I shopped here couple time since it opened but 1st time since this branch took over. Parking is huge but depending when you go so it can be crowed and hectic at time. There is that old Asian market smell (mixed of fish/meat/and veggies all together) upon entering. Fresh veggies and fruits. Meats and seafood are good cooking and plenty of selection. Prices wise are reasonable and affordable for sure. Staff are stiff and seem not quite happy (and I'm here at 9am), they can be abit friendly...but overall not bad. read more

I brought my Mom to A Dong Supermarket located at the Asian Village in Westminister to buy 10 boxes of Indomie Mi Goreng Fried Instant Noodles as it was on sale for $10.99 per box. Funny, we came here just for that, but we ended up getting only 2 boxes of it and 10 boxes of MAMA noodles with pork flavor at $6.98 per box. It didn't matter which noodles we bought as along as my Mom was good with her purchase. During our visit, I walked around the store. It's your typical Asian supermarket, but it has more Vietnamese brands. The store was quite clean and organized. Aisles were a little snugged though. It has all the essentials that a supermarket normally has... fresh produce, meats, seafood, dry goods, household stuff, alcohol section, etc. Lady at the register was okay. She didn't count the boxes and trusted us. Thank you miss! Check-out was easy and quick. Upon exiting the store, a staff member marked our receipt on our way out. I found it interesting that an Asian supermarket would have this procedure in place. It's all good. I probably won't be back here too often or much at all to shop as I don't live near the Westminister area. This was a special request visit from my Mom. Just for the noodles! LOL read more

The good: My mom really likes this market because she says the vegetables are really fresh and affordable. She says the veggies are fresher than their competitor market across the street. The fruits looked really fresh as well. The parking lot can be crowded. I got some salted Vietnamese instant coffee here that tastes pretty good The bad: My toddler threw up upon entering because of the fishy market smell (though it wasn't strong at all). It gets crowded in the aisles. The interesting: I got a Spongebob and Paw Patrol egg surprise toy here with candy inside. The candy and snacks aisle is open by the vegetables which is a totally different setup than most markets. read more

Again on the search for eggs and seaweed. We found the eggs here, but not the amount for the price it was. We found the seaweed they had 3 different varieties of the snacking kind and 4 varieties of the regular sheets. They did, however, have several types of coconut milk, coconut water, coconut cream at decent prices. They had a fresh seafood and meat section. Granted it is fresh seafood, and it is open to air so I should expect some kind of odor. This odor was very overwhelming so overwhelming that I used my sweatshirt a mask. Not the best, but not the worst. They have all of the usual and basic grocery items. Usually when I come, there are decent deals on certain groceries and a wide variety. They almost always have my mom's favorite vegetables and greens. It is often crowded, however, and gets tough during peak times. The meat deli counter was really crowded today and they don't have a number system so it was pretty hectic. My mom and I waited for 10 minutes before we were helped because people kept cutting in front of us. Compared to other supermarkets in the area, this one is actually kind of small. There are less than 10 aisles and it's also kind of dirty. Being dirty is actually pretty normal for Asian supermarkets, but this one seems a lot dirtier than others. The parking might be difficult as well because it's in the heart of Little Saigon, right across the Asian Garden Mall, and in a popular plaza. My family and I always manage to find a parking spot though so it shouldn't be too big of a problem. Overall, a decent choice. read more

11/29/22 After having lunch at Seafood Cove 2, I decided to grab some more persimmons. This place is a few steps away from the restaurant. It is s local Asian supermarket, I believe there is a huge Vietnamese community that patronize this market. My sister & I use to come here a few years back & we called it The Land of Push & Shove. I used to say that people who shopped here would often pass by you so closely that I told my sister, "Hey, I don't need another shave, thank you very much". We often laugh about that, yet, I digress. Luckily a new supply (box) of persimmon is being emptied onto the pile & people zeroed in on it like white on rice. What can I say, it was 0.68/lbs what's a deal?! We still had to pick out the best looking fruit because some were already quite ripe or bruised. I got about 8 lbs or so. I saw some yellow papayas that looked enticing (2 lbs/$1)--it's a steal! There were boxes of young coconuts that people were going crazy over-tempting but I don't feel like swinging a machete today. Fresh coconut juice & coconut meat is so good but am too lazy to crack them open. Then I saw it, fresh soy pudding!! This is so good! Childhood memories came flooding in. I picked one up & it was still very warm. It was a good, quick stop & shop, very convenient where we were. If I had more time I would've roamed the aisles to look around. Parking is crazy here, it's a very busy strip mall/area. There are a myriad of stores, from that Seafood Cove to this market & even a Karaoke store. There's plenty to see. read more

