I apologize for the length of the review. My intentions are strictly to write an honest description of the experience I had with this company in hopes that they will recognize their errors in the treatment of their customers.
My roommate and I's lease had recently been ending, so I was in search for a carpet cleaning company. My bedroom was compromised of 2 rooms (the 2nd one being the only carpeted room in the house and a fairly small one at that 10 by 11ft).***I will give credit to A Choice for giving me a fast online quote of 60 dollars, I had been shopping prices a few days and knew I wasn't going to find a better price. I made the appointment for that weekend for Friday between 1 and 2 pm.
Now I had already been moved out of our place for a while, but my roommate was moving the last of her things out on the same day as the scheduled carpet cleaning --- A Choice showed up an hour sooner than I was told and was not given a heads up. I was heading towards the old place at noon when I received a phone call from the roomie saying that the carpet cleaners were there had been there about 8 minutes and were done and wanted cash or check. I was surprised by this and tried to rush to a bank to get their money. My roommate ended up having to go to an ATM to pay them 80. A Choice performed a cleaning that I did not witness myself and left no receipt for me to give to the landlord.
I spent the rest of Friday deep cleaning, but Saturday morning I called to inquire about the receipt and give them comments about their services. I was not particularly impressed by the cleaning, did not remove two wax stains, the room also seemed a little musty to me (despite leaving a fan on the floor and windows open). And I was concerned by the fact that they had only been their 8 minutes and why they wouldn't warn me better of their early arrival. I had not realized I was even talking to the business owner on the phone at first, but midway he got defensive and told me he was the owner and he performed the cleaning himself. He also blamed my roommate's cat for making the room musty, as well as blaming the house for smelling bad. I had been deep cleaning the rest of Friday without the cat or litterbox there so I know it's not from them. It sounded to me that he just wanted to look for excuses because he felt like his honor was being attacked when really I was just trying to lay out the facts and tried to remain as calm as I could for being yelled at. I asked him how long he took to clean because the roomie said you were only there about 8 min, he called my roommate a liar. It escalated to the point that he handed his phone off to his wife. I talked to her and explained what was going on and how I was concerned that my landlord will not be pleased with this carpet cleaning. She had to apologize for her husband and was trying to explain how they were confused because they didn't get complaints like this before. I was not trying to cause frustration or trouble just to explain the things that went awry. She got my number and called me back to tell me that they would be over that day to re-do the service. I appreciated the gesture she was making and accepted (I double-checked the time frame with her as well, ensuring that I would be there for it).
-Experience number 2-
The same man I must have had the lovely encounter with on the phone earlier that day pulled up in his truck, approached the door cell phone in hand looking down. I greeted him and tried to be friendly, I showed him the room again and let him know that I double-vacuumed that day again just to ensure that there was no cat hair. I left him be and went on cleaning the house when he approached me, he clearly did not want to be there again, and he asked me what I wanted because it looked fine to him, and asked if he wanted me to spray some deodorizer or if I was going to make him pull out all of his equipment out to do it again because "he was only gonna be like 10 minutes." I told him I would prefer for him to clean it again while I was here this time, and he did not like that answer. My boyfriend did chime in at this point and asked him "to just clean it as the lady on the phone said," This really pissed of the owner and he turned around and told him to basically stay out of it in an angry raised voice. We tried to stay out of his way because he was clearly agitated, but we did time the gentlemen and clocked his machines running for only 5 minutes before he left. Two wax stains still there but I got my receipt as an email.
Overall disappointed, I understand that there may have been some miscommunications between us, however, I do think it is in the best interest of a business to not become verbally abrasive to their customers.. especially first-time customers. I appreciated them coming back to clean again so I gave 2 stars but the owner had an awful attitude about the situation and he let his ego and anger get in the way at a second chance. read more
