My wife made a reservation over two weeks before her appointment for her and her Mother to get their hair and nails done. She was taking her mother to get all this done before her mom's biopsy. My wife was so happy to be able to spend time with her mother before these procedures, as we're not sure how much more she can take. I would highly suggest that you avoid this Salon. My daughter went in with my wife to have her hair highlighted. The stylist, Kristen Eiden, convinced my daughter that she needed to have her hair colored (instead of highlighted) and proceeded to spend 4.5 hours to accomplish this. My daughter came in with a picture of how she wanted her hair to look (see attached pictures). Instead of blonde highlights, she came away looking like a brunette with some gray mixed in. Kristen convinced my daughter that her hair looked good and had her believing it until she got to look at it outside of the salons lighting. After seeing her hair, she began to cry because she strongly felt that she would be made fun of at school. My wife reached out to the salon that evening stating that we had significant concerns with the styling. The receptionist said she would reach out to Kristen and have her contact us. We didn't hear anything back, so my wife tried reaching out to Kristen via Facebook Messenger and received no response at all. My wife called the salon in the morning and asked to speak with a manager. She was told that the manager/owner wouldn't be contacting her back until the end of the week! My daughter literally refused to go to school, so we were left with no other option but to go to another salon to have her hair fixed. We finally received a call back from Kristen, 24 hours after the incident occurred, and she and the owner of A Day Away Salon refused to issue any kind of refund and took zero responsibility for the issue that had occurred. I made a reservation for my sister who lives in Michigan with Rachel Mclemore at Day Away because of a referral from a friend. I made the appointment about 2 weeks prior & yet on the day of appointment I received a call from the salon saying that Rachel isn't taking new clients & could schedule with someone else at another time. My sister who is almost 70 drove 2 hours here and then we get the call about this! Yes I feel this is a terrible way to run a business & treat people! I purchased a Groupon for a 60 minute massage with Graham Hayden. It was a crazy deal that I couldn't pass up. I recently injured my ankle, and from crutches and a boot I was feeling sore all over. The salon was nice, the greeter was friendly and pleasant. I completed a health questionnaire and sat in a room for a few minutes. Graham was friendly but not chatty. He asked about my injury, and what I wanted to focus on. The massage was very good. He stayed mindful of my injury and made sure I was comfortable. It was therapeutic and relaxing. When it was done, he placed a hot towel on my back and left the room. I was not rushed out at all, and was able to put myself back together before meeting him in the waiting area to pay. There was no pressure to book another appointment. I've had massages at other salons where the atmosphere was better. I could hear talking and other sounds from the salon section. The overall aroma of the place was more like a hair salon than a spa. I'm glad I got the service with a discount through Groupon, although I think even at their full price it would have been a good value. I would definitely recommend Graham to friends. read more

This spa is a higher end spa and will be treated that way. I always feel out of place when I come in for a massage. It's nicely decorated and staff is dressed well and cordial upon walking in. The building has a soft aroma that isn't overpowering and is peaceful when you step inside. The massage area is quite and relaxing. The tables and room are a comfortable temp with soft sheets and soft mood lighting with ambiance music playing in the background. The massage therapist I have had is dealt tender and for me I like a deeper muscle massage and even tho I kept repeating to her to please apply more pressure she isn't consistent. I have tried one other and it was the same. Overall it's a relaxing massage and the therapist stays quite to allow you to relax which I love. They are very professional and respect your time after the massage to get up and get dressed. It's my go to place for a Swedish massage but for deep tissue I go elsewhere. Be great for pregnant women or people who are very tender to the touch. I guess I have thick skin. Lol. read more

I received a groupon for a 1 hour massage with Graham for a birthday present, the morning of my appointment I was told that I needed to attend a meeting for work. I called as soon as I could to reschedule, and was told that I would be charged a $25 reschedule fee!!! When I spoke with the salon manager she said that all the information about fees were on all their literature and on the groupon. But it wasn't on anything that I had received since it was a gift! Most people use groupon's to grow their business, well A Day Away Salon & Spa just lost this future client, and Graham lost any tip. I am so completely disappointed and upset!! read more