Best Vietnamese market in the area with the freshest fruits/veggies at the cheapest prices! This has been my go to Viet market whenever we make our trip to LA, especially since I can just walk to a few other places nearby to get all my goods. Having been to 2-3 other big Vietnamese markets in the area on the same day 1 time, just because we were closer to them, only to come here at the end to discover we had overpaid for most of the stuff we got from the other places, and the quality wasn't even that good, I've decided I'm just going to stick to A Dong for all my Viet grocery from now on. read more

tl,dr: Likely the best Vietnamese supermarket in town. Likes: + Has an aisle to park your cart as you grab groceries. MOST Viet supermarkets in town lack this consideration. Major plus to A Dong. + Groceries, duh! Vegetables, fruits, meat, you name it. Only it doesn't have all the extra yummy fruits in American supermarkets, such as strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries. Non-likes: - The parking lot is a MESS! There are many spots, but NUMEROUS businesses (restaurants, tailor, optometrist) use the same lot. Virtually only one way in, one way out. Going here on Sundays, you're guaranteed to "fight" for parking, whether it's waiting for the elderly to make up their mind, or finding a spot in the very back lot, waiting for everyone to get out of your way. Occassionally I bring my mom here for vegetables. We go between A Dong and Westminister Supermarket Thuan Phat for our groceries. A Dong would have better quality vegetables is what my mom says. I would agree, but it depends on the vegetables. Its hit or miss. PARKING. Forget about close parking. This market is in a busy plaza with Seafood Cove that usually has a line extending out the door and down the walkway. Squeeze in your car where you can. Drivers here are aggressive. SEAFOOD. Seafood here is fresh and affordable. Not abundant today though. No crab or lobster in their tanks and there were literally 10 crawfish in their tub. Fathers Day weekend probably had them sold out. Hence the store was pretty empty. VEGETABLES. Yaaaaaas! Lots and lots of fresh vegetables. We planned a hot pot dinner and picked up most of our vegetables here--napa cabbage, green leaf lettuce, chrysanthemum leaves and spinach bunches. They did not have a good selection of ong choy, so we picked that up from Thuan Phat. FRUITS. Fresh rambutan was the star today. We picked up four bags. They were ripe, sweet and juicy. Parking isn't going to deter me from coming here for groceries. Understandable impacted parking due to Father's Day. As usual, I'll probably be back in a couple of weeks. read more

Pros: - Supermarket is clean and much calm in compare to ABC market down the street - Store manager or supervisor is very helpful and professional - Price is very competitive; depending on items Cons: - smaller selection in compare to ABC or thuan phat - the cashier and cashier helper (people help to load your grocery in the bag or cart) need lots of training. They don't take criticisms when they scan too fast and price get tag on the wrong item, yell at customer and drop fruits on the floor (and expect customers to take it???). I tried to ask nicely the price of few items that I think the cashier scanned incorrectly (Mind you when you buy many different pastes and price is $.10 - $.30 each in difference, things happen.) Everybody is allow to make mistake, but don't be so offensive. The cashier can say I'll get somebody to check the price or manager can step in to help (which the manager did and very professional). Instead she insists she did not do anything wrong, which I never said she was wrong. That does not help to move the situation. I kept my expectation very low when coming to these grocery stores. I used to go to Saigon City no parking problems but lately they had jacked up prices thinking nobody would notice so now this market is my new supermarket. Their fruits are always fresh and the price is affordable, for example a box of mangos from Mexico (I don't like from Chile or Peru) was only $10 vs like $4 or $5 more at Saigon City. I just saw a Yelper complaining about rotten mangos, I must have been lucky, my box was 100% perfectly ripe, ready to eat, you gotta choose carefully!!! I also frequently bought pomelos, not today, they must have a Pomelo farm in Mexico, they have it so often and 90% of the time really delicious. They have a huge selection of lychees, longann, rambutan if you like these, I love them but the imported ones are expensive and just not worth it for me, I eat them by the bucket when I was in Bangkok. I eat out a lot so I don't buy meat but I imagine they also have the best prices. The only problem here is there is no parking places, it was stressful looking for a space and at gas $7 a gallon, I'd still go to Saigon City for easy parking and saving on gas. read more

I've been going to A Dong with my family for as long as I can remember. My parents live in the IE and they make the trek out to Little Saigon for hard-to-find items that aren't found in their area. The pricing is cheaper than if they went to their local Asian market so they shop here when they're in town. Recently, I've been looking for Huy Fong chili garlic paste to no avail. It's been sold out in the Irvine Asian supermarkets so I thought I might try my luck in Little Saigon. The first two supermarkets I went to closed at 8 pm on a Monday. I missed the time by a few minutes. I live in south OC so I had to wait for traffic to alleviate before venturing north. I made it to A Dong and they happened to still be open. I went to the aisle where they have Huy Fong and the only items I could find were the Sriracha. The chili garlic sauce was sold out AGAIN. At this point, I'm ready to give up my search but my husband found a jar of a different brand of chili garlic paste from Thailand. I figured I could use this in the meantime until Huy Fong starts replenishing the supply. The search has been intense! I had gone to 6 different Asian grocery stores over the weekend and did not find any Huy Fong on the shelves. I'm not about to pay 3x the price on Amazon. I'll try again in the future or just stock up if I see it on the shelves again. This is getting ridiculous. Huy Fong announced in 2022 of a failed chili crop that would affect their supplies. This is my FAVORITE store in Little Saigon! It has gotten more expensive over the year, which is a shame but I still love coming here. I like the cans of coffee and the many selections of treats and the middle section. They have a wide variety of things you may need or want. Groceries, fish, snacks, noodles, and other home things like plates and candles. Back in august I took my grandmother here to get all the supplies we needed to make homemade egg rolls and they had everything we needed AND MORE and it was less than $100 for a cart full of things. It can be a bit smelly because of the fish and everything but it's still a good store to go to. read more

