I had taken my dog here a while ago due to a severe allergic reaction from a bee sting, to the point at which she went into shock. I called first, sat on the phone for nearly 15 minutes as I'm getting my dog ready to go to the vet and the phone call is hung up. I get to the clinic, and after explaining all of my dog's symptoms, I am told it would be $500 for a complete emergency exam, which I thought was entirely too expensive, and unnecessary to which I declined to proceed. I wound up going somewhere else and after everything was completed I only spent $40 more than the initial $500 here and my dog was seen instantly. Fast forward, this clinic is the closest clinic to where I'm located and I wanted to discuss the purchase of antivenin prescriptions for my dogs and the process they wanted to follow. I was told I would receive a call back, and never did. Due to the lack of regard, organization and the prices associated with this clinic, I do not recommend them. I do hope things change in the future, as it does pain me to write a negative review about a local business. read more

Since Valley Center is pretty isolated, this vet clinic seemed like a convenient choice. Unfortunately, it was a really disappointing experience. Dr. Clarke misdiagnosed my pets, and they left the office in worse condition than when we arrived. I ended up having to spend twice as much to see a specialist who finally figured out what was wrong. Almost another year and we are still so happy with VC Vets! Dr. Clarke and her team are amazing. We have five fur babies and she knows each one, she takes us in a pinch when our older girl needs attention. I can't say enough about the doctors, vet techs and staff here. All amazing! I have nothing but high praise for the entire staff at Valley Center Vet Clinic. We were so panicked when we realized that our dear husky had likely been bitten by a rattlesnake. We knew we had to find an emergency vet in the area that could provide the best possible care for our dog. The moment we called and explained the situation, we knew we would be in good hands. They were so compassionate and concerned about our boy and assured me that they would be ready and waiting for him as soon as we arrived. I was a wreck, but they helped me remain calm. From the moment my husband arrived, they were ready to help, and went straight to work! They kept us informed every step of the way. We couldn't have wished for a more knowledgeable, experienced, caring staff. I'm happy to report that our boy is doing wonderfully well, and is back to his happy-go-lucky, playful self. I so appreciate that they called to update me and let me know how Piper was doing. They also followed up with us to check on Piper and get a status update. Tried to be positive and sincere paid good extremely good money nothing is fixed1000$ . this lady is a scammer she will tell you anything to not lift a finger I don't know if it's laziness or she is scamming hard. whatever your animals ailments are I guarantee you two things will happen when you come here 1 she will not diagnose instead she will band aid it with hundreds of dollars of pharmaceuticals and a guaranteed second appointment and 2 she repeats herself a lot either trying to be rude or judgmental or she is losing it. Also take note of how she pets your dog/cat and tries to make you feel guilty and obligated to do what she says instead of working on a solution. I had been coming here for a while, about 4+ years. I have been to several vets across the USA. I like Dr. Clarke as the vet and she was good with diagnosing. Some of the prices are very high compared to other vets. One lab test that I got quoted from two other hospitals was close to about $100 less at both hospitals compared to here. The health certificate cost is very high here. Typical their prices are decent. I removed 2 stars as to one of the one person I think at the front desk staff. Most are very nice but one has been very judgmental and insulting. This person has been insulted and judgmental on more than one occasion. It been several times. I also had Dr. Clarke yell at me over the phone for not wanting to do a lab test as thought the test would be negative due the blood results. I ended up having that lab test done at a different vet for a lot less. The board-certified surgeon and another regular vet both looked at the bloodwork and told me the other test would be negative. From the comments from this one employee there, I start looking for another vet clinic due to the one employee comments. I found a great vet clinic but this location lost a client due to their employee's behavior. read more

The appointment was okay. My dog was aggressive so the doc that saw her couldn't provide a thorough check, which is fine. What really bothered me was the fact that they pushed so hard about getting a dental cleaning.. when the tech brought us to a room she immediately mentioned it before all else- when that's not what we were there for, then the doctor mentioned it several times...to be honest, it was discussed more than what we were actually there for.. and I understand the health factors and concerns behind it but it sure felt like they were just trying to add more cost. At checkout, the associates/ receptionist were discussing Pokémon, didn't even say bye after I paid. After reflecting a bit over the appointment, I don't plan on returning.. I'm sure they're great here but it just didnt work for us.. read more

