We recently moved to the area from out of state, and have gotten our firewood from A Cut Above Tree Service for several months now. The firewood has been seasoned well and burns great - not too fast, and not too slowly! The owner, Ralph Jennings, took time with our first phone call to explain to us about how to recognize good, seasoned wood. With our first delivery, he took several minutes to give us some advice as to how to take of our new backyard, which is very wooded. He has been both pleasant and professional every time we've called him for more wood. There couldn't be a more polite and friendly businessman around. His prices have been very reasonable. We look forward to doing more work with Mr. Jennings as the seasons come and go. I can't imagine that the other reviewer is writing about the same company. It does not sound like the same man that we've been dealing with for several months now. Perhaps it is a case of mistaken identity. I am certain that Mr. Jennings would never leave a mess behind, nor has he ever been anything but kind and polite with us. Mrs. Simpson called our company for an estimate, on a tree removal next to a pool in her community, she stated that the tree did not belong to her, but that she was pushing to have the tree removed. She also stated that the tree had sentimental value in the community, for it was planted by a deceased resident of the community. and that other residents were against having the tree removed. We felt after the information that she provided that our company would not want to get involved in that type of conflict or dispute. Mrs. Simpson called our company back after a week and stated that she had not received an estimate. we stated to Mrs. Simpson that the owner read the estimate and chose to not do the estimate because he did not want to get involved in that type of situation. A cut above tree service has no business dealings with Mrs. Simpson other then her request to have an estimate done, and an estimate denial done over the phone. which our employee that took both calls, spoke to Mrs. Simpson in the most professional manner. read more

5/14/14 was the completion of A Cut Above Tree Services. They arrived timely, in fact 10 minutes ahead of schedule!! Got right to work. Knew which trees to start cutting down. Asked for my input on where to land the trees to create minimal work for both of us since I simply wanted the trees dropped and not removed - let nature take its course. The large double was the bugger-I had avoided taking it down for three years. Even as stubborn as it was as it hopped around, it came down with very little damage to my other trees and plantings!! That's impressive. A Cut Above Tree Service was not the least expense nor the most expensive (I got 4 estimates) but, I believe I selected the best. Even though A Cut Above was dealing with a full and demanding day due to heavy storms and tornado that hit the area yesterday, they were able to find the time to take down a large limb that was hanging precariously over our garage. Had it fallen, there would have been significant damage to our roof and guttering. I was impressed and ever-so-grateful they made a special effort to help me. This is an excellent company -- very reasonable rates, honest, professional, and all interactions with integrity. We had several 60+ foot trees in heavily landscaped areas. They removed the trees and debris with minimal impact on the surrounding landscaping. Ralph was personally onsite for the entire process. The guy that I talked to was a total jerk!!!!! I called for a tree that is on common property in my neighborhood and even told the guy that I'm on the board. I still hadn't received an estimate after 6 days so I called back and he told me that the quote hadn't been done yet because the probability of it being done wasn't high because it was for a community. If I could, this company would get negative stars. Not recommended. Total jerks!!! read more

I called to have them to trim three mature trees. The finished job is exactly what I wanted. They showed up exactly at the time they said they would, started working immediately, trees were trimmed, and the debris was removed. The price was very competitive and we are very satisfied. I hired A Cut Above Tree Service to remove a huge tree in a precarious area next to my house and garage. They were able to remove it without any problem or damage to surrounding structures.
