We had a couple of trees that needed taken down before they fell down. One Maple and one Birch. Part of the maple fell a few months ago because of Carpenter Ants. We noticed they started working on the other part. We were afraid it could go at any time. We got three different estimates. Broad Ripple Tree being the lowest. They were able to work around our schedule. The guys doing the removal were great. Took everything down and cleaned up. We were very happy with the work. Our yard is a little tore up but that's to be expected. When paying I wanted to take them a check since one of the guys told me they charge 2% more for credit card fees. I had issues finding the right place. They are behind the big building that the gps will take you to. And there is no signage for Broad Ripple Tree Service. I recently had a fantastic experience with Broad Ripple Tree Service. I needed a variety of tree, shrub and yard debris clearing jobs completed at a house I'm getting ready to sell. I completed the easy online 'free quote' form on their website detailing all the information and received a same day response that the owner would stop by the house that afternoon and provide a quote via door tag and email. It was so fast and efficient! A very fair and cost effective price was quoted for the variety of work I needed done. I sent a couple of questions back over a weekend and received a call Monday morning confirming the information and noting if I was good with the quote they could likely get out there that afternoon, SAME DAY!!! Not an hour later, the crew arrived and took care to move some patio items out of the way (which I couldn't do as I wasn't expecting such a quick turn around)! They exceeded my expectations and took care of all requested items and more! I wasn't expecting the thorough clean up of ground cover and debris under the removed items and they cleaned up everything! I didn't have the stumps ground out so they cut as low as possible. Even took care to take up as much sawdust as they could. We received more than one estimate for our oak tree removal. Broad Ripple Tree Service was not only the best price but were so caring of our yard and the golf course which our yard backs up to. They safely removed a very large oak tree, cleaned up so tightly that we can barely tell they were here. Naturally, taking a large tree down means the tree parts have to fall on your yard...we do have some seeding to do, but that's on us-our tree was sick and needed to come down for safety reasons. They showed up and started work immediately and despite challenging access to one of my trees they were able to complete the work in what seems like an amazingly short amount of time. Broad Ripple Tree Service came out to remove 3 trees from my property. I paid $6500 for a professional job to be done. While removing a tree they dropped a limb on my patio cracking it. Their website states 'if we make a mistake, we fix it' but this is a lie. They patched the smallest possible area and now I have a terrible line through my patio. They should have replaced the entire section. While talking to them, they stated 'if it isn't to my satisfaction, then we'll go from there. I called for a downed tree branch that was leaning against my neighbor's fence and phone/internet wires. They came out to look at it and with a little help from both of us, we were able to remove the branch without damaging anything. It took just a few minutes and they didn't charge me for it. Delivered and stacked chopped wood for the winter season, f*cked up my front bed in the process and had to call them and complain to make them move the heavy limestone back in place. They're careless. Submitted an online quote request to get some trees removed, couple days of silence, and then I get a call from them saying they "drove past" and aren't even willing to give a quote. I had a GIANT sycamore to be removed, almost 100' tall and 3+ ft in diameter at the base. I got at least 5 different bids from contractors. Broad Ripple was the most reasonable. Dishonest and unprofessional. I had eight trees removed at the end of my driveway. They collected a check on the spot, then left. I walked out to check their work and discovered they had damaged my wrought iron gate and pillar with their bobcat. I called and they were initially quite helpful. Jerry came out and said he would get a contractor out and get a price to repair the damage. As soon as my check cleared they changed their story. They never got back to me and when I called them, they denied involvement and denied saying they would contact a contractor. I am now stuck with $3000 of damage. I'm always keen to try a local businesses for goods and services and since we live in Broad Ripple, I thought no place could be better than Broad Ripple Tree Service to trim our dangerously overgrown canopies. This, however, was not the case. They did show up for the quote promptly, but the man who came to take a look seemed irritated to be here and was impatient to answer any questions I had. I don't like being treated like I'm wasting someone's time when I'm considering giving them a large amount of money. With that said, I don't mind paying a little bit of a premium for locally-based services, but I'm not looking to get hosed!!! They were far and above THE MOST EXPENSIVE!!! We're not talking a little bit either, we're talking thousands of dollars more expensive for the same job. In the end, we went with another locally-owned tree service and they did a fantastic job at an extremely fair price with good-looking results. I still chose to have them do the work because they were prompt and professional. However, on the day of our appointment they showed up 6 hours late. I ordered a rick of mixed hardwoods from Broad Ripple Tree Service and had it delivered. They delivered it and stacked it to my satisfaction. They could not tell me what type of wood they delivered, but it seemed very dry and it burned well but very hot, and as such it takes much more time to get a fire going with it, The fire has to be raging before putting another piece on or it kills the fire. In addition, about 25% of the pieces were very large, and almost too large for my fireplace. A couple of pieces I had to put at an angle in my fireplace just to fit. Luckily, my fireplace is medium sized so I made it work. But I have lived in homes with smaller fireplaces before and the wood would be unacceptably large for small fireplaces. I found the price of the wood reasonable, and the delivery charge was very low considering they stacked it as well. I would have given them four stars, but I decided to get a rick of cherry from The Green Gang for comparison. Although their wood was not as dry as that from Broad Ripple Tree Service, the wood from the Green Gang was cut much smaller and more uniformly. The biggest shock, however, was that the rick from The Green Gang was significantly larger. I would estimate the rick from Broad Ripple Tree Service to be 25% to 40% smaller than that from the Green Gang. I stacked the wood side by side and the size difference was very obvious. All in all, I will not use Broad Ripple Tree Service again for firewood. If their rick was larger, and if their pieces were cut smaller and more uniformly, I might in the future because I really liked the price.. read more

I am reposting as the earlier post indicates I live in California, which is inaccurate. I live in Marion County, Indiana. The owner, Jerry, showed up on my property without advance notice and without announcing himself, and simply started walking around. His employee had been on the property two days earlier to provide a quote. I later learned -- but only when I had calmed my barking dog and stepped outside to find out what was going on -- that Jerry was there to review the potential job in person and that he was unhappy with the quote his employee had given. When I first went outside to ask him who he was and then proceeded to try to discuss the quote, about which I had a couple of questions, he was rude, interrupted me repeatedly, talked over me, and told me that the employee who had developed the quote was inexperienced and had underbid the job. (The employee was standing there, looking sheepish.) I felt very bullied and wondered whether Jerry would have spoken to a man with the disrespect and discourtesy he showed to me. I did nothing to generate the "low" bid (actually, three times higher than the bid from another company that we accepted) that Jerry was so upset about. The employee is his responsibility. They came out the next day to give us a quote and did not require us to be home for that, which was a huge benefit since my husband and I both work. I hired Broad Ripple Tree Service to cut down 6 large trees in my backyard and another large tree for my neighbor. A very experienced crew (including 2 huge cherry pickers) worked the entire day. They safely cut down the trees without any damage to my property and physically removed every piece of wood and twig that fell to the ground. It took several loads to haul all the wood away but the crew continued working until the job was finished. Their firewood is always well seasoned and they stack it so that air can circulate and always place the tarp back over the wood pile when they are finished. Worst customer service I have had! They butchered one tree and would not come back to even it out the bucket truck leaked on my driveway and they would not come back to clean that up no one in that company returns calls I have spent a month trying to get this problem taken care of. talked to one of the owner and asked her to come look at the tree she said she didn't need to, after insisting several times she said she would come and look I meet her at my house and she looks at the tree and says it fine I asked to get someone to come back and even it out and she said no one was coming back.
