I couldn't believe the fantastic service! The owner (I think) went over every piece of jewelry with me showing me with the magnifier exactly what it looks like. For each individual piece, he wrote out the weight and the (GREAT) price he will pay for it. No hussling, no "all together price" - honest, straight forward individual assessment with a fantastic customer service to boost. And on top of that - they put a timer for my meter outside and gave me quarters to make sure I don't get ticketed - now that's just decent folks. What more can you ask for? Mark is a true pro who has been involved in coins and collectables since the age of 13. I had a small collection to sell from my dad and I collecting coins when I was young. Interest in coin collecting has dwindled, most likely due to more modern methods of entertainment for kids. Many of the coins we collected had not maintained their value, and when factoring in inflation, lost quite a bit of value. While I did not expect to get rich from selling this 40 year old collection, I did expect to be treated fairly...and that's exactly what I got from Mark and A Coin Exchange. You very quickly trust his expertise and ethics. I believe the prices I received were fair and allow him to resell (mostly to wholesalers) for a fair profit. I see what all the amazing reviews here are about. These guys are solid! And definitely the friendliest and most thoughtful I've ever seen in this business. Mark and John are simply unusually thoughtful and friendly. As soon as I walked in Mark asked me if I put money in the meter. I told him I didn't but there's a few minutes left, I'll be ok. He gave me a quarter and said "I don't want you getting a $68 ticket. Drop this in." My situation was unusual because Mark had to deliver some disappointing news to me about what I came in to sell. But he patiently took the time to explain it, And he was completely honest. I checked it all out afterwards. He could have been simply dismissive when I first questioned him, but he wanted me to understand clearly, and I appreciate that. In the end I was satisfied with the transaction, and extremely impressed with the service. Mark was very fair with me, and he's earned a new customer. Not everyone in this business are good people, and while there are other legitimately good coin exchange dealers in Los Angeles, these guys are simply a cut above the rest. I actually drove out my way to come here because of the positive Yelp reviews. And if you're not conveniently close, I recommend making the drive, because when you're dealing with valuable valuables, it's worth making sure you're dealt with fairly and honorably. Read all the fantastic reviews and said, Come On, That Can't Be!!! So I gave them a call and ten seconds into the phone call with Jonathon and Bam! I knew this was the place. Stopped in yesterday met Jonathon and Mark and they turned me over to Pam and she is amazing. Went through all my pieces pulled out the gems and paid me cash. It took Pam a couple of hours to sort and test my collection but the time went by because of the great conversations and many laughs. I had a great experience (Even though the valley was 97 degrees) and yes its true Mark hands out quarters and will even go and put them in the meter for you. I was referred to A Coin Exchange by a friend... I had made an impulse jewelry purchase during my recent exotic travels and was having a bit of buyers remorse and wanted a pro to check it out.... It looked a lot worse when I looked at it after getting home! I went to see Mark- and immediately liked this guy. Luckily I didn't spend a lot on this piece- and Mark told me to consider it a "Life Lesson" !!!!! I KNOW better than to buy this way- but lack of sleep- excitement to be shopping- and probably that champagne lunch that day in India all figured into my poor decision. I had also brought some of my other treasures for Mark to asses- he was amazing- took the time to explain so much to me- he weighed and measured a stone for me- explained how diamonds are valued- the 3 C's ! He put me in touch with Pam in the shop to redesign some stuff- and I am eager to meet with her and repurpose this old jewelry! He also bought some scrap gold and gave me a great price! I am in the customer service business and am uber aware of it (or generally the lack of it) wherever I go. This kind of customer service is rare these days! These guys offered me water and snacks- actually fed me lunch on my 2nd visit- they are honest, friendly and funny! You don't feel pressured in this shop- you feel like you are hanging with friends! Called A Coin Exchange and asked what their hours and operation was currently as everything is different due to Covid-19. The gentleman on the phone Mark provided plenty of information. When I told him our 3 hour round trip for his store was part of my Son's Christmas gift he was more than willing to accommodate us. When we got there he took the time to show my son how to properly use the magnifying glass, explain the pricing with the Red Book and how to grade a coin with the Grading Standards book. Mark went above and beyond to help my son fill in his Mercury dime book, except for the elusive 1916D (my pockets weren't that deep lol). Great store with some nice people. Several years ago my good friend bought an engagement/wedding ring at 'The Coin Exchange.' Being very pleased with every aspect of his purchase he refered me to Pam. So I went, and Pam helped me out. Pam's associate had an antique 2ct+ diamond ring that I bought for my wife for our wedding anniversary. My wife loves & wears her ring everyday and has for all these years. I enjoy sitting across the dinner table looking at my wife with that ring on. The light shines on the diamond ring filled with fire, and it warms my heart. What a pleasure it was to do business with A Coin Exchange! I was there the other day to sell some precious metals and Canadian Maple Leaf Coins. When I entered the store, I was buzzed into the store through two locked, automatic security doors...don't get me wrong, the neighborhood is very upscale and safe, but obviously it's wise for a store that deals in valuable items to have extra security. Once in the store, Jonathon (the owner) came out to the desk and very warmly welcomed me to the store. The first question he asked was "is you parking meter o.k.? Do you have enough time left on your meter out there?" My answer was no, as I had just spent my last few pieces of change down the street, so he gave me a few quarters to feed the parking meter...how kind of him!! When I showed him the coins and precious metals I had to sell him, he did some calculations on his adding machine and offered me an INCREDIBLY fair price! I accepted his offer and he went to his office to pay me and the deal was done! Went in a second time. Opps. I was as unhappy the second time (one star) as I was happy the first (five stars). Brush off is too weak a description. This time I was going to sell my stamps, so I went in with the oldest of five albums. A female looked at only one half full page of early US postage due stamps, and said, "These are not new, they are worth nothing." She now called Mark, the fellow who had been there on my prior visit. He clearly did not want to be bothered, but came anyway. I told him that the really good stuff was Great Britain, Israel, Poland, and British India. He could not find Great Britain, looked at early US, and said I should donate to an old persons home for "historical interest." I sold the collection the next day for a pretty good amount. read more

We finally decided on having the engagement ring DESIGNED by Pam! Pam was so helpful, knowledgeable, and patient with us. We had no idea what we were looking for. My ring came out beautifully! It looks like a copy of a Tiffany's ring - round brilliant cut diamond encircled in a pave diamond halo and band made of platinum. GORGEOUS!!!