So I haven't gotten my hair dyed in a long time. I had very high expectations on Abby since my sister had recommended her to me since Abby did a good job on her hair the last time. When we were settled in the salon, I showed her a picture of how I wanted my hair to look like, she said my hair was too dark for blond-ish brown ombré I wanted. Also, that it would take a "couple" of tries. What was really dumb was that she didn't mention anything about bleaching my hair. That would've been a more simple process than just coloring it a "couple" of times. What made me skeptical was that it seemed like she didn't want to spend a lot of time attempting to do the hair color/style that I wanted and showed me other pictures of the hair that she could do. Okay, I know that people can be busy, but your clients are your clients. They take their time out of their day to come to your salon and expect some magic to happen to their hair. You do NOT rush or choose your likings for your clients. Your clients should not be unsatisfied after the aftermath. Abby seemed to be rushing and I totally felt the tension. So when Abby was coloring my hair with the foils, I had an uneasy feeling that something wasn't going right. But since she was highly recommended, I trusted her abilities. I waited 30-35 minutes to let the die sit in and she came and got me to wash it off. I thought she was supposed to color my hair a "couple" more times??! We went back to her station and I could not see any color in my hair AT ALL. I told her I wanted to cut my hair 3 inches off. It literally looked the same after the cut. Then she blow dried my hair. And once she turned on that curling iron, I just knew she had done it wrong. I got brown highlights instead of a blond-brown ombré. Very disappointed and unsatisfied to the max. I would select zero if I was able. Long term loyal customer, scheduled a pedicure about a year ago. Put life on hold to take care of myself, got there and nobody helped me for over 25 minutes at which point I had to leave to take care of my kids. Boycotted for awhile but today gave them a second try. Husband called last minute this morning, told they had an apt at 10:45, so spent 45 min getting ready and driving there. On arrival, told no you aren't on our schedule. You must be wrong. Well I'm not an idiot. My husband called an hour ago. Oh sorry someone here is incompetent and had the wrong day pulled out so sorry for your luck but go back home. No real apology, not sorry this happened. Nothing offered for the inconvenience. Was looking for a new hair salon to go to, got recommended by my coworker to go to this girl name Abby at A Day Away Spa. She told me how great Abby is. "Oh she is the best!" "She can do whatever hair style you want!"So I took her word and tried her. The first visit was alright.(Spent $110 tip $50.)I know hair takes a little more time so I totally understand and make sure to always tip well. I tried to stick to her so I made an appointment for the second visit for my younger sister who is 15 years old. It's been awhile since she dyed her hair. Her hair is dark black and she wanted ombré with browns and blond mix and to cut 3ins off her hair. (FYI she didn't cut 3ins off it was still long.)Our appointment was at 3:00pm and when making the appt. I texted Abby, she confirm to me that 3 would be okay. We got to the salon 20mins early and had to wait which was no big deal. We showed her a picture of the ombré hair. Abby mentioned that ombré on dark hair is a process, and that she will have to light it "COUPLE" times to get the ombré look. So she started dying my sister's hair and put these foils.I can tell she was rushing because I heard they called her name because her "another" appt has arrived. She set us aside in this other room. We were waiting about 30 to 35mins. I basically fell asleep. She then came back and took my sister to wash her hair. When she brought my sister back to the chair she blow dry her hair and started curling! At this point, I heard her name was called again for another appt. she didn't finish the one earlier either. I was like wait a second, "Is she done?" Her hair look nothing like ombré NOTHING! It looks like she just have "HIGHLIGHTS! It didn't have to be exact just similar and that's all we wanted. She obviously did not put the effort and process to make the ombré look and still have the guts to ask my sister if she like it?!?!? Her hair look "Unfinished" Seriously? I don't know if it was because she's only fifteen that she feels like she can just do sloppy work. When I ask her why isn't it lighter? She said oh because her hair is too dark. (Ummm isn't that why you have to light it couple times?) Charge us $90 on just that when I can do that myself. And plus tip, I spend a total of $110. I can tell that she book the appt too close that she was rushing or whatever the case. Was very disappointed especially seeing my sister very happy and excited to get her hair done but in the end ruined. Never again will I come here and will not recommend this place to any of my clients and friends. I know there are hairstylist here that will probably do better work, blessed their hearts. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I actually used to buy my mother gift certificates about 4 times a year for mani-pedi's and massages from this place. We also would refer out of town gifts here. It got to the point that my mom had so many she was using certs that had more recent expectation dates. When she went to use a cert that had expired they said she was not able to use it. I live in CA and went in while I was in town to talk to the manager and owner about this as I could not believe they wouldnt honor an already paid for cert even if it had expired and considering the number of years we have been buying these from them. I explained the situation and the manager went to talk to the owner. She then came back and said sorry. I asked to talk to the owner and she wouldn't come up to talk to me. In CA if a place operated like this they would be out of business. I understand experation dates but they treat these like they are coupons at this place. It was a 100 gift cert. we already paid them 100 dollars. And we did not receive a service in return. The owner must have known it was bad business as she wouldn't even come up to talk to me.
