Handy Randy is the reason I started to improve my home three years ago. Since then, it has been one project after the other. if you're like me, you don't like having strangers coming into your home and doing work. They can be rough in your home, and generally not respectful of your property. Not Bob and Greg. They are extremely respectful to your property and you quickly feel like they respect your own property more than you. A rare find! This most recent project is to finally complete my backyard Japanese garden. This was a 5 step project that started in August 2021, when they redid my zen garden. You can refer to my previous review for my review on just that portion. This past December they put down the meandering trail that leads around the zen garden. As with all my projects with them, I always try to get their feedback on the project and run my ideas by them, and get their input. As usual, I end up liking their ideas better than mine when we have a difference. This last week, we completed the garden with the additional rock, the irrigation for the plants, and the lighting, Just look at the photos. They speak for themselves. Greg and Bob are seriously the BEST in the business. They'll be realistic about what they can do and what they'd recommend. I would always take their first recommendation on anything because they really know what they're doing. We had them work on a few things actually which was wonderful because we didn't have to contact multiple contractors for the various projects we wanted in the house. We had a pretty complex wall that we wanted to replicate from one of the model homes in our neighborhood and they replicated it so perfectly. Called to inquire about a project for some work. After leaving a VM & being unable to reach anyone, received a call 3 days later from a lady. Initially she apologized, & said she would call back to give more information on a date for someone to come out. After not receiving a call back, until 5 days later, said that someone wouldn't be able to come out for 3 weeks. 3 weeks pass by, never heard from anyone, and not only that but never showed up! I called this place to ask about repairing my fence. The lady that picked up the phone was not nice at all. After I told her what I need fixed, she told me that they can fix it BUT their first available appointment to just go take a look and give an estimate is not until August, a solid one and half months out. I have had an amazing experience with Handy Randy twice now and looking forward to our upcoming projects next week. On the first occasion Greg came in to install Saferacks in the garage. He has a lot of experience with this and got them up on his own in no time. He advised me on the correct height of these units in order to maximize storage space and allow for adequate headroom. I couldn't be happier with the results. Greg came back to save me in an emergency when my tankless water heater burst. I was lucky to get an appointment with him after a cancellation. Due to a mistake in the original builder's install, this was not the easiest job. Greg put me at ease and took care of this problem in no time; and likely saved me at least $400 had I hired the plumber that was recommended by the water heater manufacturer. Now I have him coming back for several projects, the biggest being an 8-light outdoor LED setup on dimmers, with the capability of adjusting light color. Greg really has a proclivity for tech and the latest smart solutions, so I am excited to have him on this job. This is one of his passions and, in conversation, you may find him making all sorts of suggestions to automate things in the home, make your life easier, move toward more green (and cost-saving) solutions, and other options to better your home (sound/video enhancement, soothing morning wake-up options to replace your traditional alarm clock, automating lighting/appliances/thermostat, and other tech you never new existed). These guys are gems! Greg and Bill of the Handy Randy team are excellent and I recommend them highly. Unlike many other handymen and contractors, they showed up when they said they would, communicated with us throughout the job, and were completely professional. They worked quickly, and cleaned up thoroughly after the job was complete. They were very honest and I felt their pricing was more than fair. We had them come in and finish up some work for us after the contractor who remodeled our bathrooms bailed out without finishing the last few details. They tore out our old 70's-style fluorescent light soffit in our guest bath, and replaced with new LED recessed lighting. The lights and drywall patching look great! We were also missing the kickplate at the bottom of the vanity in our master bath as the contractor never installed it. Bill matched the stain color perfectly and installed a new one. You would never know it is not the original!
