I was hesitant to leave an honest review due to the unprofessional responses the owner is leaving, however I've determined that my dogs safety and awareness is more important. When making an appointment I made it clear that I only wanted a bath, brush, de-shed, and nail trim. I wanted nothing cut or trimmed at all. The gentleman on the phone assured me that they wouldn't do anything but that (as I do the rest myself at home). When I picked up my dog the groomer I was told that I would have a $15 additional charge since my dog was "difficult to handle" (this had never been an issue at any of the groomers he has been to so I was shocked but none the less complied). She then informed me that she scratched my dogs nose with the brush. I wasn't worried about it at first because I figured it was an honest mistake, it didn't look noticeable at the time, and I appreciated her telling me upfront. I paid and went home. Once I got home his nose was bleeding and he kept licking his private. I took a closer look and saw that not only did they cut around his stomach, they cut the tip of his private and it was also red bleeding. I know that it is customary to do a hygienic clip during a groom but I specifically asked for nothing but the bath and NO CUT AT ALL. My poor dog is now having to wear a cone to prevent him from getting an infection where they cut his private. His nose is starting to heal thankfully but I'm still very concerned about his other injury. I'm disappointed and heart broken that my baby is suffering from something that never should have happened. read more

Barky Mountain - stellar business! Best haircut EVER for my (formerly shaggy) Old English Sheepdog. Tori is amazing and pulled off an adorable panda/teddy bear haircut... despite some matting- looks flawless. And she even added cute pigtails with bows. This business is busy (I'm glad- hope they remain around for a long time) so they book sometimes 2-3 months out, but don't let that deter you, just plan ahead or ask if they can place you on the waitlist. To their credit, they actually remember to call you when they have openings! (I was able to get in today instead of waiting for an appointment in March.) My 8 year old Goldendoodle, Apollo, loved his first groom at Barky Mountain! It only took an hour and a half and he was so happy. He got to roam around, which is a plus! We've had really bad experiences with other groomers( Apollo did not want to go and acted up, they kept him in a cage for 4+ hours, among many other things) and we're happy to have found this one! This groomer does a nice job, but they are typically booked out by weeks/months and will occasionally cancel appts - which pushes you back even further. I called in to re-schedule an appt that they had cancelled on me and was told they have "no open spots on the calendar". Really? None? Ever? Time to move on to a new groomer that keeps their appointments. I doubt they will miss my business as they are apparently booked solid through the end of time. read more

Took my puppy in today since she looked like a ragamuffin and they did an amazing job on her! She is very young and squirmy but somehow they managed to get the job done! Have also taken our big golden doodoe in and they did an awesome job on her as well. I love how they are free to roam around and not stuck in a cage. Definitely recommend! read more

Very highly recommended! The groomer my shihpoo and shih tzu had their whole lives had to retire for health reasons, so I was forced to find a new place to take care of my babies. It was challenging to find a place that did not kennel the pups and was also exceptionally clean, as that is what we were used to. Chelsea takes great care of Murphy and Watson, and their cuts are always consistent. Prices are great compared to what I have heard other puppy parents paying. We have used Barky Mountain several times. On one visit, the groomer got soap in our one year old dogs eyes and didn't tell us. By evening his eyes were swollen shut. Needless to say we had an expensive vet bill. They made no amends but after a phone call they did say that they got soap in his eyes, sorry. That was it. We won't be going back. read more

Chelsea took excellent care of my scruffy pup who really dislikes being groomed and hadn't been to a groomer in nearly a year. She listened about not cutting his fur too short and also listened about things he really doesn't tolerate during grooming. He looks transformed and I couldn't be happier. This was our first time at Barky Mountain and we'll be going back for sure. I agree with other reviewers that they book out weeks and months in advance. My original appointment, made in May, was for early July. I asked to be put on their cancellation list, and got two calls from being on that list...we weren't able to make it the first time, but we did the second. So if your schedule is flexible, I encourage you to get on their cancel list. read more

Owner and staff incompetent. Owner talked over me the entire time. They cancelled my appt two days before the date due to Corona which is understandable. At that time, I was told that they were closing until May 1st but would reaching out to all of their scheduled appointments first to rebook and if I was interested, I emphatically replied yes. Never received a call. Called in today to be told that the next available appointments is the 23rd. I asked how I went from an appt two days away to over a month away. No reason given. Spoke with the owner who was rude and talked over me the whole time. I asked about the original plan and why it wasn't adhered to. I received excuse after excuse. Moved on to a different groomer. In times like this, the focus should be on your customers not a $$$$. read more

I love this grooming shop! My dogs always come home smelling great, never a "wet dog" smell like other groomers. The best part is my dogs willing go in, which is how I know they are taking great care of my fur babies while they're there! Also, it's easy to schedule with them! Love that part! read more

My German Shepherd was very afraid coming in today as he had a horrible experience at the vets when he was neutered. Dottie was wonderful with him and calmed him down. He's a long haired German Shepherd and had some mats. The grooming was great and we are going to do this quarterly or more if needed. He looks gorgeous and pby feels so much better. This place was referred to me and I will let her know how happy I am. I have already referred this place to my ex whose wooly malamute was shaved at Petsmart ( you don't do that with northern breeds & he was livid).