This Vet clinic is Amazing!!! Dr. Clarke, Dr Jackson and Dr Benson are amazing vets, Kelsey, Barbara, Misty were all very helpful and friendly going above and beyond to help us. Also, Nima and Jessica the Vet techs are very knowledgeable, kind and amazing at their jobs, our dog loves all of the staff here. Such a good team we feel very safe and in good hands having them take care of our pup Birdie. We have been to many vet clinics over the years in different states etc. and this clinic is a hidden gem and worth the 40+ minute drive to get there for us. Our most recent visit was for an emergency and Kelsey and Barbara were extremely helpful over the phone and in person to get us in right away and help us with our emergency . Dr Clarke and Nima were the ones who helped us with our recent emergency. They all did such a good job and all went above and beyond to help our dog and keep us calm as well. Dr Clarke and Nima have amazing bedside manner and were on point with everything!! . It was an amazing experience during a very stressful situation. Dr Clarke and Nima took such good care of our pup during that emergency and she is in good health again thanks to Dr. Clarke, Nima, Kelsey and Barbara. Thank you! We found out about this clinic through "Paws Into Grace" who the owners of this clinic own as well and can see the great leadership and team are at both businesses. We have been amazed at how nice and professional the team at both businesses have been and only have good things to say about both. Their prices are very reasonable, especially for the care and service they provide and you don't feel any pressure to have to buy anything you don't want to as well. Most dogs try to run out of the vet after they are done and want to jump in the car asap! , Our dog was pulling us to go back inside to see Dr Clarke and staff and didn't want to leave. I came in as a new client to see Dr. Chang. My visit from start to finish was great! The receptionist greeted me and promptly got me into a room with my dog who can be very nervous. The technicians made him feel very comfortable through the appointment. I left him for sedated X-rays and had no concerns that he would be properly cared for. Dr. Chang was thorough with her exam and an amazing doctor! The staff also did a great job dealing with another client who was not very pleasant and incredibly rude to them, they handled the situation with poise. I should have heeded the warnings I received from neighbors to skip this vet and instead use the other local vet. The staff at this vet did not communicate that I had strictly 30 days to neuter my pet from the consultation appt or I would be charged an ADDITIONAL exam fee. We are comfortable letting our puppy grow a bit more before neutering. They will not even budge for an additional two wks and will not waive the fee for completing the same exam TWICE, even though they did not communicate the 30 day requirement. They have also added on fees and I had to have them fix the bill. The staff over the phone is not friendly and misled me when I first scheduled my dogs appt. Even though they admitted their mistake, they weren't willing to resolve it and were very rude to me over the phone. They also made me come in and pay $57 just to receive an estimate, whereas another vet emailed it to me within 5 minutes at NO CHARGE. Charging for an estimate is absurd. This whole experience is reflective of their business practices, poor communication and shady ways of charging customers. I do like the actual vets here but since I can't trust them with charging us fairly or communicating the terms, we will be bringing our pet care elsewhere. read more

Wonderful people! I called because my dog got a foxtail up his nose and they made room in their packed day to see him immediately. Everybody was so kind and caring and the vet was straightforward to the point. They priced out all items beforehand and talked about what could and couldn't be removed. They suggested the best course of action and then alternate courses of action so I could see all sides. The prices were very reasonable and it was an overall a great experience. Vc Vet was great , I took my yorkie Ruger in on emergency basis for a rattlesnake bite last Saturday around lunchtime. I wasn't told "we're about to go to lunch, soooo we can't see him!" They squeezed him in right away, did all of the necessary tests. Thank Jesus it was a mostly dry bite and his blood was able to coagulate. They just had to treat for infection, pain & inflammation. Today, I received a follow up call to see how Ruger was doing! We will be returning to VC Vet Cilnic for any other pet care, thank you ladies! read more

I'm so happy with this hospital. Dr. Clarke and her staff are so welcoming and friendly. I took my puppy in recently for an exam and he loved it. She took her time to check him thoroughly and was very informative, answering all my questions. I've worked at two animal hospitals before, a small clinic in my hometown and another high end hospital here in Valley Center. I can assure you it's always the smaller clinics like VCVC that have the biggest hearts. I was treated better here than I was as an employee for the other hospital and that really says something. I've always heard great things about Dr. Clarke and her staff and they proved them all to be true. I'm so appreciative to have found a permanent place to take my fur babies. read more

