I heard of this place through a customer (who also has a shih-poo like me) who came to dine in at the restaurant I manage. I was actually complaining to her that I spend $100 (not including the $20 tip I always leave) at a supposedly 5-star, reputable place in DT Denver and not even a week after the groom, I always find knots and tangles behind the ear and not to mention his nails barely trimmed. She recommended this place. First off, the amount of money we spent was much less than the other place and my Pookie looked absolutely adorable when I picked him up. This is by far the best he's ever looked after being groomed. Not to mention, he smelled super nice and his nails/ears were trimmed/cleaned to perfection. Waited two months to get our first appointment for our puppy, and was totally worth it! Their system of on boarding new clients is very interesting and impressive. They only let master stylists work on new dogs. After the dogs third visit with a master stylist then they can work with any of the other ones. The space is cute and the quality of their work is impeccable! My dog had a full grooming plus a mud bath and she looked absolutely amazing! They're also really honest with the nature of their suggestions. My dog is shorthaired and I thought every month she would need a grooming and they said no it's more like every eight weeks and you can just bring her by to get her nails trimmed without an appointment. It was very nice to hear verses, trying to upsell us and increase the frequency that was not necessarily beneficial for the nature of our dogs hair. Since there are limited master stylists, we went ahead and booked all of our appointments out for the rest of the year. My Maltipoo has been going to A Clip above seeing Willow regularly. Willow is clearly an expert in her field. Sure I've taken my dog to less expensive groomers, but the cut he receives is exceptional in comparison, as well as his demeanor when he is returned to me he is relaxed and comfortable. The women who staffed the front desk are always kind and professional, and go beyond the call of duty, including helping my dog to the car when my disability makes it difficult to do. read more

A Clip Above's groomers are experts at what they do! I've been taking my Golden Retriever here for a few years now. They are attentive, kind, and transparent, and he always comes home looking a million times better than when I dropped him off. He has a ton of fur and can get some pretty tough knots, and they always trim them with care and still make him look handsome. This place may be a little pricey, but it is worth it for my dog who requires quite a bit of grooming in one session. My one piece of feedback is they sometimes take a little longer to call to tell me he's ready for pickup, and sometimes their phone goes to voicemail. I wish there was a way to be put on hold or wait in a queue instead of needing to call back. This is very insignificant though, and I still rate this place 5 stars based on the friendliness of the front desk and the expertise and kindness of the groomers. Plus, it's clean! read more

We moved to the area and needed to find a groomer for our toy poodle and a clip above had great reviews for our breed of pup. I called and was given plenty of information and scheduled a bath & trim. They did such an amazing job on her and the prices are average with great results. We booked regular services because they can get booked out pretty far (1-1.5 months out). This business used to be so efficient and professional; not only is it a minimum of 95dollarsper dog for a bath but the mail trim is extra and you had better double check it was done when you pick up your dog. a dog was literally screaming in back and my dogs used to like going ther but now literally growl at us when we enter. the grooming is good but never the way you ask your dog to be clipped. i'm sad they make me wait to see my dog and request full payment before i see them and ask for a tip/ without seeing the work done? this is a super clean and convenient location in centennial- just goin down hill. read more

She actually told me "to just relax" from the other end of the busy front end; when I was APOLOGIZING TO A STAFF MEMBER for being late and having to reschedule, and wondering out loud (all politely) why it made a difference wether the dog with me was dog#1 or dog#2 (they had appointments 30 minutes apart, and they're the same breed and very similar weight). Anyhow she told me to just relax, I said excuse me? very calmly- it led to ridiculousness. I'll never go back because of this woman- which is too bad- her groomers are excellent!! But to be talked to in that manner & to be treated so poorly; absolutely not worth her high price. I feel bad for her staff. Cannot even imagine how she treats them. Would give zero stars if I could. Everything was great, groomer advised me one nail got cut a little short and she bled a little. I understood. Then when we left and got home, I noticed a cut on her leg that no one advised me on. Please take note! If you have a Cavalier King Charles and/or a Cockalier do not use A Clip Above. I have been all over town searching for a knowledgeable Groomer. A Clip Above was highly recommended. In my consult, the Groomer gal kept asking and telling me "it's your preference". I told her I only know they have an undercoat and that is not supposed to be cut down. I also told her for both pups please do not "shave down". It is 18 degrees at night and we are currently in Winter! Well, when I picked them up they looked like they had been in a concentration camp shaved completely all over down. Buzz cut. I only give two stars because their ears came out perfect. They had a few mats I could not get at home. Their paws were shaved down which of course with these breeds need tending too. If anyone on Yelp knows where in Denver Metro to take these fabulous dogs, plz let me know. I think for $219 for both not including a Christmas tip, you should know EXACTLY how to groom a Cavalier and Cockalier - mix of a Cav and Cocker Spaniel. Do the Groomers not watch Grooming tips even on You Tube which has every breed imaginable? What on earth kind of training for those prices do they receive? Ridiculous disservice and almost cruel grooming for these now chilly dogs. My Cav sacrificed his undercoat. I took my rescue pup to see Willow and she did a great job! Pudge is a tough customer as he is very shy, suffers from epilepsy and recently tore his canine ACL, so he's on three legs. Willow was really patient with him and he looks like such a babe with his Mohawk! It took us a week or so to see her, but they were even amazing at keeping us on a waitlist and they were able to get him in sooner. Highly recommend them! read more

They told me they couldn't cut my dogs nails, because she was aggressive and stressed out. I've had her nails clipped at multiple groomers in the past, and I am not sure what is different here. I can't go against their policies and respect the rules etc but they did charge me and told me that they would refund me but then they couldn't figure out how to do a refund so they said that they will give it to me when they figure out how to do it. I don't think you should charge for a service that you can't complete. I also think that if you're going to take someone's money, you should know how to give it back to them.