Dong is a good supermarket. A little better than the ABC one I usually go to off of Buschard and Bolsa. These guys always have fresh meats and produce. Store is much more cleaner with better customer service in my opinion. They may not always have the basic stuff that i use to cook with, but I end up finding something more interesting than what I use. Nice spot, and it could be my go to spot. read more

This market is right across the Main Street from Asian Garden Mall. Some of their items are priced competitively with other stores. I bought 2 bags of big size mustard greens at 2 pounds for 89 cents. Limit 2 bags per customer though :(.. I also bought some rambutan at 98 cents a pound , also 2 bags limit. :( What bothered me most is at the register I saw a lady in front of me purchasing 4 bags of rambutan. So I asked the cashier if I can get 2 more bags of rambutan and make a separate transaction like the lady in front of me. The cashier said no, she can't do that it's only 2 bags limit per customer.. I thought that's strange why did customer in front of me made two separate purchases for the other two bags of rambutan.. Didn't seem fair if you ask me. ( cashier said , sorry..) I didn't want to complain since I was running short of time to pick up my kids from school) I guess you have to speak Vietnamese in order to get special privileges .. yeah won't be coming back here again.. Decent Vietnamese supermarket that sells an assortment of fruits, veggies, seafood, meat and other grocery items. One major plus about this market compared to other Asian supermarkets in the area is that they are open much later. Most Vietnamese supermarkets in the Little Saigon area close at 9pm, some at 10pm. But for those of us who often work late, or just prefer shopping in the evening hours, A Dong supermarket closes at 11pm. The prices are fair, and not much more than other markets in the area. I've been a few times over the past couple of months, and always have had no issue finding whatever I needed. The staff is friendly - never had an attitude issue from anyone. It shares a parking lot with a bunch of other businesses and restaurants, but if you go at night, with almost half of the plaza closed, you shouldn't have too much of an issue finding parking. read more

I confronted him, but he said I must wait by the other end. What other end??? There's no sign, no number system! It's totally chaotic! The old dude acted like it's his own kingdom, and we, customers, must abide by his rules! I insisted I was there first, but he ignored me. I tried to complain to the management, but the customer service lady first told me the manager was on lunch, but then once she learned I was trying to make a complaint she smiled and said, "there's no manager!" Large supermarket in the middle of Asian Garden Mall & Little Saigon. Lady Yelper Isobel L. & I strolled through the aisles since we had time to kill before we went on to an early dinner at Garlic & Chives. Earlier we had gone to Quang Trung to get an order of their rustic, generous, meaty, Nuoc Mam Umami enriched epic Cha Gio. Parking here on a Sunday afternoon is tight so be prepared for some circling around to claim a parking spot. I am into ultra premium Sushi & Sashimi so when I perused the seafood fresh fish section, I noticed the fish are not too super fresh here. I'm sure they're good when cooked, but the dull eyes & scales along with an old fishy odor pervading the seafood section did not entice me to buy fish here. The fresh fruits section was surprisingly limited in their choice of Southeast Asian tropical fruit. I thought there would be Durian, Rambutan, Mangosteen, Jackfruit, Wood Apple, Snake Fruit, Star Fruit, etc. But I could find only a few such as big, bumpy, green skinned jackfruit, which if it fell from a tree to the top of my head, would end in possible death depending on how far it had fallen. There are some non-edible Vietnamese products such as straw woven conical peasant hats embroidered w/ native flowers, leaves & Vietnam in big blue lettering as well as practical goods such as plastic ware & basic cooking utensils. Coming to A Dong is like a scavenger hunt. The produce & fresh fruits section has some really fantastic deals & low prices such as 95 cents for 2lbs for Japanese eggplant or similar price for baby bok choi that look fresh & appetizing. Also at the entrance there was a huge pile of LED dimmable light bulbs & twisted fluorescent bulbs for only $.33 each although they were manufactured in a huge East Asian country not always known for quality of their manufactured goods. But for 33 cents, I bought 3 since it was a great deal. A Dong is not even close to destination shopping, but I would come here often just to find great bargains if I lived nearby. This market is a godsend for the local patrons, but you have to have a sharp eye & keep your wits about you to find bargains you can swear by. 3- Yelp stars. read more

OMG so stinky, I bought 2 goose eggs here before $15 each, was ok but then yesterday i bought 1 more then it is a bad one, very stinky. I bring the stinky egg back to market, the old lady in front sold for me yesterday she very mean and treat me very bad. I hate Asian market! Came in looking to cook an asian meal, it's got a vast array of fruits and vegetables and a good sized meat department towards the back, good variety of rice.
