Chris had, on hand, a piece of plumbing gear that was perfectly suited to my drain setup. Fixing time was under an hour. The second problem was related to a leak reported by a neighbor. I had a good feeling at first when hiring Chris for a door jam replacement. At first yes I had to cancel my apt. But I canceled within 5 mins of making it. So I didn't want him to have any effect on his business. And then I said weds. And he said sounds good. Tuesday night I texted him to confirm for Weds. and he said Can possibly do tomorrow! As I'm booked up. Like what does that mean?? Than he calls me at 10 am i couldn't answer because I was at work and he texted me no response by!! Felt like I was dealing with a child. Wow is he great! Not only is he old school customer service minded, but he is smart as well. He contacted me with an opening in his schedule, and arrived on time. He determined it would be a good idea to not just replace the ballast in the old unit, but to replace it entirely with an LED fixture, that is virtually maintenance free! No more trying to replace those crazy bulbs. It was an fairly inexpensive fixture, and it is much brighter, and will help reduce my electric bills. Chris can do anything! I hesitate to let everyone know what an awesome handyman he is, because I don't want him to be too busy when I call him again. I had a long list of things that needed to be done from installing a shower door to changing a shower head that needed a special pipe (that he went out and bought.) I had a company deliver an electric fireplace to my old address which is less than 5 miles from my current one. I needed someone to pick up the 3 boxes the unit came in and deliver to my correct residence to assemble. I explained that this unit was an electric fireplace with a media component. He did not know what a media console was......should have been my first clue. I went onto the website where I purchased this item to check the total shipping weight which was 220 lbs for the 3 boxes. I explained that a dolly would be needed. I assumed that two guys would be handling this job. When Chris arrived at my house he was complaining that the boxes were heavier than he thought and my house was farther....I said it is a five minute drive.....he said it was 4 miles.....Uhm, well yeah, a minute a mile so 5 minutes and in a residential no traffic area!! Second red flag. I could immediately see that he was not going to be able to do this job. He would not be able to get the boxes inside by himself nor up the stairs without damaging the walls because two people were needed. Then it would be a snap. During our exchange, I told him to please watch that my dog did not get loose. I had a heavy wooden gate and of course, he managed to let the dog by prompting me to run around the neighborhood to catch him......when I came back he managed to get the 3 boxes off the truck and sarcastically said "I thought you went to the John Wayne airport". Mind you it was quite hot and I was in no mood for this guy's crap. I told him to take the boxes and just leave them on my porch. I gave him $65 for a basic delivery services. ($65 an hour is his rate). He actually was pretty rude when he knew he couldn't get more out of me and asked if he should just leave the boxes on the sidewalk for me to move....I am a 5'4 women who weighs 140 lbs with no dolly to lift anything. I have NEVER encountered anyone with such awful people skills. I was patient, but irritated with his cavalier attitude. However, at no point was I rude. This was simply a disaster and an awful experience. I had lost my trusted handyman's number and am really upset because a good one is VERY hard to find. read more

Chris came to my house to resolve a sudden issue with the hot water pressure in the kitchen sink..he resolved it quickly, we found out that somehow the valve to the hot water was off. Surprised Chris doesn't have a ton of 5 stars for his 25+ years in business. He was referred to me by a family member who used his services in the past. I just moved to Laguna Beach and needed an A.C. installed on a vertical window so I gave Chris a holler. He was super easy to make an appointment with, and came to our apartment on time. He went above and beyond to do a quality job which turned out prefect. He also fixed a table of mine that was missing screws from the move. I've found one, Christopher, owner of the A-Good-One. I called him a couple days ago in the morning. His prompt reply surprised me. The pipe connecting between the water heater and the house was leaking. I had to turn off the flame in advance for safety. He came in the late afternoon fixing the problem right away. Then, one by one, he went on to replace 2 set repair kit of the toilet. After he left, another problem came up. I couldn't restore the water heater. Its pilot flame was dead. I called him again.
