Tony is the BEST barber I've been to in years! Haircut was exactly what I wanted at a reasonable price!

A friend recommended us to East Cooper Barber and Lisa was able to squeeze us in in a few days. adorable little "barber shop" in Phenix Suites next to Total Wine in Mount Pleasant. Greeted by "Sully" and a very welcoming comfortable atmosphere. Lisa was very knowledgeable and assessed the current color and style and made recommendations to better suit his skin tone. My handsome husband was very satisfied with the service and looks great! We highly recommend Lisa, but call in advance - she's very busy! Tell Sully Mike sent you!

Previously she was with the Broad Street Barber Shop, where I had her trimming my hair and beard. If I travel from my office at West Ashley over to Mt. Pleasant, she must be a good barber/stylist for my beard and balding head, right? Correct you are! Lisa is quite talented and a joy to talk to (especially with her brand new grand baby) and always introduces you to another client, even when they are sticking their heads in the door to schedule an appointment (yes, required). Joyful, wonderful time, and a TV is on to the news channel, an additional plus to great barber services.

Not a bad place and the staff is friendly enough. Atmosphere is shooting for posh. The haircuts aren't bad but the customer service is just not there. My first time here, the cut was solid. Found it strange that when the cut was done I was told that it came with a neck shave and or a shampoo sort like it was an after thought. I asked for the neck shave but felt like it was an inconvenience. Second time here, no offer of a neck shave or shampoo. There is a cooler of drinks and a few bottles of liquor but I e never actually been offered anything. Maybe you need to be part of a secret club. For $35, pre tip, I'm not anti- Barrelli just either offer $15 haircuts with no extras or charge me $45 and give me the works.

A white stylist asked an African American stylist, "You get sunburn? I didn't know Black people could get sunburn." I was shocked. Regardless of whether it was intended as a joke, it was an insensitive and racially inappropriate comment that should never have been made in a professional workplace. What disturbed me even more was the response. Instead of addressing the comment, the manager laughed along. That reaction sent the message that this kind of behavior was acceptable. As a white customer, I recognize that I don't experience racism the way people of color do, but witnessing this interaction was upsetting. My heart went out to the two African American stylists who had to work in that environment. If someone feels comfortable making comments like that openly in front of customers, it raises concerns about what may be said when customers aren't around. Businesses should foster a respectful, inclusive environment for both employees and customers. I left feeling disappointed and appalled, and because of this experience, I will not be returning to this shop.
