trusted her and her team for years with our cats and particularly like that she specializes in only cats. Dr. Matthews is warm, caring and competent. She is constantly studying to up on all the latest. She knows old and new techniques, is practical yet advocates for what the cat needs. Recently, my 4 year old former feral cat needed to have broken and rotted teeth removed. We had the procedure done on June 19, 2023. My cat stayed for several days to insure she was getting the oversight and care she needed. I learned the hard way about the importance of feral oral hygiene and care with the passing of my former cat who never had thorough oral exams and died of an oral sarcoma (pre-A Cat's View). Veterinary care takes investment and trust. I drive one hour, one way to see Dr. Matthews and it's worth every bit of time and gas. I never wonder if I'm getting correct counsel. When you meet with Dr Matthews, you never feel rushed. She takes her time to know about the owner as well as the cats. My cats have seen other vets before (vets who have more dog patients), but in terms of "cat-side" manner, Dr Matthews and all her staff are champions. Ask yourself this: - does your vet take blood pressure? (saved my 13yr old cat's life) - does your vet draw blood or give injections in the examination room in your presence? Good owners help calm their cats. Now I wonder why my previous vets/vet tech have to take my cats to the back room and how they were treated back there. This review was long overdue, but I'm finally doing it! (sorry for the delay!) We saw Dr. Matthews and staff for a routine check-up on November 13th via drop off due to Covid-19. The drive there was almost 20min but well worth, albeit my boys crying the whole way. We hated not being there for them, but I trusted a cat-oriented place to be the least painful experience. My 3 boys, Ace, Banksy, and Charlie were there for about 1.5 hours. We stayed in the lot just in case there were issues. The staff came out to give us feedback and offer additional vaccines. Later, Dr. Matthews came out to debrief us on their health. Finally, a vet assistant came to further debrief us on a recommended diet. We received a folder full of recommendations and tips and a bag of cat toys! This was the most informative vet visit we've ever experienced, and we're so grateful we were given the knowledge to provide our fur babies with the best life possible. The boys also came out pretttttty calm, so I'm thankful the Feliway fan was turned on high lol. They were much more relaxed on the drive home. Thanks again everyone at ACV! After losing my beloved veterinarian of 30 years to cancer and not pleased at all with the new owner & staff, I was having a difficult time finding someone who could "speak cat". To make it worse, we were right in the middle of the pandemic! I took a chance and took all four cats in at once for exams and vaccines. It was a chance well taken. Dr. Matthews & her staff are amazing. Very knowledgeable, kind and have an incredible work ethic. They are quick & responsive when a question or concern comes up. Dr. Matthews even called me on a Saturday night to let me know how one of my "kids" was after having all her teeth removed. They are fantastic about triaging care & explaining everything. Be careful with this Vet, we didn't have a good expereince our first time, we've not gone back. The staff was helpful but the doctor wasn't easy on our cat, not a good expereince at all for our cat and for just a blood test. The homey atomsphere does throw you off. The doctor seems to be looking, very diligently, for major illness's such as cancer and to do dental procedures (you're warned of "very expensive" dental procedures becuase they supposedly do it the the right way). You're not given an estimate, just that they're expensive. There's many other vets that do very fine dental procedures for very reasonable prices. If your welcomed with information from the doctor to find money to care for your pet if you don't have a lot of and you're given ways to find the money, ie; credit, get a second opinion. read more

