A.R. Supermarket is one of my favorite Korean market if I need to buy Korean stuff or beef short ribs BBQ. It offers a wide variety of products at prices significantly lower than the H Mart's but the quality is not inferior. Product : Vegetables, fruits, and mushrooms are very fresh, with organic brands too. There's also a wide selection of side dishes, meat, seafood, frozen food, sauces, snacks, instant noodles, shampoos and etc. Those items are often on sale. There are a few shops aside in supermarket including shoes shop, Korean cosmetic chain store, women clothing stores and hair accessory shop. Overall, it's a great place to shop at one stop Environment : The store layout is okay, but the lighting isn't as bright and big as H Mart's, so it might seem not so modern, however as long as it provides good products with great price. Parking: not hard to find a park around !

We are very happy that they fixed the AC and now it is always in full blast. The meat and produces stay fresh all day. The freezers are also better now. We always come here for BBQ short ribs, kimchi and snacks. Special thanks to all the food sample staffs, they are always nice. The store reorganized the meat and seafood sections to make it more convenient for customers to pick out their items. They put many good snacks and sweets at the checkouts that my kids always get at least 2-3 items there. Check out the phone, the plant shop and clothing stores too. They are very nice and the prices are reasonable. And thank you for all the good quality calendars. We hang them in our living room every year :)

Went to get some supplies for tonight dinner. Still a great and valuable with decent prices place to shop. With friendly cashiers and staff. Their stuffs are fresh & nicely packed. They do have already cooked, fresh, and frozen for meats, seafoods and veggies. Parking is great, there is front and back of the building, and easy to park (small spaces are small). The market is clean and well organized. They also have food stalls section, and other shops at the entrance. Their bathroom is clean and well kept. At this time, they are given out complimentary calendar for shoppers with purchased. Very nice big calendar.

Great Korean supermarket! Perfect for buying Korean ingredients that you can't find at other Asian supermarkets in the area. The meat section is perfect for buying your favorite cut and cooking Korean BBQ at home. They have great produce and fresh vegetables to choose from. Compared to American grocery stores, the prices here are a lot cheaper and they always seem to have new items in season. However, certain sections of the store are lacking and could use a better selection. There are also some items that we were looking for like boba pearls and they didn't seem to have them which was disappointing. The place overall is pretty small, but they have a lot of other small shops and a small food court inside as well. You can tell that it's an authentic Asian supermarket because it's not super clean. ^_^ It's located in a large plaza with other shops and a popular coffee shop so there are plenty of parking spots. Highly recommend!

My friend lives in Garden Grove and she told me that actually A.R. Supermarket is her favorite for getting Korean food and products. That's interesting because I was often shopping Korean food in H Mart nearby but never noticed this A.R. Supermarket so I went to check it out. It offers a wide variety of products at prices significantly lower than the H Mart's!! Vegetables, fruits, and mushrooms are very fresh, with organic brands too. There's also a wide selection of side dishes, meat, seafood, frozen food, sauces, snacks, instant noodles, shampoos and etc. Those items are often on sale. For example, Harim's frozen ginseng chicken soup was $7.7 (dated 5/2024) on sale while it was priced at $9.9 on Weee even after a discount. The store layout is okay, but the lighting isn't as bright as H Mart's, so it might seem not so modern, however, I don't mind as long as it provides good products with great price. There are a few shops aside in supermarket including shoes shop, Korean cosmetic chain store, women clothing stores and hair accessory shop. Overall, it's a great place to shop at one stop and I definitely recommend it. A.R. Supermarket (Korea Plaza) 9580 Garden Grove Blvd #300, Garden Grove, CA 92844 They also have a Fullerton location 1701 Orangethorpe Ave, Fullerton, CA 92833

This review is for my favorite marinated short-ribs #2 as shown in these pictures. They used to cost $9.99 and I thought it was expensive! But now it is $13.99! Yikes! I guess I have to marinate my own now. We used to have to get in line to get these meats! I did not see anybody when I was there. These short-ribs are well marinated and very tender. They are ready to grill and eat at home. I don't really purchase anything else here. Parking: it used to be a nightmare finding parkings. Suprisingly when I dropped by this past weekend, it was wide open! Maybe I got lucky. It is in a big shopping plaza so there should be plenty of parkings. People drive a bit wild here though.

