TLDR: very poor craftsmanship and a team that does not follow through…read more I hired Heartwood Custom Cabinetry to build an in-home bar. During the initial consultation, we discussed the expectations for the bar and I received a quote accordingly. Once work began, it became clear that no precise measurements were taken. In fact, the team had to modify the bar plan to avoid leaving a two-foot gap between a couple of refrigerators. Their "solution" to the error was to place a thin piece of wood in the gap that is not anchored to anything, and moves with even the slightest touch. Additionally, the team did not measure the grade of the floor, which resulted in a gap between a portion of the bar and the floor. After notifying the team that I was dissatisfied with the obviously poor craftsmanship, they offered to fix it. Rather than fixing the issue however, the team covered it up by installing trim that was just tall enough to hide the gap. Further still, the project required the team to remove a section of baseboards. Once again, their failure to properly measure resulted in too much baseboard being cut away. The "solution" was to fill the large gap with caulking. Throughout the project, the team forgot various things and would need to reschedule. On one occasion I even needed to visit the shop after hours just to finally get a look at varnishes. Toward the end of the project, the team brought in and glued down a shelf made of the wrong kind of wood. I asked that they remove the shelf and replace it with the type originally agreed to. Although they removed the shelf, I never received the correct shelf. After 6 months of very frustrating conversations, Vic has now refused to complete the job at all, and has gone so far as to launch personal insults attacking my intergrity. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend using this company for any reason.