When one of our cats had a mass that started growing out from under his eyelid, I saw another vet that looked at him for about 5 minutes and told us it was cancer and that we would have to wait 2 months to get him seen by an ophthalmologist. I was at my wits end after making calls for 3 days trying to find someone to look at him when I stumbled upon her office. She and her staff were so kind and caring and sweet and they put up with my blubbering. Low and behold after some testing, it wasn't cancer and she was able to remove the mass that took up about 90% of the eyelid and my Morty looks fantastic! I flew from Lax to Maine to receive my purebred Maine Coon kitten from a top breeder. I brought him home to Joshua Tree and did research to find a specific cats only vet. A Cat's View in Valley Center, a two hour drive away, was my first vet visit w my new kitty. Reviews were correct. I followed up the first visit with having my cat neutered by Dr. Matthews the owner. Mel, Harmony, the techs and Dr. Matthews provided my kitty with the Best possible experience. They were kind, empathetic to my anxiety, loving and affectionate to Zeuss-ee my 5 month old kitten. He returned home with a healthy body and his normal playful self. Dr. Matthews and her staff are worth every second of your time to reach them. My cat loves to go for car rides so this was an adventure for him and he responded to all the loving attention he received! read more

Dr. Matthews office sent me away for a scheduled neuter this week, because I can't afford, on disability alone, to pay a bill that I supposedly owed from August (like $50.00 for an ear swab that I was not aware I was going to be charged for, nor was I aware of it when I left the office that day). If owed, why didn't you collect it at the time services were rendered? I didn't owe you anything for a follow up to the previous spays/neuters/appt (the neuters Dr. Matthews only charged us $100 per neuter for, about two months earlier; We took four kittens to her at that time). I'm not exactly sure why she chose to charge more for the second set of kittens neuters (kittens #5 and 6), but the perpetual sloppy admin work seem to be a pattern at this clinic and with this DVM. Or, it's likely that Dr. Matthews was hoping I wouldn't bring the next set of kittens back to her, knowing she had quoted us thousands of dollars to fix an inguinal hernia on one of the kittens, which (on the kitten) ended up being no more than a "floppy belly" (which every kitten in both litters have/or have had). She was hoping I wouldn't return. And at this point, I won't, and you shouldn't either. Dr. Nancy Matthews, you took an ear swab without informing me of charges. Tell the truth. Why would you allow a physically disabled person to bring kittens to you in the early morning, take them to the back of the clinic to be neuter, but turn me away for only having $300.00 even, and not the extra $50.00 from the ear swabs two months earlier?? I didn't receive an invoice, call, nothing. So, (despite debilitating pain from a broken sacrum), I packed up my last 2 kittens (Dr. Matthews neutered my first 4, w/o a problem, three mon ago. Since I had 10 cats to be spayed/neutered, she quoted us $150/female, and $100/male. If your staff is in disbelief, they should check the details in my acct from the prior srvcs, before deciding you understand the situation. I've had 5 cats, or more, spayed/neutered there. Shortly after I arrive, someone from the staff went outside and brought in both of my kittens, and they took my kittens to the back for me, bc of my back injury. Recently I took two of our newest litters (2) kitten w a herniated belly. Dr. Matthews quoted me/us $3,700.00 to $4,700.00 to repair the kittens belly (inguinal hernia). Long story short. I took THAT kitten and his twin brother to PARKWAY PET CLINIC, and the kitten with a "herniated belly" was actually just fine and needed NO SURGICAL INTERVENTION. His twin brother kitten, however, showed no visual signs of an inguinal herniation, yet PARKWAY did a FREE ULTRASOUND on him during the neuter. They charged us $75.00 per kitten to be neutered, and only $75.00 more to remove a testicular from the kitten's abdomen (he had cryptorchism) that we didn't even suspect a problem w. A total of $225.00 for both kitten. Dr. Nancy Langlois Matthews is a con, and I fully believe that's what she would allow me to drive in with my terrified kittens, and turn us away, after taking both kittens to the back, already. I came in with the exact amount I was told to bring, $300.00 for the two neuters (way more than Parkway... And more than the initial spays and neuters that we had just done two months prior). I've waited some time to post this to make sure that I wanted to put this out there, but the whole situation was so unprofessional, not to mention, hurtful. Dr.Mathews, Mel, Brook, and Christine are all simply amazing. My cat was showing symptoms of something going on and we got him in immediately. Dr.Mathews and her team did everything possible to help my cat Bahgeera and ease his pain as well. After all other options were exhausted, he had to under go surgery for a blockage. They've done everything to keep us updated and and at peace, but most importantly they have done everything to keep our sweet cat as comfortable as possible. I know during Covid-19 it's very hard to get an appointment anywhere. My friend found a kitten on the freeway and rescued it. So I had to wait until I was off work to bring in the baby to get checked out! The