Their approach to music is sustainable and they make music fun and easy to learn. My daughter started going to Arete music academy at 3 years old. She is now playing short piano songs and getting much better. My son was also part of the meet the instruments class and also started at 3 as well. He loves to sing and has developed a lifelong appreciation for music. I even took a few piano lessons myself and was very impressed with how much I was able to learn in such a short period of time. Their staff is top notch with the best credentials. In addition to being scholars of music, they are a nice group of people that interact well with people of all ages and backgrounds. Other things that I like about Arete are: 1) The academy is very neat and clean and well laid out with many sound proof music rooms. 2) They have the finest pianos, Steinway, Yamaha, Kawai which are excellent for taking lessons on and are perfectly tuned! 3) The office staff is very nice and easy to talk to. 4) Top music staff from all the best music universities. Not only do they know music in and out, they can teach it very effectively. 5) They have many programs for all ages and instruments. There is something for everyone. This is definitely hands down the best music school in the area. I wish this Academy was around when I was a child. I am looking forward to having my children become music scholars in the coming years.

I have been toying with the idea of getting a guitar for several years now and finally took the plunge. I originally considered trying to learn guitar from a DVD or YouTube videos, but after trying to do chords off of a DVD, I was getting super frustrated that my girly fingers are just not long enough to stretch the way they needed to to make those chords. I started lessons here yesterday after hearing about Fort Lee School of Music from a friend. I'm so glad I did. The first lesson was really great. Mike, the owner and the guitar instructor is really patient and even better, his lessons are really individualized to how you want to learn guitar, and what you want to learn. Because I'd expressed concern about being able to reach the chords, he taught me some chromatic exercises on the lower frets, and I'm practicing moving up the fret board to give my fingers some exercise in stretching and getting used to the movements. Seems like such a great way to start. We'll see how it goes since this was just lesson #1 and I'll possibly update this review at a later time. For now though, I am really impressed and have already recommended Fort Lee School of Music to a friend who's autistic son is wanting to learn guitar.

Attending School of Rock Cresskill has had such a positive impact on my life overall. I walked into…read morethe building knowing basically nothing about guitar. But my instructor, Mike, has been so helpful and understanding during my learning process. Beyond that, I was recommended to try vocal lessons with an instructor at the time who's lessons quickly became the highlight of my week. She taught me so much and gave me the confidence, tools, and reassurance I lacked. Performance Program shows have helped me meet so many amazing fellow musicians (that I am glad to say are now some of my closest friends), taught me how to play/perform as a group, dared me to positively push myself, and helped me get comfortable on stage. Furthermore, I was asked to audition vocally for Houseband earlier this year and, to my surprise, I got in! The entire experience has helped me grow in so many ways that I could make this comment into a essay. So to sum it up, I started with barely any stage presence and a shaky voice. Through healthy challenges, once the annual summer tour came around, I was so confident singing on stage and had improved my voice so much by comparison to the fall. I bonded so much with my bandmates and have connected with so many people through music, I wish I started School of Rock sooner! The book is a great starter book for beginners and and even a great refresher course for advanced drummers to get get back to basics and beyond. Dan is great teacher and explains things how you could understand. I look foward to taking more lessons and the next book and hopefully more after that. He went out of his way to make himself familiar with songs that he might normally not play himself, but knew I would like.
