First, they showed up to help me trudge through the terrible job of purging and got me super organized. The painful process was somehow made doable by Kat and her team (shout out to Emmerie!), with their firm but gentle persistence to get it all done. They really kept me on task/gave direction when I needed to sift through things which was incredibly helpful. Otherwise when I had to work or was busy with my kids they never seem to waste a minute. Moving with two toddlers was completely overwhelming, but they unpacked and got us organized in the new house in just two days. I called them back to organize the garage I'd managed to stuff full with overflow and in just a day they had it all perfectly purged, sorted and stacked. They showed up on-time and worked without stopping aside from a short lunch break (which was always fun getting to chat with them) -which was quite impressive given the slog I put them through. They are delightful and super enjoyable and easy to work with, I cannot recommend this crew highly enough!!

My master walk-in closet got a facelift thanks to Kathy!…read more It's been 4 months since moving into our new house, and organizing that closet was a task I kept putting off. Kathy was able to do it all in a day. There's no better feeling than actually being able to walk into your closet without having clothes in mounds covering the floor and having everything organized by color and category. I wished I had watched her fold clothes because her technique is amazing and I'm not sure I can fully replicate it. Kathy also spent time searching online for storage solutions and being able to utilize her trade discount to purchase some of the items was so nice. I really appreciated her friendly communication and professionalism. I highly recommend working with Kathy if you're looking to get your space organized, and she also offers interior design services -- she has a great eye for home decor and aesthetics!

The challenge was to make my multi-function room a nice place for sewing, storage, and my home gym. And, I wanted a relaxing place to read, too. You wouldn't think that's all possible in one room, but Kathy had a vision for transforming it, and we did! Now, it's my favorite room in the house. Working with Kathy was very easy and everything went according to our timeline. After she provided the initial design, I hired a carpenter to build out the storage/desk area. Then, Kathy provided furniture and decor options for me to choose from for the room. She helped me tame the clutter, and made it all look amazing. She delivered on everything she promised, and I am so happy with the result! This could have taken me years to do on my own, but with Kathy it only took a few months. It's been so worth it and I can't recommend her enough.

I remember the first time she came to my house and I was hoping she would just do it all for me - it was too much for me to fathom going through the memorabilia items in my home. I couldn't part with them but they were clogging up my life. Shannon very gently, but persistently helped me come to grips with the disorganizational mess I had because of these items and how I either needed to get the items out of the boxes and enjoy them or get rid of them. She helps her clients realize that what they might be holding on to isn't the item at all. She helps sort through the clutter and develop a system in collaboration with the CLIENT, so that it works for them! What a concept! There are times I can still hear Shannon say -"like items" should go together and "if you love it so much, why is it in a box in the basement?" She is very talented and helped me develop lasting changes to how I organize my house these days. I would call her organizer/counselor and she is worth every penny. If she was still in Omaha, I would not hesitate to continue to recommend her to anyone, as I have, struggling with a system in their home that isn't working, working though their clutter issues, or just wanting a freshening of their household, since she also has a great eye for design and arranging. Hire her today and you will be so glad you did!

While I have been fortunate to work with some really talented people on both coasts, Shannon stands out as exceptional. I hired her to help our family settle into our new house following our recent move from Southern California to Santa Fe. I had done a lot of work purging and preparing prior to our move, so we arrived in pretty good shape. Our movers unpacked everything onto a flat surface and removed all the boxes and packing paper. From that starting point, Shannon helped me to organize the kitchen, master closet and bath, kids' rooms, office, and garage. We accomplished this in 4 days working together for about 6 or 7 hours each day. Shannon asked all the right questions and helped us to figure out what makes most sense for how we live. She was fun to work with and patient with me when I got distracted, able to gently pull me back on task. If you have an area or two in your home you need to gain control over or if you are going through a big life transition like a move or downsizing, Shannon is wonderful to work with. She will help you meet your goals efficiently and joyfully.