staff was super nice and I left feeling very well taken care of on literally no notice! Dr. Nancy Matthews is one of the most caring veterinarians I have ever come across. She has the capabilities to do all that is necessary to care for your cat in house. I took my baby Gizmo to another vet and they did nothing for him. They told me to keep an eye on him for 3 days. He wasn't eating or drinking. When I called Dr. Matthews, her staff told me to bring Gizmo in right away without an appointment and they would do the necessary tests in between other patients. He had to undergo a series of tests to determine his diagnosis. The staff told me that if Gizmo wasn't eating or drinking on his own to bring him back which the next day I had to do just that. He was given additional fluids and new medications. I brought him home and he is beginning to show signs of improvement. The crazy World we live in with Covid restrictions has such an impact on businesses providing care that remains personal. Dr. Matthews and her staff have gone above and beyond to care for my cats care and mine. 10 stars. read more

My Misty-Rain was rushed to the clinic on Saturday after swallowing my sewing needle. I was frantic and scare of the possibilities. The staff were calm and kind and very professional. The clinic Wes closing at noon, but they stayed and performed emergency surgery on my little girl. They gave her supreme care, A warming blanket and plush trimmings to comfort her, since she is a bit picky! The doctor called us daily with updates on her condition. This place is fantastic if you own a cat! We happened upon A Cat's View Veterinary Hospital, in Valley Center/North Escondido, when our cat was ill. They were able to see our cat the next day. Because of COVID, they had to examine our cat while we waited in our car. However, after our cat was examined, the examining vet asked us to meet with her at a table outside of their business. There, she went over our cats condition with us and gave us our options, and her recommendations. Dr. Trubey was very patient and answered all of our questions, never rushing us or being judgmental on our decision. The prognosis was terminal for our cat, that we had for more than 14 years. Sensing our shock and sadness at the diagnosis, Dr. Trubey asked if we would like to take our cat home until the weekend was over, so that we could say our final good bye. It was the closure we needed. We will be forever grateful for the care and compassion that Dr. Trubey, and the entire staff, extended to us and to our loving cat. They will be our vet of choice when we eventually adopt another cat. They are simply the best! read more

I wanted to adopt a kitten, so I cold called and the practice referred me to 'Save Your Feral Felines,' where I adopted Herbert the feral kitten. As the other reviews say, the vet and staff, at first, are caring people. If you are boarding your cat, or just coming for a routine exam, they are fine and usually very thorough. However they don't do follow-up calls as they say they will do, and nearly every time I've gone in, I had to call out "hello" to even sign in. Further should something go wrong as a result of their actions, you can bet they'll still charge you. I took my cat in to have her toenail clipped. The vet proceeded to do an x-ray, then advised me an amputation was needed, and then ran blood tests (this visit: $576.20) to determine my cat was a healthy and strong candidate for surgery. Well I took my cat in for surgery, and the first thing they wanted was me to prepay ($1787.39). A few hours later I get a call from the vet who advises me she sees bruises and is "concerned. What would I like to do?" WHAT?!? I'm not the one with medical training. The doctor should have cancelled doing the surgery at that point, but she doesn't even make the recommendation. She calls again awhile later about lumps, etc. To make a long story short, as the medical professional, the vet should have made the recommendation to abort the surgery. The vet did not and proceeded with surgery and then afterwards, while nobody was at the hospital or keeping an eye on my cat - my cat died from internal bleeding. They didn't even call me! I called to pick my cat up the next morning (not knowing anything was wrong) and they put me on hold for a long time before telling me the vet would call me back. WHAT?!? To make a long story short, my cat is dead from a surgery that should have never taken place, and the vet still insisted she will not refund the money because she performed the surgery (a surgery that should not have taken place). I've contacted her in writing twice, to which I've received no response. Not a letter, a call, an email or even a text. The moral to the story, if your cat needs more than a check up - go somewhere else! read more
