Almost feel like a scam.... 2/23/2024 We went to Home Depot the other day and we were told that today's visit would be a FREE estimate on just how much the installation will cost. When someone came and he was checking the opener, we thought he was just trying to provide a quote. We never expected or asked him to perform any repair on the opener. Then he claimed that he fixed it then he told us to pay the service fee. We were confused and uncomfortable about this charge because we were told it would be a free estimate only. It feels like a scam to us because we were never informed that such charge would occur. After 15 min, the garage door didn't work again with the same exact problem. So basically they came, spent 10 min, told us that they "fixed it", the door worked for 15 min then it was not working again, and they asked us to pay for that. They said they could send the person back again but what's the point? Go through this all over again? What they are trying to do is to not fix it, then customers can pay for a brand new door + installation of over 800 dollars. Our garage door was completely broken, wouldn't open but also wouldn't close all the way either, and the motor was literally dangling from the ceiling! Got a few quotes but felt like these guys were the most professional and had one of the lowest prices. On the day of the new door install, he showed up and started getting to work right away and didn't mind that my little dog Minnie would come see what he was doing every once in a while lol. Left him there to work while I picked up my 5-year-old from school. When we got back my son was so excited to see our new door getting installed. He got his own tools so he could help out. This is for a property at mountain house, near Tracy. The garage door spring was broken, and the operator bracket was ripped off from the garage door. When the contractor sent by Home Warranty showed up, he waked up the tenant at 6:30 am, and quoted $1500 to replace the door. He collected $75 without doing anything except pushing the door up for the tenant to get the car out. So I had to talk to my sale representative to report the matter. The home warranty company initially told me my situation was not covered, but agreed that I can find my own contractor as long as the repair details are documented. I found 3 garage door service companies, all responded but A-dependable was the one who actually called me back to set up an appointment. Very nice and accommodating lady! I gave my tenant the contact number so they can set the time. Two days later, I called A-dependable what was the quote. I learned that it was fixed! Perhaps my tenant authorized the repair without my permission. I asked for the invoice, and it turned out the cost was very reasonable. The technician charged only the spring repair cost, and repaired the operator bracket free of charge. I did not have a chance to meet the technician nor the owner, but I have to say this company has the integrity in doing business, and I will recommend the company to everyone in nearby cities. read more