Located in the Korea Plaza within Garden Grove, CA, A R Supermarket is a good place to pick up Korean groceries. It is in the heart of K-Town, and has large parking lots similar to other Western grocery stores. The prices seem better than the close-by H-Mart, with many items being on significant sale. In this way, it reminded me of the Galleria Northridge that I used to go to: not too crowded, significant sales, and needing to pay attention so you don't buy something that has either expired or is close to expiring. Another unusual thing is that there were ladies handing out free samples of food throughout the store. One of the things we bought there was marinated raw crab. They only had the spicy variety (Yangnyeom Gejang for $5.99 per pound), not the soy sauce variety (Ganjang Gejang) which I prefer. It was well prepared, with all the outer limbs and guts being removed. My daughter and I tried it when we got home, and it was very good....no roe, but the meat was very sweet, a great balance to the spiciness of the sauce. Just be aware how messy it is to eat. Besides the grocery store inside, there are a variety of shops and eateries inside the building as well. There is also a small food court with seating, where you can grab a Korean meal if so desired. A R Supermarket is located right next to the A R Galleria, indoor mall. The mall has very few occupants, being similar to other indoor malls in LA's K-town. None of these malls have really recovered from Covid, I think. The one good thing is that because this mall is empty, people can use these parking spots in front to shop at the supermarket...thus parking was easy and stress-free on our visit.

Seems to me, it is less crowded than other markets. (If I can avoid crowds, I will). It was Tet New Year season and I needed to get a few ingredients for some dishes I planned to cook. My first priority was the fresh oxtail in the meat department. I have gone to many markets for this cut and it seems this is the best place for a ~2 pound tray of mixed size tails. The fat is all trimmed off, as opposed to other markets that leave a fat layer behind that you are paying for. It also depends on if you prefer leaner tails. Next, the produce section. I picked up some cailan (Chinese broccoli). For the most part, the Asian veggies are pretty fresh - since there is a higher turnover rate of Asian veggies in this area. It was good on this day. So many varieties of green veggies, I love it! The fruit section is also pretty impressive. Papayas, guanabana, dragon fruit, pommelo, tangerines, korean pear, manzano bananas,...Not your ordinary apples and oranges. Dry goods include a plethora of rice, including Thai sweet rice, Japanese rice (perfect for sushi rice), red rice (known for high fiber and low glycemic index)... Who likes Chinese Style sausage? Me! It is called Lap Xuong, in Vietnamese. I love making Thai sweet rice and serve with thinly sliced Lap Xuong - my mom fed us kids this often! And yes, they have a good supply of this here, so stock up, it will last forever in the pantry. Vietnam is the world's second largest coffee producer. You will see the crazy amount of coffee products sold here, for example, Vinacafe. Most are packed as individual serving packets which includes cream and sugar. Too convenient for consumption! Also perfect to have in your pantry. You shall be impressed with the chili aisle. Sambal of all kinds. You can make an awesome pot of chili with this heat! Lots of Lunar New Year items too. I am sure there are still some left for purchase if you didn't have a chance to pick some up yet. They do have a liquor department too. Asians can drink iykyk. If you do, please don't drink and drive. Parking is ok, if you go shopping off peak hours. Market is on Beach Boulevard and it could get pretty busy so plan wisely. So enjoy your visit. It is always fun to discover a new product and try something you have never eaten before!

For meat, I grabbed ground beef, pork neck (currently on sale for $1.99/lb), and chicken breast. Prices were definitely reasonable. For produce, quite a few items were cheaper than H Mart, including enoki mushrooms, Japanese yam, daikon, shiitake mushrooms, tofu, and carrots. That said, the Japanese yam didn't look very fresh this time, so I ended up skipping it and buying it at H Mart instead, even though it was a bit more expensive. Some items were priced about the same as H Mart, like napa cabbage ($0.99/lb), onions ($0.39/lb), and bean sprouts ($0.99 per pack). One change I noticed is that cucumbers are now pre-packaged instead of being sold loose, so you can't pick them individually anymore. They're also slightly more expensive than H Mart now. They also had a great deal on Driscoll's strawberries, $0.99 for a 1 lb box, which is definitely worth picking up. Overall, still a great spot for affordable grocery shopping, especially if you're cooking at home and want to save a bit here and there. (visited on 3/31/2026)

It's a big supermarket with a wide selection of Asian groceries, fresh produce, and especially seafood. I don't really come here often though, mainly because of the strong fishy smell inside the store. Every time I leave, I feel like the smell sticks to my clothes, which I don't really like. Also, it can get very busy and the checkout lines are usually long. The staff at the front can also be a bit hit or miss in terms of friendliness. At the very least, it has been my favorite chain of Japanese markets, but it stinks how they have just one location in the Bay Area! In fact, across my limited number of trips to SoCal, I've already visited more locations down here than back at home and I have to say - this location may be the newest, but it's also my least favorite one I've been to. Like pretty much every other Mitsuwa I've been to, this location has a cute little food court with a half dozen or so eateries offering a variety of food options - from ramen, udon, and curry rice plates to onigiri, matcha, and Japanese sweets. As for the market, it has all of the usual offerings you would expect - a solid selection of fresh produce, meats, seafood, frozen foods, pantry staples, alcohol, snacks, and sections of prepared foods and sushi to choose from. What's more, as a whole, everything here felt so new and clean (which makes sense in hindsight, as it apparently opened only back in November). With all of that having been said, though, it's weird to me how this place still felt a bit...lacking. While you can find a decent mix of things to eat at their food court, it's pretty much limited to three eateries, so don't be surprised to see lines when it's busy. Also, despite how new it is, the market feels smaller than other Mitsuwas I've been to. That's not inherently bad, but pickings felt relatively slim for certain meats and produce we were looking for, as well as their bento boxes and sushi. Granted, it probably didn't help that we were here on a Sunday and the place was packed with customers, but it's not like we stopped in towards the end of the day either. All in all, while I definitely think there are plenty of positives about this location, I'd be lying if I said I was as impressed with this one as I was by their location in Costa Mesa. It's definitely nice how new it is and I would never be opposed to going to any Mitsuwa, but if I lived out this way, it'd be tough not to know whether I'll be able to get everything I need here or if I'll also need to stop off somewhere else. THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down for now.

