A Kings Sons left me high and dry, on the day of arranged service. They were supposed to send a team, to pack two PODS, at noon. A person from a help agency (HireAHelper) called me at 9:30 a.m. to say A Kings Son was "stuck on another job" and would not be coming. They could, however, come the next day. If you know anything about dealing with PODS, you know that's not how it works. The audacity and arrogance of A Kings Son to not show and tell us they could come the next day. By the way, when I was trying to contact a Kings Son directly, they did not answer and their voicemail was full. Not only do I NOT recommend, I urge you to do business elsewhere. Correcting their lack of professionalism was a lot of work. I have to rate at least one star, but I do so begrudgingly. read more

I have been reluctant leaving a review, however the more we unpack & figure out what the pieces used to be, the more irritated, angry, & saddened we are regarding our items. Over the summer we relocated back home to Texas & were in need of help moving. To move here, we hired a professional moving company that moves pianos for a living. They are very well known & reputable & knew they would pack & load our valuables in a way that could withstand the long journey to Texas. They were professional, courteous, & aware of what was labeled fragile to double fragile via stickers placed on the boxes & bins. They were also mindful of the boxes & bins we labeled DO NOT STACK items. They were very helpful loading our moving truck and 3 moving trailers, so helpful that we were told by the supervisor on duty to step aside & just tell them what box/bins went where since some things were being placed on the truck versus the trailers. We hired A Kings Son Moving to not only help us unload our moving truck, but three trailers from the ABF Depot in Waco. We were very impressed seeing the near perfect score rating online from previous customers. When we called to make arrangements, we were greeted with positivity & a can-do attitude. We were very appreciative of the flexibility from them due to the trailers staggering in the ABF Depot. This is what we observed the days the movers were here; they would work hard in the morning, then dragged after lunch. The younger members of the crew kept looking & playing around with their phones for some reason or another, complained saying "you guys have too much stuff", & really were not careful with our property. We noticed when they were unloading their truck, things seemed to be tossed around & not very secure. They would stack heavy boxes/bins on top of lighter boxes/bins causing them to buckle under pressure & several of those boxes/bins contained fragile items which ultimately were decimated. My wife observed a few of the crew members tossing things around with no thought & were not courteous with our property. Someone from your team took it upon themselves to STEP on top of bins that were labeled fragile. The movers asked us to direct them on where to place the boxes/bins & furniture as they unloaded, yet it does not seem our directions helped because we are finding our stuff wherever they decided to place them. On the second day, we had to work with them just to keep them motivated so they could get the job done - this tactic seemed to work the day before. We noticed that the movers were actually more motivated to do their job when we were out there moving stuff off of the truck/trailer. Why is it OUR job to motivate the movers to do what they are paid to do? We intentionally hired a moving company not only to make sure things were loaded & unloaded properly; it was so we would not hurt ourselves. I was not supposed to be lifting anything heavy as I have physical disabilities as well as having knee surgery several months before. Due to the strain and heavy lifting, I was still participating in rehab two months later. When my wife called about the discrepancy of time that the movers reported they "worked", she felt that she was being lied to regarding the times. My wife is well aware of the time they started at ABF Depot, left ABF Depot, & arrived at our home to the time they stated they were done. She does not believe the workers were being honest about their time. Then the next morning the ABF Depot called stating some of our property was left behind. This included our new $300 truck dolly we bought to help move the heavy boxes when we didn't have help around. When I called to inform you of the unnecessary trip I had to take to Waco and back to pick up property left behind by your team, I was told I would be credited back for my troubles - still waiting on that credit. I hear you when you say your guys have been doing this for years, however, that does not make them good/great at what they do. We have broken mementos that cannot be replaced, fixed, or repaired. Some of these items were family heirlooms that were entrusted with us to take care of. We have compared our experience from the company we used in Oregon with manpower, overall time, and packing/loading time versus the experience with your crew with the same perimeters and it is a noticeable difference - even when we factor in the unloading of the trailer to the truck and download the truck at our home. Our 3-month-old sofa was so damaged and beyond repair we had to order a new one. I could go on; however, I have a feeling this may fall on deaf ears. If this is genuinely how these movers work - it is not a great representation of your company. Comparing your online reviews versus our experience, it does not even sound like the same company. I don't like posting negative reviews; however, others need to know it wasn't all peaches and cream. Disappointed & financial depleted from damage/replacement costs. read more