Inspired Closets Austin - Owner, Craig Maxwell

    Inspired Closets Austin

We've worked with Inspired Closets on multiple projects throughout our home over the last 4 years,…read moreand the overall impact has been significant. Our house is a fairly typical Austin new build with limited built-in storage, so we were left solving for organization ourselves. Over time, they've helped transform several areas, including an under-the-stairs pantry, living room built-ins, a wall bed for a small office, and a large storage cabinet near our entryway. The standout project is probably our pantry. It used to be a dark, awkward squeeze under the stairs that was hard to navigate and even harder to keep organized. They completely reimagined the space with lighting, floor-to-ceiling shelving, drawers, and a small countertop area that now houses appliances we used to keep on the kitchen counters. They managed to make an under-the-stairs pantry feel like a feature, not a compromise. It's a tiny footprint that works incredibly hard and has honestly become one of my favorite spaces in the house. The design process has always been highly collaborative for us. Kelly Toye, our consultant and designer, has been a steady and thoughtful partner across every project. She takes what we ask for and makes it better, consistently bringing multiple concepts and helping us think beyond the immediate moment. One example is the living room storage. We currently use cubbies with baskets for toys, but the system was intentionally designed so those can evolve into drawers or cabinetry as our kids grow. That future-thinking approach shows up throughout the work, including small details like curved open shelving on the wall bed installation, which keeps a tight room from feeling visually heavy and more integrated into the home. Communication and installation were smooth across several phases. Scheduling was transparent, timelines were clear, and the team stayed responsive during multi-room projects. Lead times can run six to eight weeks depending on availability, but expectations were always clearly set. In terms of craftsmanship, the quality has held up well with everyday use. It may not sit at the ultra-high-end price tier, but the functionality and durability have been strong for our family. We've had a couple of minor hardware issues over time, and the lifetime warranty has made those easy to resolve. Service calls have been straightforward, and fixes were handled quickly. One of the biggest changes has been how much calmer our daily routines feel. Spaces that were previously chaotic or underutilized now work with us. Toys have a place, workspaces can flex, and storage evolves as our needs change. It feels less like adding furniture and more like adding infrastructure to the house. Overall, Inspired Closets has been collaborative, thoughtful, and highly functional in how they approach storage design. The spaces they created are not only hardworking but genuinely beautiful, and the value feels strong compared to some higher-end alternatives. If you're looking for solutions that balance aesthetics, flexibility, and real-world usability, they've been a great fit for us.

I chose Inspired Closets Austin over vendors quoting less than half their price, sold on the idea of a high-end, family-owned business with premium quality and a lifetime warranty. To be fair, our designer Kathy was great -- professional, responsive, and understood our needs well. But the rest of the experience didn't live up to the pitch. We scheduled our install more than six weeks out and planned everything around it -- including clearing the space and coordinating new flooring -- only to get a call *the day before* saying they'd ordered the wrong cabinets. No prior warning, and the install was delayed nearly a month. They eventually waived the final 10%, but I had to follow up to make that happen. Then after install, I noticed one cabinet overhangs a step by nearly 2 inches. It wasn't flagged by the install team at any point, and I only noticed it later myself -- disappointing and surprising for what I was told was an "extremely custom" design. Inspired Closets talks like a premium service, charges like one, but doesn't deliver like one. I would not recommend them.

We researched wall bed options from a number of different vendors online and through Yelp, but I'm…read moreso glad we went with Karen Stanley from More Space Place on Anderson. She was very patient as she walked us through the different options for the design, materials, finish, etc. for our wall bed. We were even able to use our existing mattress (I think it had to be under 11" tall). I'm quite petite, but the bed is weighted properly so that I can easily and smoothly pull it down or lift it up by myself. Pro tip: take measurements of every inch of your room (including where the window sills are, how far the window sills stick out from the wall, etc) and bring those measurements to Karen. She can mock up the room in her design software which really helps visualize how far the wall bed will protrude into the room and where you want to place it. Don't forget to measure how far the doors open into the room and where the edge of your ceiling fan comes to! The different finishes, materials, and designs make a BIG difference in the price so if you're looking to be more cost-conscious, let Karen know and she can show you which materials are the less expensive options vs. the more expensive. We put in a deposit of half of the full cost of the bed, the other half was due upon delivery. You put in the order with Karen and it takes them a few weeks to get the ordered materials in. Karen's staff then schedule a time to came to install the bed - it took a couple hours and I was glad I was there to finalize placement on the wall. They even cut small chunks out of our baseboards so that the bed would sit flush to the wall. Ask to keep the chunks that were removed so you can try to patch them back up if you ever move. You can also call More Space Place if you move in Austin and for a pretty reasonable fee they will come uninstall the bed and re-install it in your new home so that your movers don't break it! We've gained back the use of that room as an office and exercise room instead of being mostly taken up by a large bed! The process was easy and painless, delivery and installation went smoothly, and I didn't even have to pick up any tools.....soooooo worth the money! Thank you again Karen!

I highly recommend this company and it is owned by a woman or at least it was last time I checked…read more I'm an interior designer and I design quite a bit of custom furniture myself and have just moved back to Austin from Southern California. I have a new project where I recommended that my client take my drawing and have them design something similar for the laundry room as his new house has no cabinets there. They do a fabulous job here and you won't be disappointed. I use a custom cabinet company for custom millwork in the main living areas, etc.. but for closets and laundry rooms and even home offices I think they can do a great job! They did my master bedroom and den closets for me. I went with the darker wood because that's what I had throughout, but I recommend using white in closets as it doesn't show the dust as much.