The store itself is smaller if you compare it with places like Shun Fat Westminster Superstore or Hòa Bình supermarket. There is only one checkout counter and the staff all seem to be Vietnamese. After walking around, they pretty much have all the basics covered. The focus is Vietnamese and Southeast Asian ingredients and sauces. They have their own seafood and meat counter with number tags where you can ask them to clean or cut fish, plus a small deli to go section. I also noticed their delivery vehicle outside that says wholesale, so it seems like they also supply restaurants in the area. Overall it feels like a neighborhood market that also does some wholesale business. The fresh section looked clean and there was no strong smell. I happened to see ground pork on sale for $2.49 per pound. The regular price was $2.79. Of course I had just paid $3.99 per pound earlier that day at 99 Ranch in Irvine because I wanted convenience. While we were there, a Vietnamese lady next to us was buying a big pile of meat and seafood and chatting with us while waiting for it to be cut. She said she always shops here. She ended up buying the last of the ground pork in the display. We asked if there was any left and the butcher said he had more in the back, so we immediately decided to grab two pounds. I think this place is perfect if you do not want to push a cart around a huge store and just need to pick up a few items quickly. They are open until 8pm. Next time I have more time I will come back and explore a bit more to see what other interesting things they carry. Inside, it has a decent selection of items. I didn't notice that usual strong fishy smell you sometimes get in Vietnamese markets from seafood or raw meat, so it felt fairly clean and well maintained. Seafood and meats looked fresh, but prices are higher compared to other Asian markets. The produce section looked fresh as well, just on the expensive side. There is a small prepared food section in the front for quick takeout. Even with the higher prices, it's still a convenient place to shop. Not too big, easy to get in and out, and you can find most basic things you need.

I noticed other customers approaching staff directly for assistance, so I eventually did the same. The employee behind the counter selected four beautiful salmon steaks for me. However, while packaging them, the bag split open and all four steaks fell onto the floor. The employee quickly picked them up and took them back behind the counter. It appeared that he attempted to rinse them off and package them to sell to me anyway. When he brought them back, I asked, "Didn't those salmon steaks just hit the floor? Could you please get me four new ones?" His response, said quietly under his breath, was, "Oh, you saw that." He then selected four replacement steaks, weighed them, and labeled them for purchase. I was very disappointed that anyone would attempt to sell food that had fallen on the floor. That experience left a very negative impression and made me question the seafood department's food handling practices. The rest of my shopping experience was fine, and the highlight of my visit was one of the restaurants inside the store--a boba and milk tea shop. The service there was excellent, and I had one of the best yogurt and pumpkin milk teas I've ever tasted. That positive experience is the reason I'm giving three stars instead of one. I'll likely avoid purchasing seafood here in the future, but I would definitely return to visit the shops and restaurants inside the store.

I love the large selection of chips and other treats you aren't going to find anywhere other than an asian market. I've come across some great snacks I otherwise would never had known even existed. The store is well laid out and easy to navigate and they do a great job of keeping it clean and stocked. I have also never felt like the store is packed, despite plenty of times seeing a packed parking lot outside. Clearly people park outside the market and going to other businesses in the center. Either way, even if you don't know you need something that Lucky Seafood has, it's worth checking out. It's a great casual food shopping experience where you might find a new favorite treat or seasoning or spice.

Before, it didn't feel as clean or well stocked, but now it's a big difference. The store is more spacious, organized, and easy to walk through. It's also much easier to find things. They have a wide selection of items, from fresh produce to dry goods and all kinds of Asian ingredients. The vegetables looked fresh and good quality. Prices are a bit higher compared to some other markets in the area, but you do get more variety and better quality, so I think it balances out. Staff are okay, not especially friendly, but not rude either. It does get busy on weekends, so going earlier in the day is probably better. Parking wasn't too hard, Another thing I liked is the small area in front where they sell ready to eat items like chè (Vietnamese desserts), different kinds of Vietnamese pastries, and snacks. It's nice to grab something quick to eat after shopping. Overall, even though prices are slightly higher, the convenience, cleaner space, and better selection make it a place I'd come back to when I need Vietnamese or Asian groceries.
