In the search for a new barber after my place closed, I landed here. I wanted to find something closer to home but I couldn't resist the buzz and five star reviews Barber & Shave Shoppe was getting. My barber was Ashley D Page (there were two Ashely's so the last name is for clarification). She did a great job on my hair. She listened to what I wanted and executed. It kind of bothered me for some reason that she would never remember who I was. After going a few times and having personal conversations (I even bought her a sub one day because she said she never tried DB's Cheesesteaks across the street) you would think that person would at least remember that she's seen you in real life before. She did give an amazing cut though and was fun to chat with so I let it slide... haha. I love being able to use an app to see available times and book right there, but I don't like that it would often only give me the option to book a cut with Ashley and have someone else do the shampoo/scalp massage. Obviously it's the available booking times and the computer isn't going to have overlap but I appreciate going through the whole process with one person and I could rarely book it that way. Even when I did, I was sometimes passed off to someone else because they were running behind. When it came time for my next cut, I logged into the Vagaro app to book an appointment and there was nothing available... for anyone. I did some Googling and Facebook stalking to find out that a bunch of barbers all left around the same time. Maybe a mutiny of some sort... I don't have the deets. I thought about booking another appointment with someone else but I was turned off by the manager/owner commenting on the Facebook posts that stylists walked out on customers leaving them high and dry. Maybe that happened, maybe it didn't but either way, it's not a good look to be badmouthing your former employees on social. I found out that Ashley landed at Broad Street Barber which I'm not a fan of (personal reasons that may not be an issue for you... feel free to see my review) so I decided not to follow her. It seems that BSS has hired new barbers and are back on track. No real issue for me with the quality of the shop and their cuts but after the fallout they had, I think I'm moving on to a fresh start elsewhere. read more

I've been coming here for 6 years and will never go anywhere else! All of the girls are talented and so nice.

I've had 2 haircuts here in the past month and have been quite pleased. I'm not a huge fan of the online booking as the first appointment I set up apparently never confirmed. I'm glad I called the day before to check as I didn't get an email or notification as I wasn't in there system and they had to make the appointment for me. With that being said I arrived on time the following day and was warmly greeted. They offer you a beverage upon arrival, the first time I declined and the second I had a water. They have soft drinks and coffee but secretly I wish they had beer available like some other places on town. Now for the cut..... both times I would give them a solid 8.5/10. The barbers listened and advised as well and definitely have me on the path I want to be on. I guess I was hoping for a cleaner cut... less stray hairs maybe a touch more even and dialed in. All and all the staff is super friendly, the haircut is a good one, and they are prompt with the appointment times which I really appreciate. Both times I got beard trims as well, although the first time the beard trim was $10 and just a few days ago it was $12 added to the price of the haircut. This is a great local barber shop. Finding a good barber was difficult for me to find in the area. Maddie was great in my consultation and execution of my haircut. Used to be a regular there when a girl named Victoria was there. She left, and I decided to grow my hair out for a few years(see photo). When you are a dude and have long hair, you know when it's time. Scheduled a blind appointment for my self and my daughter. The results were great. I have always had good experiences here. They have no heart never coming to this place or giving them my money. I called to cancel my appointment because a family emergency came last minute, I spoke to the owner and she was very RUDE! I told her I'll be there in 5 minutes and she said that she wouldn't cut me and that she would charge me 35 dollars. Why would i pay 35 dollars when I'm not getting any haircut. She bragged that she get booked to weeks ahead of time and that she has thousands of clients. And then said that she doesn't get to eat if people try to cancel, and that she can't cut in 30 minutes?? I live 5 minutes from this place and I rather cut my own hair than give them a penny for the way they treated me. read more

I've stopped by a few times now and I don't really have any negatives or critiques. It is an appointment only shop which some people aren't into, but I personally like it a lot. The service used for booking your appointment is effortless as well. You can also include your card information when booking so you could literally just pop in, sign on the dotted line after your cut and leave. Everyone I've talked to is incredibly nice and cordial. You're offered refreshments when you walk in and the atmosphere is chill and welcoming. The haircuts and beard trims have always been phenomenal. They listen to what you want to do and offer good suggestions and styling tips. I have never felt rushed when I'm in the chair but they're also very punctual so you're in and out pretty quick. They're also not pushy when it comes to selling products and whatnot which I really appreciate. read more

I've been to this place twice now, once for a beard trim and wash, second for a hair cut. I've been hacking my own hair at home because I'm always disappointed with the results everywhere else. I figured I could give myself a bad hair cut at home for free, well not anymore. Bailey cut my hair last week and I'm finally happy with the results. I will definitely be a repeat customer. I also like that you can book online. With my work schedule online booking makes it super convenient. The business is easy to find and parking is never a problem. The shoppe has a great decor and feeling of a traditional barber shoppe. Brandy defied expectations. I've had trouble for over 20 years trying to find a haircut that fit my head and style. Within minutes of sitting down, Brandy had a plan & explained the process. My hair looks great & I'm completely satisfied & will remain a customer as long as I can. I also booked a facial shave which I had only heard about but never experienced. It had been a good while since I last went to a barber or salon. I had grown disappointed in the cuts I used to get - and my hair is pretty straightforward - so I bought an electric clipper and started trimming my own hair. But last week was hot, humid, busy for me, and even a little stressful, so I decided to treat myself. I found Brandy's shop on Yelp and not only were the reviews good, she offers online booking via the Yelp app, and her shop is near my house. It was a great experience and I will be returning! As I mentioned above, my hair is pretty straightforward and the older I get, the less hair I have, so I didn't expect much - clipper cut my hair, ensure straight/even lines, trim my beard, etc. But she put thought into my hair nevertheless and, for the first time in years, I look in the mirror and actually like my haircut! She left it a little fuller on top and tapered it nicely on the sides. She also left a little more length than I had been on my beard. And it looks great! I will be scheduling my next appointment so that its about two weeks from my last one. Oh, bring cash because Brandy doesn't accept credit cards. I did a little google research and saw that this place had some decent reviews. I called and they were able to fit us in for a last minute appointment and I'm so glad they did! My 9 year got his first "man bun" and I love it! It fits his crazy and unique personality and perfect for the upcoming summer days! It's so hard to find a good barber that does a good job cutting his hair. Ashely Page did an amazing job and we will definitely be back there to see her again! Second was ok and I made another appointment with her, but they switched me to another stylist without any notice and then tried to pretend like I'd made a mistake despite my online reservation email confirming original appt. For anyone's first time here, be aware to book an appointment ahead of time and not be a walk-in. I was then greeted by my barber, Ashley, who I chose from their online booking website they utilize which you can choose what services you'll be having for styling needs. Ashley was great from the get-go, casually keeping conversation while she gave me the Straight Razor Fade which was a first for me. She keeps you in the loop with what she's doing for your cut as well as asking you for anything specific you'd like for your haircut. For me, I'm simple to my certain style and she nailed it perfectly with how I've had my cuts done before with my other barber. Because of the Straight Razor Fade, I may end up having that style done from now on. Yes, the prices are a bit higher than maybe most are used to but it's the quality that fits in line for their service here. The atmosphere in this shop is professional, the products are top notch, and the skill is obvious from the first cut.
