A friend of mine recommended these folks to take down my sweet gum tree. I called and left a message and within five minutes I got a response. An hour later, Don Burns showed up to look over the project and give me an estimate. Right on time the next morning, a team showed up and started taking the tree down. Before they were finished another team arrived and started chipping and hauling away the debris. About two hours later another two people showed up and ground the stump out. Everyone on the entire crew was friendly and polite. They took their job seriously and the worksite is completely clean. I got a lot of work for a reasonable price. I've had Fred and Sons out to remove trees a few times and always been so happy with their price and service. I have used these guys twice now to haul away piles of brush, limbs etc, and I could not recommend them more highly. Most recently, I just texted them describing what I needed taken away and attached a photo, and within an hour or so had an estimate.....accepted the estimate via text ....and within one day the pile was gone and the site was left perfectly cleared. Fred and sons did a good job cutting down a mid-sized maple tree and a relatively large walnut tree. However, they left the stumps, branches, etc. on the ground for two to three weeks without letting us know when they would be coming back for the clean-up. We felt we were at the bottom of their priority list. Their work is good but the owner, Fred, needs to communicate better with customers. read more

We recently bought a home and needed one HUGE dead ash tree removed, along with a few smaller trees plus a ton of trimming/maintenance work. Don was quick to respond to our request for a quote and as soon as we moved in, he came over to meet with me and review all the work that needed to be done. Don was very quick to address the smaller trees and some of the trimming and as soon as the weather improves (30-50 mph gusts today) he will come back to finish the work! I greatly appreciate the level of communication and the speediness of the work! I would recommend Fred and sons to everyone !!! I have to knock this review down from 5 stars because the level of service and communication has been very poor since the initial contact and appointment. We still have work that needs to be done and they damaged our deck and didn't tell us the day it happened. I really hate that level of dishonesty. They have had numerous chances to come back to take down the large ash tree and remove the stumps of the other trees but nobody shows up when the weather is good. We don't have a clue where we sit on their list of priorities but it appears to be very low. They spent 5.5 hours at or home last week and accomplished nothing. Another tree service was in the neighborhood and managed to take down a very very large dead tree. Fred and sons managed to take down some branches and that's it - oh yeah and left a beer bottle outside after my boyfriend tried to be nice and offer a beverage. Can't even clean up after themselves. Also they told us that once they cut down the ash tree they will sell the firewood - nothing like making money off of that tree twice! I plan to make sure they take very little firewood because they are already charging enough for the removal as it is. I suggest using another service of you need serious work done. read more

Don, the owner, arrived with a lot of workers. After removing trees, brush, and raking left over debris- My lawn looked like a Fairway at a golf course. They did exactly what was contracted. As the crew was close to completing the work, Don offered me a chance to walk the area with him. During this time he asked several times, if everything was done to my satisfaction and if there was anything the crew may have missed, or I wanted them to do. From first contact thru clean up I was impressed his emphasis was on making the process work. His crew was hard working, polite, and knowledgeable on what I wanted done. So, Don and his son were punctual and on point at 8am on a Saturday...we hired them to haul away furniture from all rooms of our house. They not only removed all we requested, they asked about other things they may have thought we wanted removed. AND...they also helped reassemble a bed in another room which wasn't asked for. I called them on a Monday to see if they could remove a brush pile I had in my backyard. They responded to me immediately and were at my place the next day to remove the brush. The two guys were courteous, quick and efficient, they even cleaned up the leftover remnants from my patio. The cost was $70 and was well worth it not to have to deal with it myself. My neighbor hired this company to remove several trees from their property...My neighbor might be happy with their work but I certainly am not. The trees on my neighbor's property butted up against my wooden fence. In the process of removing these very mature trees my fence was badly damaged in several places. When I brought this to my neighbor's attention they gave me the number of Fred & Sons and counted them as well. Three phone calls and as many weeks late and I have yet to hear from anyone on the issue. Now we have to take this to small claims all because this company can't be counted on to to the right thing. read more