You could not find your file cabinet that was to be picked up at the second location which was your friends house. My response: I asked my crew members Phillip and Timarco if they know where it could be and they said it was never at your friends house to be picked up with the other furniture pieces that were successfully picked up and delivered to your new location. I also suggested that you check with your friend to see if maybe it was misplaced at her house before pick up as my movers never seen said file cabinet. I also checked the company truck that was assigned to your move the same day I spoke with you. I assumed since I didn't hear back from you that it was found. THIS IS A BOLD FACED LIE! PHILLIP AND TIMARCO PHYSICALLY TOUCHED MY FILING CABINET, LEANED IT BACK AND ASKED ME IF I WANTED IT MOVED AND I TOLD THEM YES. WHAT THEY DID WITH IT, I DO NOT KNOW BUT THEY WERE TOLD IT WAS TO BE MOVED THEY PHYSICALLY HANDLED MY FILING CABINET AND IT DID NOT SHOW UP AT MT HOME. YOur company truck was not even used. I used Aaron's storage truck. There is another lie. 2. Dresser drawer broken or not fitting back in dre, sser. My response and resolution: $100 discount given and also notated on your invoice sent to you via email and/or text message that you signed. YOU NEVER GAVE ME A DISCOUNT. YOU QUOTED ME $200, CHARGED ME $400, TOLD ME YOU WOULD REFUND ME $50 AND COME WITH YOUR HUSBAND TO FIX MY DRESSER. YOU NEITHER SHOWED UP NOR REFUNDED ME A SINGLE DIME! 3. You stated that $you were under the impression that Phillip (whom has been working for our company for 3 years) was going to finish moving you off of our company clock so that we would not charge you. My response: all our movers know that our software monitors the time the move takes and the time it takes them to come back to the office once the move is complete. There is no way for them to move customers off of our clock once the move is started with out us knowing. MY MOPhiVERS KNOW THERE IS NO WAY AROUND THIS. I explained this to you. I am not sure where that mis understanding came about. I questioned both llip and Timarco about this and they didn't know why that was said either. I WAS UNDER NO IMPRESSION. I have heard all the horror stories about movers, so when it was time to move my parents our of their home of 60 years, I wanted to pick just the right mover. One mover that was recommended to me in Waco had an "F" rating with the BBB; another I was ready to hire, but I asked too many questions and they fired me before I could hire them. Finally, I settled on A Kings Sons. Excellent reviews and BBB rating; they deserved all the accolades they had received. They showed up on time, were careful and efficient on the loading end, drove 180 miles to the new home, put everything in its place with precision and came in under budget. The movers (Eric and Johnny) were quick and efficient! They were also very friendly and worked really hard to help us cut costs on our U-Pack trailer (we rented a trailer with U-Pack for a cross-country move since we can't drag a local company all the way to Washington with us. :P). By helping us safely compact everything into the trailer, we were able to save almost $800 in moving expenses! 0 stars if it were an option. Severely disappointed. They arrived late. It was a three man crew. The first pickup area was a storage unit that contained 6 or so items. It took them 45 minutes to load just those items. More than 75% of the time 2 crew members stayed in the cargo area of the truck while the 3rd did all the running between the unit and the truck. I knew then that it would be a long day--16 hours to be exact. When they arrived at the house the pattern continued (how 1 guy did the majority of the running from the house to the truck, etc). The crew would take apart items stating they would tape them to the furniture. This would be far from the truth. We found multiple bolts, nuts, and screws throughout the house. The crew would be at the truck chatting but would start to actually work if they saw we were watching. They even had 2 more crew members arrive. Then we had 4 people staying at the truck while 1 guy did all the running. I think the the lady of the 2 that showed up was the boss or something because it was the only time the other workers showed any hustle. When they unloaded at the destination they left multiple items I disassembled. We found they lost parts to my sons bed. Nothing like unloading at 2 am. Yes, I could go on for days. In a nutshell don't waste your time or your money ($2,600 or so in our case). You've been warned. read more

I agree with Jordan's review. My experience was very similar. My husband and I couldn't believe how long it was taking them. During the time they were on their cell phones, they had their family or wives driving by to talk to them and they took FOREVER, using a 3 man crew. We have had a lot more things in past moves and 3 men got the job done in 3 hours. With my husband and I doing part of the moving to help the AND we were unwrapping furniture just to get the whole thing done in 4 and a half hours, since they were taking their sweet time. I was disgusted. Not sure how anyone received a 5 star move out of them. read more

I cannot say enough positive things about this company. I scheduled a late in the day move with 3 guys. Darnell, Chris, and Phillip arrived at 6:30 in the evening, in July heat, after another move they had just finished. All were professional with amazing positive attitudes! After working 3 hours in the heat, navigating tight stairs, and with shirts dripping in perspiration, these guys still had smiles on their faces, and their attitudes nor their drive to finish with excellence, never faltered.
