Everything felt spacious, comfortable, and well-maintained. They use Korean karaoke remotes, which can be a little intimidating if you're not familiar with them, but she walks you through everything. A huge bonus was the visuals she had posted around the room and the pamphlet she gave you; they made everything super easy to figure out. The song selection is also VERY up to date with many options, old and new. There are different languages to choose from as well. They literally had Folded by Kehlani already... like, what?! I was impressed. The microphones sounded great and were very clean. I also appreciated that they provided mic covers; it was a nice touch. You can order food and drinks, too. The ramen station they have is so cute and honestly such a vibe. We booked one hour, shared a bottle of lychee soju, and I believe our total came out to around $50-$55. We randomly came across Side Bar on a Thursday night and met Keagan, who completely transformed our entire trip. He was the ultimate curator! He immediately assessed our group's vibe, realized we were out for team bonding, and invited us right in, securing a fantastic VIP booth for my team. After a few shots and grooving to great music, he personally ushered us over to Gaslamplighter for a change of scenery, where we spent the rest of the night enjoying amazing drinks and live karaoke. The experience was so incredible that on our second night out, after hopping around various other bars in the Gaslamp Quarter, our team unanimously decided to end our night right back at Side Bar. Once again, Keagan took flawless care of us. He hooked us up with another booth and a few bottles. We happened to be celebrating a team member's birthday that night, and Keagan made it unforgettable. The staff brought out the full VIP treatment with bright sparklers and "Happy Birthday" signs to close out the night in style. What makes Keagan so special is his attention to detail. i have been here 2x now. both times i came in on a karaoke night, super excited about it because i…read moresee it all over instagram & tiktok. i own a karaoke DJ business myself, so i love checking out other places. both times that i have come in- the karaoke line moves SO slow. we came in tonight (9/26/26) and signed up immediately. i sang after about 45 mins- only after tipping off the KJ and introducing myself to him... the KJ himself is cool, but i just don't think he knows what he's doing. the mics were quiet, i couldn't hear anybody singing or any of his announcements. but he's a really good DJ and very nice so i'll give him that. then, it took 2 HOURS!!! before we finally went up to the kj and asked why my friends hadn't sang yet. they all signed up at the same exact time as me. i know he clearly bumped me up to be nice, which is great. but there's just no reason why it should take over 2 hours for my friends to sing 1 song. i counted, and there was maybe 60-70 people in the bar and he has the same 5 people singing over and over again in the time we were there. the bar is cool if your vibe is expensive ass drinks ($20 each) and a DJ in a crowded spot where you get bumped all night. but if you're looking for a karaoke bar- absolutely don't waste your time. we spent over 2 hours here on my birthday WAITING for our friends to sing and i felt like i literally wasted my birthday. i will never come here again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

After listening to a few performances and doling out well deserved high-fives, a gal mentioned that the live band performance aspect was a completely different experience to the typical lounge scene. She really enjoyed it and would definitely do it again. I think it would be helpful to the fans and groupies if their schedule was easily found on their main website page. While I am easily impressed with the band's repertoire, I could see how discouraged a potential singer would be if a favorite karaoke song is not available.