Great Vet clinic. I was looking for a place to take my pets. My current vet spends the entire visit up-selling me and making me feel like a bad pet-parent. They do an ok job with my pets but, are ridiculously priced. Enough about them. Valley Center Vet Clinic was nice from the initial phone call. I took my 4.5 month dog to get spayed. She was happy and comfortable from the time we walked in. They took really good care of her. They were also reasonably priced. I will take all of my pets there. I'm updating my review & giving them more stars, because even though what I posted in my past review was a very frustrating experience, & the problems I encountered at the office weren't addressed in the response, the staff at this veterinarian office are truly wonderful. The techs, the front desk ladies, the Vets, & especially Dr. Ito! My pups have been well taken care of here, and I absolutely would recommend this veterinarian office. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I truly like the Drs my doggies have seen at VCVC. However, I am VERY disappointed with all the hassle it now takes to fill online orders for my dogs' medication (in this case, it was their heart guard medication) through a pharmacy OTHER than VC Vet or their associated/partnered online pharmacy. 2 reasons I was given are complete BS. 1) "we don't want orders being filled by unlicensed pharmacies." - That's fine & all, but Drs Foster Smith IS a licensed pharmacy w/ licensed pharmacist filling the prescription. This information is easy to check. 2) I was told "the doctors don't want their names on prescriptions from online orders with other companies in case the product is bad." - Even getting a written Rx to mail thru the post office, vs being approved online, the Drs at your facility still have their name put on the Rx sticker that's attached to the product since they were the ones who wrote the Rx. On top of that... When I called to request a Rx be written up, the lady took down all the info, including the dog's name & size, and which brands they were on & the quantity I was having refilled. When I got there & was handed the prescriptions, one was the wrong item that my dog can't even take, and thankfully I caught it before I left! I'm guessing whoever wrote them assumed both my dogs took the same prescriptions. So it seems, approving a prescription online, where all the correct info is already there would be safer! Regardless of whatever the true reason might be that caused Valley Center Veterinary Clinic to stop approving ONLINE pharmacy orders (because they'll still hand write you a Rx to take or mail anywhere...which makes no sense to me based on what their staff told me were their concerns), it appears that VC Vet is just making it harder for clients to fill prescriptions in order to try & get people to use the online store associated with their practice that is linked on their website which they are happy to tell you about, which would have cost me at least $30 more to fill this Rx! I VERY MUCH hope VCVC changes this in the very near future! read more

I liked the fact that they do walk ins. So I decided to bring in my cat who was dehydrated and hasn't been eating or drinking. It turns out she had a stage four dental. I ended up walking out paying 2600$ for a dental. This is the most expensive vet I have ever been at!!!! I have had pets for over 10 years. I've had many dentals done on my pets when I lived in Nevada and NEVER have I paid this much. read more

Dr. Savides was excellent in her care of my dog and explained diagnosis and treatment thoroughly. Supporting staff were helpful at every step of the appointment and updated vaccine records for me. We have been going to Valley Center Vet almost since the very beginning of our move to Valley Center, approximately 18-19 years ago. We had an old dog that already had another vet when we moved on the property, & had to euthanize her within that first year. We were so broken up about losing her, it took a while to bring a new family member home. Then we got Pepino for Christmas, Una the next Christmas, and that following summer, Odie, Maya, and Shortie. (We overdid it, for sure!) Shortie ended up at our friend's house as the big dogs would fight with our neighbor's dogs, so our friends took Shortie as she wasn't much for fighting back & was the most vulnerable. Through all the chaos, we kept our dogs as they grew up with Valley Center Vet. Maya was the first to go with Cancer. She was way to young. We had to euthanize her. Una & Pepino had puppies, which we kept one, & named him Pirate. The vet adored this little guy. He got bit by a rattlesnake & even after the antivenin, died at home in my arms. That was so traumatizing! Then Pepino had heart trouble but surprised us & Dr. Clark by living 2 years longer than she predicted WITH medication before we had to euthanize him. All we had left at that point was Odie, our biggest, and Una, our smallest. Odie got cancer too and eventually he was euthanized. Right now I am arranging for my "baby" who slept by my side for 15 years to go meet all her brothers & sisters. All our dogs meant so much to us. We can still get tears thinking of past dogs we loved when we talk about them. Through the years we have had the best care with Dr. Clark and the whole staff. They all love each and every pet that comes through their door. I cannot say enough about all the staff and doctors there. They have been understanding about treatments and/ or operations that we may have had trouble affording. If anyone ever wants to know a great place to take their family pet(s) I would highly recommend Valley Center Vet Clinic! read more

I brought my Chihuahua who was not feeling well in unannounced and without an appointment for the first time and although they were fully booked, they graciously gave me 3 other recommendations, and I proceeded to head to one of them. I got about 2 miles away and they called me to tell me they just got a cancellation and I headed straight back. My little guy was well taken care of and this will be my new vet!
